Cleveland fans already feel betrayed, since none of the big-name free agents have signed with the Cavs and LeBron didn't recruit so much as delay his decision until it was too late. He hamstrung the organization with this "circus." I imagine that makes him a villain to some no matter what. If he joins Miami, in my opinion he's joining D.Wade's team, to operate under D.Wade's leadership as a proven winner, essentially demoting himself from his leadership role. If he joins New York, his team will be about the 4th best in the East and perhaps no better than Chicago, with Boston, Orlando, and now Miami all looking stronger. His best bet is to join the Clippers, where he'll have a young, balanced core of players far from those he betrayed in Cleveland.

At the beginning, when I knew almost none of the players, I started buying things from various series of reissues. The Blue Note Rare Groove series and RVG series and Connoisseur series, the Fantasy Legends Of Acid Jazz Series, the CTI series with the lime green cardboard digipacks, the 32 Jazz stuff...pretty much all bought semi-blind. Prior to that I bought a bunch of compilations in an attempt to learn names I might be interested in. Then I found this Blue Note Bulletin Board with a bunch of loons who knew everything about every jazz recording which ever happened, and soon I knew every time I bought an album it would be a great one.

I have a compilation called Eat To The Beat which features many of the tracks mentioned here. Love it! It's funny, there's tons of blues/r&b/pop/whatever songs that are obviously about sex. Throw a dirty word in the mix, and be obvious about the subject, suddenly it's a nasty song! Here's a song which involves inviting a girl over for sex, chatter about knowing how to put it down in bed, and getting her to cheat on her man...but it's slightly less obvious, so I guess that means it's not dirty. Or was this considered a dirty song back then?

Man, there's so many bad calls throughout a game it's tough to put too much weight on any one of them. I will say the refs clearly had an agenda, in every game. Worst game the Lakers played all year, save the run that got them the lead in the 4th. Stifling defense from the Celts, who never showed an ounce of quit. The Lakers are my team and have been my whole life, so I'm stoked to see them get another title. I have little doubt the Celtics would have won had Perkins not gotten injured. Condolences, Boston fans! That was an unlucky break.

For those who have listed artists, is there any one song or group of songs by each artist which is an exception to your overall impression of their discography? McLean's "Poor Eric" or Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" or Lou Donaldson "One Cylinder" are personal favorites of mine, and even if I find other tunes boring/grating/etc. there's always those peak tracks. I'm sure that's true for every artist here...isn't it?

Not sure how I'd respond in this thread. I have a tons of albums that I neglect...but when I come back to 'em I'm glad I have 'em. All the same I tend to keep coming back to favorite tracks more than anything else. Those perfect moments where the melodies and solos come together so strong. I'm more sporadically "left cold" than anything I could blame on any one musician.
