I have had my eyes opened on a number of issues because of posts on the politics forum. So here's one who's changed their opinion because of it. In the beginning here it was cool because we were all BNBB refuges and there was a real comradery because of it. I just wish we could get back to that place of friendship and I hope that new members might understand this was a huge component in making this board the way it was/is. In my opinion, this forum is a "politics-lite" type of board. I'm sure nastiness is normal on a politics only board, but this place is more like a backyard bbq where we're just sharing our opinions, yet at the core of it all, we're friends first. I'm like you Dave, I was all fired up over the election. Now that it's come to pass, I'll go in there when I'm feeling the spirit, but I've tried to stay out of it overall. I have a question. Just as their is a way turn of the political forum for those who don't want to see it; is it possible to have the reverse. Instead of it being a member's only thing, could it be accessible to only those who request to view it. I guess this would be a logistical nightmare for you Jim, and I think the member's only thing is fine.

This thread always deserves to come up for air. -
That's a very reasonable idea. Edit: There are a lot of boards that are going to where you have to be a member just to VIEW the board. I don't like that approach, so I think this is quite reasonable.

I mentioned the same thing to the store owner as I traded in my old copy. He said he preferred the new copy. What a salesman! I enjoy the aged look of the RVG covers. It makes me feel like I actually sprung for the vinyl.

I may note that a person may not be posting here, but even if wishing them a happy birthday seems useless, I'll do it anyway. IMO, I'd rather have someone send me their good wishes (even if I don't get or read them) then to be forgotten. I understand why people leave when it gets a little surly. My response is to keep posting and swing the place into a positive direction. I don't care if some look down upon my silly pictures/posts, it doesn't matter to me. I'm just happy to bring a laugh, even if you're laughing AT me. I know I'm grateful for the friendships I've developed here. This is a great place and I know it will continue to be one.

Thank you for your post! I just finished watching the encore. Next week: Lady From Shanghai with Welles and a blonde Rita Hayworth. -
Did ya know that they were still alive and kickin?

They had an interview with Charles Lane last week on the today show. To tell the truth, I didn't know his name, but I sure knew his face. It was nice to see he was in good health. I had no idea he was still around. I guess he worked until he was 90. -
Nice guitars! I like your choices, you're covering the different bases nicely. I like hardtail strats too. I don't have one right now, but I did in the past, and it was a great guitar. I think I know why the original pickups went back in your Les Paul... Have fun!

but... It's Andrew Hill. I wouldn't mind.

Thanks for sharing this, Chris!

You guys have some great routines. I think I might borrow some of them myself.
-
They do but it's the Santana model and I don't like the look of the pickguards. That's too bad. The guitar looks good with the chrome and black pickups. That's a hard choice.

I'm glad your Broadway is sounding better Scott! What about looking into selling your Danelectro? I'd check the ebay prices for them.

I just wrote a long reply to your last message and lost my wireless connection... I'm glad you found a new store, Scott. It's easy to support merchants who respect their customers. Don't they make PRS SE guitars with humbuckers? I'm concerned that the P90's are wider than the humbucker pickup rings. I might be wrong, though. It's been really fun talking guitars and I hope we continue to do so. If I had cash, I'd have been at the guitar store already...

That's a very cool routine, Joe. I wish I was as disciplined. My main routine is to strap my guitar on and play along to what I'm listening to or watching on TV. I love to play along with commericals and stuff. I figure it's just good ear training. I also like playing songs from memory. I've been doing lessons with a program called Guitar Pro. People submit tabs that you can download for free and this program plays them using midi. You can then view tab to see what was played and listen to it as it was played. I also bought some cool training courses from Truefire.com a while back and have enjoyed those. I'm not a good reader, so it really helps being able to hear what the notes are supposed to be doing. I'm an ear player. Give me any melody and I can play it, but I slow way down when I start reading.

The Lady Eve is available as a Criterion Collection DVD. I've got it. Sullivan's Travels is amazing also. There's so much to like about Sturges' films. -
It's even worse for us west-coasters... Just wait a few hours. Do you know how much it stinks that EVERYTHING is tape-delayed? We watch a replay on New Years of you guys having your celebration from 3 hours before. It's the same with everything. We rarely see anything live on TV. Heck, even "live from New York" SNL is NEVER live for us.

Yes, that's a GREAT film. I love Preston Sturges movies. -
I do hope to hear that guitar on the next Organissimo cd. I played a Jazzica after you told me about yours and I came really close to getting one myself, but I bought my Gretsch instead. They are very nice guitars.

I wasn't aware of all that. Pretty lame! I believe that any finished product reflects the spirit in which it was created, and I feel much better about supporting a company that has a positive and holistic approach to doing business. Finding out about what Gibson's doing makes me want those guitars even less! It's hard, I feel the same way. Part of me feels cool about boycotting the company, but then I remember that the people who would probably be hurt the most are the employees. Even with that in mind, I'd rather support another company instead. If I buy another Gibson, I'll probably just buy used. It just taints the whole thing for me. That's too bad about the Jazzica. I have some guitars like that and I had a girlfriend like that once. OOF! Have you played many other archtops? I've considered the Heritage 575. They seem to be somewhat reasonably priced on the used market.

Allen, I was only commenting over Couw's reaction. I don't have any issue. The Denny thing didn't bother me much. We all have our own opinions. Next to Charlie Parker, ALMOST EVERYONE is a hack.
