  1. Well tonight, I'm broiling salmon. Sides are country cheddar rice and corn
  2. Hot and humid again
  3. Decided to put this one on today and I agree w/ Clifford, this is a great date-right up there with the Candid. Has anyone heard the date for Time? Had it in my hand once and put it back in the rack. Ditto on the Roach. Really like his work with Dolphy too, especially Far Cry and the Five Spot material.
  4. Well after some quick researh on-line, I just found out that 'Buybacks' is a store under the CD Warehouse umbrella, which explains the inflated collector's prices. I should've known
  5. Inspired me to give WOW a spin this morning and hell yeah, its definitely worth hearing!
  6. Yeah, but at least the temps dropped, right? Record heat type shit currently going on in NY. Phoenix will reach 107 today. It's bad all over. Yes! We're back in the 70's!
  7. The K2 sounds pretty good to these ears.
  8. I tried looking there too, and the Columbia website is next to useless.
  9. I've been wondering this myself. I've noticed a number of Legacy editions going OOP and these budget editiions being put in their place.
  10. Because of the severe heat this last week we are now having a rash of severe thunderstorms with a report of a tornado touching down in the Sandusky area.
  11. By some dumb luck, I decided to look around a CD Warehouse like store that sold the usual bland stuff, until I started to look in their cd section and quickly realized how much rare OOP stuff they had. A lot of it was at collector's prices but they had a copy of Bob Brookmeyer's Traditionalism Revisted sitting there for $14! I just can't believe what good luck I've been having lately finding WCC's. That's four now that I've found so far this year! Playing the Brookmeyer now and man what a sweet date! Can't go wrong with Hall and Giuffre in the ranks.
  12. That would be kick ass if the Rare Grooves reissue program was revived
  13. New Ideas is a terrific record and Al Francis, like some have already mentioned, is extraordinary. Essence, is another killer date. Amazing stuff from Bley and Peacock there as well.
  14. I had to take my niece to a dentist's appointment and I had an hour to kill, so I went to this very commercial looking DVD/CD used store (kinda like CD Warehouse, but bigger) and I was absolutely astonished with what they had. I couldn't buy a lot of it because this place was charging collector's prices but here's some of the stuff I passed up, because I can't take a second mortgage out on my house : Barry Altschal-You Can't Name Your Own Tune-32 Jazz: $33.99 Walt Dickerson-Impressions of a Patch of Blue-VEE: $52.99 Ed Thigpin-Out of the Storm-VEE-$36.99 Clifford Jordon-Cliff Craft-BN Conn-$47.99 Art Blakey-Hard Drive-Bethlehem/Avenue Jazz-$27.99 Nevertheless, I still ended up blowing $100 Here's what I could afford: Bob Brookmeyer-Traditionalism Revisited-PJ WCC Air-Live Air-Black Saint Sun Ra-The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra-Savoy Sun Ra-Holiday for Soul Dance-Evidence Sun Ra-Monorails and Satellites-Evidence Sun Ra-My Brother the Wind Volume II-Evidence Sun Ra-Sound of Joy-Delmark
  15. Family vacation to DC at the end of June.
  16. What Paul said! Happy Birthday!
  17. Grilled burgers, sausages and ribs last night; tonight were trying something new: turkey meatballs, green and red peppers, crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, with some garlic and other seasonings of choice.
  18. As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a reissue program for the Contemporary or Fantasy material. I think the K2's were the latest reissues.
  19. I told my wife what you are planning on doing and she thought that was pretty romantic! ...now the pressure's on me when we hit 25
  20. When it comes to clay, Nadal is a player of another caliber. It can be argued that Federer is the world's second best clay court player, but you would never know it today. He faired better on the clay court ATP tour but today he was just simply out-classed and it was painful to watch. Too many unforced errors, no back-up strategy and just being sinply out-played. You'd think Federer would've studied the last three years of videos of R. Garros finals/semi-finals, and try to figure out how to beat Nadal; in turn he was beat by a player who's clay court game is nearly flawless. Concerning other surfaces, I think Nadal is breaking through at least on grass; he was in the final with Federer last year at Wimbledon. edit to say that even Djokovic gave a more challenging match to Nadal than Federer did in the final
  21. Ok, so I've been wondering for awhile: who knows what the proposed third batch was gonna be?
  22. "Ornette Coleman (15) (not counting "On Tenor" )" I did
  23. Thanks Clifford and PLM; have a copy on hold.
