  1. It depends on the resolution. At 72dpi (which is the resolution of the computer screen), a 4.75"x 4.75" cover would be 342 pixels by 342 pixels. At 300dpi (which is a good printing resolution), a 4.75"x 4.75" cover would be 1425 pixels by 1425 pixels. I hope this helps.
  2. That last time I took psychedelic drugs (over 10 years ago, mushrooms), I made a point to listen to ASCENSION while peaking. The music was frightening at first, but soon it developed a multi-dimensional quality to me. Music to me has always been linear, but in that experience, the music was a real thing, like a building, etc... Example. When standing next to a river, it is there, yet at the same time, it's always moving.
  3. I know this will probably sound crazy, but I sense an effort on Coltrane's part (in his later recordings) to bring different vibrations to his playing. His use of tremelo on some of his last recordings make me think that he was trying to change the vibrations into a sort of stillness. Now, I know I've really lost it.
  4. I've been revisiting some of the eighties McMasters and, though they lack some of the detail of the RVG's, some are pretty good. I just wish the RVG's weren't so loud. I must have been hanging out the the Hoffman forum too much, because the loudness can get fatiguing.
  5. Thanks for your input, Simon. I read Yogananda's books as a teenager and really loved them. Maybe that's why I felt the draw to Coltrane's music. I understood the word "Om" to represent "the oneness" of life. His music did seem to represent many aspects at the same time. Maybe I'll re-read "Autobiography of a Yogi".
  6. I think you're right. I must not be getting enough oxygen to my brain.
  7. Just checked the Mosaic site this morning. This set has now entered the LAST CHANCE category.
  8. We've become sheep. Baaaaa.
  9. I feel the same way about it, but it's such a curiosity to me. At this point, my favorite late period Coltrane is STELLER REGIONS. I just love the tremelo effect of his playing.
  10. The second jazz album I ever bought was John Coltrane's OM. What a shock it was to me! I was just curious if anybody here knew the story behind this album. I've read that Coltrane recorded an album while on LSD. Is this true? If that is the case, is this that album (It sounds like it to me)? What about the spirituality of John Coltrane? He's always been on another level to me.
  11. In my neverending quest to lose my mind, I've been reading "Tales From the Time Loop" by David Icke.
  12. Welcome Paco! Anyone who loves the song "River Man" is alright in my book.
  13. I'd suggest something with the words "overlord" or "uber" in the title. Funk Overlord Uberfunker
  14. I hope you have a great birthday, Evan!
  15. That commercial creeps me out!
  16. If you've ever had the desire to tell a chicken what to do. Here's the site for you: http://www.subservientchicken.com/
  17. Thanks Alexander! I'm on my first run through of this disc. So far, I really like it. I don't know if I'll be able to make correct guesses, but I'll post more after I've heard it a few more times. :rsmile:
  18. Jim, I think I need a scorecard!
  19. RIGHT ON!
  20. I want to get the Mulligan and the Parlan sometime. Including my recent purchase from this morning, I've ordered 4 Mosaic Completes and two Selects in the last couple of weeks. My recent, yet undelivered, order is two Completes and two Selects. I wonder how large the shipping box will be? The most I ever ordered at one time, from Mosaic, till now, has been two Complete boxes. I suppose Mosaic will ship all items in the same package? It should come in one box. I received two regular sets plus four selects in one box. As usual, packed very well.
  21. This will be my son's first real Easter. We're taking him to see the Easter Bunny on Saturday. He's really excited. I hope you all have a safe and nice holiday.
  22. I really shouldn't have done this, but I also ordered: Gerry Mulligan Horace Parlan Joe Pass I think I've gone nuts, I took two years off and then ordered 9 sets plus 4 selects within a three week period.
  23. I remember reading that you were trying to decide which SINGLE Vee Jay set to purchase. But, I see how it is, you purchased BOTH sets. Ha! Yeah, I'm back to some of my old ways. But.... I really am going to slow down ..... and I didn't even mention the other sets I ordered with the Vee-Jays (I was just too embarrassed )
