  1. Yeah, I figured the Bruins would go down--but I thought the seniors would play better. What a whoopin'.
  2. Congratulations, .:.!
  3. Mom's rose garden... Sequoia... Red Rock... Yosemite... Ensenada sunrise... Ensenada sunset...
  4. Their earliest albums (Organix, Do You Want More, Illadelph Halflife) are their best, but every album has had its moments. They're always best live when Rahzel, the beat box guy, is performing with the band.
  5. Forget that, watch this! Yes, that's me.
  6. That's what I'm talking about. FEEL THE LOVE!
  7. Thanks everybody! This is, hands down, the most knowledgeable (and tasteful) online community for music and always a place where I feel I am amongst friends.
  8. Thanks guys! ::beer
  9. The refs must have ruled that Harris had the ball knocked free momentarily by the defender to negate the traveling. Miraculous shot. Lakers play against Durant and the artists formerly known as Sonics tonight. Durant is averaging just over 33ppg this month.
  10. By coincidence, when I first looked at this thread, I was listening to the tune "Verse" by Bobby Hutcherson. Any relevence?

  13. Our friend Jon Abbey shared this insightful article at his chat board.
  14. I want to see the other 103 names, and hear the rest of them apologize. May as well at this point. Baseball would be better off if the public didn't know about any of it. I wonder how many have used speed to get an edge, since the time when amphetamines were invented. You know, they weren't always illegal and would be prescribed to cure hiccups. The whole Nazi army was on amphetamines in WW2, you think some of those old players weren't using them to react quicker to the ball? First ballot Hall Of Famer Ricky Henderson admitted he was high on cocaine when he stole his record bag. Who liked a little nose candy throughout the history of the game? How many players dip? Chewing tobacco heightens the senses too. Should we ban coffee? I hear some players eat a bunch of candy bars before a game for a sugar rush...I mean, I'm just having a hard time processing why one way of getting an advantage is so much worse just because it involves power as opposed to reaction time. The pitchers were weaker, the ball was juiced, the players were juiced...so what? It was fun to watch. I'm sick of the whole issue. It distracts from the game, and I get to watch more blabbing sportswriters and less highlights.
  15. I just received Merle Haggard 20 Greatest Hits (Capitol) from BMG, along with Roy Ayers You Send Me (Verve). Still waiting for Fats Domino Greatest Hits: New Orleans. Total charge so far $5.58. I'm going to miss BMG's deals.
  16. 61, most all-time at MSG. Kobe is second all-time in 60+ point games only to Wilt Chamberlain, who did it more than 30 times. Bryant's 20-20 from the free throw line is also in the top five all-time for most free throws without a miss.
  17. ARTHUR: If you will not show us the Grail, we shall take your castle by force! FRENCH GUARD: You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets. Thpppppt! Thppt! Thppt! GALAHAD: What a strange person. ARTHUR: Now look here, my good man-- FRENCH GUARD: I don't wanna talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
  18. Thanks Sundog, Chuck, Chris, PhillyQ, and Paps. I have actually followed the approach Chuck describes for a good percentage of my collection, but even more often I've just read a poster here rave about something good and I'll get it. For example, in some random thread Chuck described the Dizzy Reece Blue Note albums as "special" to him. Trusting Chuck's impeccable taste, I bought the Mosaic Select, which I am listening to now. What I was really hoping for is that the trained eyes here would see the holes better than my own--and I think they have! Great recommendations all around.
  19. What a collection. It's true that there's too much Donald Byard. But there's no Viktor Vaughan and that is a record! Donald Byrd is one of the first jazz musicians I ever started collecting, so that's why I have so much from him. Plus I think he's great. Free/Avant garde/out jazz, pre-1950s jazz, and vocalists have not been a focal point for me, although I've started to dig all three recently. Thanks for the advice, LYM and umum_cypher. John L--will do with Lester. I've only got the one disc with the Oscar Peterson trio thus far. Thanks!
  20. From what I understand a retailer going out of business will make more money selling its stock to other retailers--that's why CC isn't slashing prices for the public.
  21. When that particular font is small, it is illegible. I really appreciate the recs, fellas. MG--I was happy to find that Bembeya Jazz National collection on eMusic, I first heard them on your BFT.
