  1. It's fun getting out there! I keep thinking of the pictures of Coltrane holding his side (in pain) from his visit to Japan in '66. It looked like he was really hurting. I think your connection is quite valid. I also agree that the spiritual aspect was probably from a previous period. I think JC knew who he was, and in his self knowing, probably knew he was dying.
  2. I was listening to INTERSTELLAR SPACE this morning and this post came to mind. I think you're right on, Jazzbo. I can hear the pain, he must have been experiencing, in his music. I also wonder if he knew his time was short, and he was trying to get as much in as possible. I just sense a huge amount of FEELING in his music. Not feeling, as in a groove, but FEELING as in JC putting his essence into the music.
  3. I thought this was the typical Organissimo poster:
  4. Sure do! He was fun to knock out. My favorite was the guy with the turban. When the little jewel would flash a certain way, you could knock him out.
  5. Scott, I was talking about the Ibanez Artcores. Ibanez makes some great high end guitars. I used to have a very nice Ibanez Artist. Sorry if I came across too strong.
  6. Anoushka Shankar is a beauty. Did any of you see the "Concert For George (Harrison)". Her performance was wonderful.
  7. I agree with Jim. I'd rather have one fine guitar than a roomful of subpar guitars. Having said that, there is room for cheap guitars IMO, but if I had a choice between a nice Gibson or 10 Ibanez guitars. I'd take the Gibson.
  8. "Go ahead.... make my day."
  9. I'd love to see a movie about Clifford Brown. From all I've read, he seemed like a great guy.
  10. Heck, if Christians have to listen to the drek they do, than it's only fair for the Satanists to suffer.
  11. B3-er will tell you to funk off!
  12. How about at 20,000? Funk! I need to get out more.
  13. Here's couw's picture (for those of use who couldn't see it). It's Heino!!!
  14. I have some of the Blue Moons already, but I prefer the Mosaic so far. One thing I love about Mosaic sets is the fact that I can sell it for more than I paid in the first place (once it's out of print). Now those Blue Moons are a different story...
  15. Here's another cheap archtop: Agile AS-901 People have been raving about Agile guitars over at the harmony-central.com forums and the Fender Discussion Page. I picked up a cheap Les Paul copy and it was built well. The Agile's are made in Korea, while the Ibanez Artcores are made in China (if that matters to you).
  16. Thanks 7/4! I don't know if we're allowed to have ourselves un-blocked. If I was in there, I'd be apologizing for many views I used to hold.
  17. But wouldn't a Hindu see God in everything? (the way I understand these things...) I could see a Hindu version of "oneness" in Simon's idea. The intensity of the experience. If a person had an experience of "oneness", it probably would blow them out of their shoes.
  18. That's a really cool interpretation, Simon! I'm going to go back and listen with that visual in mind. Later period Coltrane is more like an experience than just music.
  19. Later period Coltrane really pisses off my wife.
  20. Hey, nobody's mentioned Heino!
  21. I never have enjoyed LISTENING to OM as much as the other albums, but I still find it to be an interesting experiment.
  22. I have in the past. I just learned to change strings one at a time. and...you're welcome!
  23. Is this the place you're thinking of? http://www.southpaw.net/
