  1. Thanks 7/4! Man, we had some good times here. I'm sorry to hear you've had hard times too. I've been told that what doesn't kill me will make me stronger, but I've found that it has just made this ol' cat mangy. lol
  2. This is the first time I've logged-in since 2006 and I just wanted to say hello. I appreciate you all for being the wonderful friends you were to me back then. I loved my time on this board! I'm sorry I haven't been around, but life has chewed me up quite a bit and I haven't been much fun. I hope there's still a place for me here. I'd love to join back in on the fun.
  3. They threw him out of the pizza biz because he kept stealing the flour, I think. But seriously, folks. Search around on the Web a little and you can find a couple of Bit Torrents of that Playboy After Dark video. (TC gets more screen time than Pigpen!) Reminds me of that old SNL skit with the Greek restaurant with the famous line "no Coke, Pepsi"... but in Papa John's case it would be "no Pepsi, Coke." Speaking of Playboy. Have any of you watched that reality show on "E" that shows life in the Playboy mansion. It's Grandpa Hef and his young girlfriends. Weird stuff! It was strange when the grandmother of one of Hef's girlfriends visited. She looked younger than Hef... I must say I do love that version of Mountains Of The Moon on Playboy After Dark.
  4. Why Moose! Why did your ears prick up over the word payroll? There's lots of work that needs to be done in BFE, I mean Louisiana! Packing the dirt on the dirt roads, (Gotta have smooth roads for the Moonshiners)re-wickering the lanterns, patching up the tin roofs, and those modern outhouses won't build themselves! I just just see Jazzmoose tearing it up Dukes Of Hazzard style down in Louisiana... Yee haw! Speaking of stereotypes... I thought when I moved to Northern California that everyone would be into the Grateful Dead and be hippies or something... What a disappointment. About 1/3 the people I've met here are transplants from SoCal. Actually, I guess I'm glad that this isn't hippie central. I remember some of those smells from my Dead show days... Berigan - I'm diggin' the Ashley Simpson doing the lip-sync jig avatar.
  5. I hear ya. I promise not to resurrect the Stupid Question thread...
  6. Back in the early 90's my roomates and I would drive up to Aron's from Orange County. It was such a treat. A typical haul would include a couple Bear Family reissues, a Nurse With Wound cd, some Incredible String Band or Scott Walker imports, and a bunch of ESP reissues... There was always something cool to pick up.
  7. You guys (and gals) are the best!! I am going to stop by more often. Now... I just need to think of something interesting to say...
  8. Happy Birthday Patricia!! I hope it's the best one yet!!
  9. Happy Birthday 7/4!! I hope it's a good one!
  10. THANK YOU!!! I knew I had to check the Big-O. Your birthday greetings have meant so much to me in the past. I can't thank all of you enough. I sure do miss hangin' around here! Heck, I'm not even sure if I know how to post anymore (LOL). I'm sorry I haven't stopped by in a long time. I get very little time on the computer due to my new career. Life has a real way of throwing curveballs. I never imagined I'd leave a career in graphic design for life insurance (and work four times harder for half the dough). Having time to listen and talk about jazz seems like a memory. I know things will get easier and I hope I can drop by more in the future. I appreciate your friendship and patience with this old cat (I know I got some emailin' to do...)! Thanks again and I hope to talk to you soon! :rsmile: P.S. - It was a very nice birthday.
  11. Oh that will be fun! It's been a long long time since I last saw this, so the cars will even be cooler! Thanks for the heads up! Gumball! ← I just know that everytime I see that movie, I develop a severe lead foot. Yikes!
  12. Here's a guilty pleasure that I've been waiting for a long, long time. The Gumball Rally (1976) I saw this in the theatre when I was seven years old and it has always been a favorite. IMO it's 100 times better than the Cannonball Run. I just love the watching those great cars. Release date - August 30, 2005 BTW - I too am excited about the Thin Man set.
  13. Cool site! I'm sending the link to some of my friends who are learning guitar. Heck, I can probably learn a little myself. Thanks!
  14. Tom, I'm glad to see you got through the Homes Tour. I felt for you. You seemed like you were buried alive by it. As one who has been in a major funk lately, I wish you all the best and hope for things to get back to normal for you. I wouldn't feel bad about the blindfold test. It was a daunting task you took on with all the various cds. Even though I haven't participated in the conversations, I've enjoyed the music....THANKS!
  15. Thanks for the info Chalupa! Those sets sound great. I'm excited about hearing a soundboard of 8/6/71. I love that show and it contains my favorite version of "Hard To Handle." The story is that Garcia dropped to his knees during the solo. It was smokin'. I better start saving for that 10-disc set.
  16. I picked up the new Stephen Malkmus album today and I"m a diggin' it. Pitchforkmedia.com gave it a really good review also (and they hate everything )
  17. I'm not following this trial, but is Spector pleading insanity? If so... the hair fits. It's a nice look he's got going there. He'll be the belle of the cell block.
  18. Ernest T. was a great character. Andy Griffith was smart to not have him on too often, E.T. Bass would have ended up taking over like Urkel or the Fonz on their respective shows. I loved the chaos that he brought to Mayberry. Since they made a spinoff of the Andy Griffith show anyway, I wish they would have sent Ernest T. off the Marines instead of Gomer Pyle. Now that would have been a funny show. Instead of Gollllleeee Sgt. Carter, you'd have had the good Sgt. getting the Ernest T. treatment.
  19. Maybe he's gonna join the Hair Bear Bunch.
