  1. There's some very funny clips of Mr. Jeni's stand up on youtube. It's incredibly sad that someone with this wonderful sense of humor found life too depressing to carry on. RIP.
  2. I love this game! I'm up to level 9! You're a much better video game player than I am, Alexander. I can't get past the first level!
  3. My picks are in! I've watched maybe ten games all year.
  4. Speaking of overlooked teams, Utah's looked pretty damn tough lately!
  5. Flip Saunders is the Pistons' weakest, most unproven link. They're still my pick to come out of the East and I don't think they'll be a pushover in the Finals. I'd like to see Chicago knock Detroit out, I'm a fan of all those great young players. If Wade decides to pull another of his miracle comebacks, the Heat could repeat. Then again, I haven't watched Shaq's apparent resurgence. I didn't think they could win last year, so I'm not going to count them out again. I wonder if Yao and TMac will make a push out West. I'd like to see them throw a wrench in Dallas or Phoenix' plans, or better yet San Antonio's. The West might just beat each other up enough that the Eastern champ will be fresher in the Finals.
  6. Nope! If Wade makes it back and is immediately 100% you guys have a chance, otherwise I don't think the forecast is good. As of now I have to think it's the Pistons out East and a dog fight out West between the Mavs, Suns, and Spurs. Should be a great playoffs!
  7. Remember what BELL did to Kobe in the playoffs last year. The white guys haven't hit back. BELL didn't let Kobe slide Alot of the "white guys" have been little guys too. That punk Raja was just sore from Kobe torching him all over the floor.
  8. It's been creeping up to the 90s out here by early afternoon the last few days. I slept with my bedroom windows open last night. Damn that groundhog.
  9. Been hovering around $2.90 to $3 out here for a while.
  10. Not if Dirk has anything to say about it! I'd rather see Dallas win than Phoenix, but either one would make me want to hurl.
  11. Abbey over at JC said the Lakers are getting Walton and Odom back next game, that would be huge. I wouldn't know because I can barely stomach to look. They've looked simply pathetic of late.
  12. 81-52, ugh. Glad I haven't been watching.
  13. Papa Shaw Slick
  14. Happy Birthday Joe Christmas! You're well-missed.
  15. Happy Birthday Free! I'm very happy for you that you landed that great job!
  16. I'm pretty sure I've already said in this thread that Kobe tends to do that sort of thing. Not sure if I've seen him throw a "tantrum." It isn't like he racks up technical fouls like Rasheed Wallace from a few years back. I think there is a negative perception of Kobe coloring some of your glasses as much as a positive one colors my own.
  17. For what it's worth, Marco Jaric said he didn't think Kobe did it on purpose. This is true.
  18. By grouping them all together and limiting it to 50 players they've subjected them to comparison across the years. Could Paul Arizin fill it up like Ray Allen? Jump shots didn't even look the same back then. Even within the list--Superman Mikan couldn't check Shaq or Hakeem.
  19. OK, so Greer was a gamer. I also heard Pippen had some sort of financial problems with a jet he bought.
  20. Was Rocky III the first, or possibly only, movie which began with a montage?
  21. "Big Game" James Worthy often played his best ball when it mattered most, putting up 40+ points in crucial playoff games. He had that sweet spin move in the post and could really finish around the basket or on the break. Scottie was awesome playing next to MJ, time to review some Classic Sports footage of the Bulls at their peak. However, that 50 greatest NBA players list is really a joke, for the reasons you state. It's WAY dated. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Nate Archibald Paul Arizin (no idea who this is) Charles Barkley Rick Barry Elgin Baylor Dave Bing Larry Bird Wilt Chamberlain Bob Cousy Dave Cowens Billy Cunningham Dave DeBusschere Clyde Drexler Julius Erving Patrick Ewing Walt Frazier George Gervin Hal Greer (Who?) John Havlicek Elvin Hayes Magic Johnson Sam Jones Michael Jordan Jerry Lucas Karl Malone Moses Malone Pete Maravich Kevin McHale (if we're questioning Worthy for benefitting a lot from great teammates, zombie-man has to get the same treatment) George Mikan Earl Monroe Hakeem Olajuwon Shaquille O'Neal Robert Parish (again, the Chief benefitted from that great Celtics team as much as Worthy did from the Lakers or Pippen from the Bulls--Bird was clearly their greatest player) Bob Pettit Scottie Pippen Willis Reed (what, because he played hurt and had a clutch playoff game?) Oscar Robertson David Robinson Bill Russell Dolph Schayes (c'mon now) Bill Sharman (puhlease) John Stockton Isiah Thomas Nate Thurmond Wes Unseld Bill Walton (What did he play, two healthy seasons?) Jerry West Lenny Wilkens James Worthy The following players could easily knock a few of those old-time players off this list, imo: Tim Duncan Steve Nash Kobe Bryant Dirk Nowitzki
  22. Damn, I was trying to be funny. Remind me to not do that.
