I had problems with authority figures, a very short fuse, and a foul-mouthed temper. This led to technical fouls, ejections for throwing helmets, fights, etc. I learned to control it but it soured my reputation with a lot of people. I played basketball (guard), baseball (left field), and football (halfback and safety). At about 11 I picked up skateboarding and by the time I was 14 I quit all the organized sports to skateboard. I got back into hoops in high school and was furious to not make the team despite being told by the coach that I was his best defender. I actually played my best basketball in my 20s, long after any of the team stuff mattered. There was a long stretch where I shot around every day for my exercise, and I didn't ride my skateboard all that often. Then at the beginning of this year, skateboarding was calling to me again. I thought, "if I don't do it now, I'll never feel that again." I've been going to a concrete skatepark several times a week all year. No referees. No competition. It really suits me more than any other sport.

Sports: 2008 NFL weekly pool

I think only Van B has a chance at this point. There aren't enough games left in the season for anyone else to make up that much ground. -
Thanks Van B. I guess I'm going to be the under.

Is the CFL like the Arena rules with wide receivers running perpendicular to the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped? It sounds like everyone is expecting a defenseless shootout of epic proportions.

I'll take Calgary and 40 points.

The Lakers played like a JV girls' team last night, and the poor play was somewhat a carryover from their Tuesday night 4th quarter against New Orleans when they nearly squandered a 21-point lead. On the flip side the Pistons shot about 65% and had errant threes and free throws banking in. Can't win 'em all, and some nights the ball bounces the other way. The key to the Lakers' success so far has been balance, from both the first and second teams.

I've only recently become a fan, I love her tune "Lumumba" and have a fine album of hers called A Promise. RIP.

I'm definitely a fan. Some of my favorite of his tunes are: Superman Lover You've Got A Hard Head It's All About You A Real Mother For Ya Telephone Bill I need to dig up some of his older recordings, I've only delved into the funky stuff from the 70s so far.

Very strange problem, not one I've encountered. I would try removing the iTunes software and re-installing it, then re-loading your library from your external. I'm not sure if you do, Harold, but I never use the "Sync" function. I load the music onto my iPod, then I delete the files from my computer to keep the hard drive from getting overloaded. Then I use a program called "Ipod Access" to back up the entire iPod onto an external.

I've cut my posting and time on the board down considerably due to being unemployed since the end of June. So, I've been trying to be productive with my time. I'll gladly drop in and chat if I know when it's going to happen.

What do you think of the "I came across..." thread
Noj replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Chris, it is easily one of my favorite threads on the board. Thank you for sharing all those cool memories and images with us. -

Damn, I was at a wedding all afternoon and long into the night yesterday and I forgot to make my picks. The system has locked me out. None of the games have started, here's my picks. Miami Dallas Minnesota New Orleans Pittsburgh San Diego New York(NYG) Tennessee Houston Washington Indianapolis New York(NYJ) Tampa Bay Denver 52pts -
Congrats, Phillies fans. There was an embarrassing article in today's LA Times about rowdy Dodger fans dumping beers on and picking fights with visiting Phillies fans. Is it like that at other stadiums, or is it just the leftover Raider fans? Stupid jerks make the team look bad. I do a lot of tailgating at UCLA home games and I always enjoy how cool it is to have some friendly banter with the visiting fans. Trash talk with a smile, or just be a good ambassador for the Bruins. These jackasses who attack visiting fans have zero class and don't deserve to root for the Dodgers.

I've always heard the ground can't cause a fumble. That was an INT in my book. I was surprised it wasn't reviewed. It didn't factor too heavily in the decision, though. Texas made the big plays down the stretch. T.D. - My brother's friend, who we refer to as "The Almanac," says Penn State is that good.

While on a boat, you slip and fall overboard. As you struggle to climb back in, your hands are chopped off by the motor's blades. You sink beneath the water as you bleed profusely. Rough! I'd expect better balance and more caution from myself.

Keep fightin', Bruce! :bwallace2:

Catesta is cooking at the World Wide Organissimo Conference in Austin, Texas. I can't wait. Dibs on Lon's couch. I had a nice salad with honey mustard vinaigrette and spaghetti with garlic bread tonight.

I've only eaten at Roscoe's once--talk about a calorie overload. I'll give them this much though--their waffles are second to none.

Digression thread: Coherence is overrated

I momentarily mistook this for the "McCain to suspend campaigning to work on economy" thread. -
That's college football for you! I thought the Trojans would stomp the Beavers by about seven touchdowns. However, USC has lost two of the last three meetings at OSU, maybe it's a coaching matchup?

PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk
Noj replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Am I alone in finding it interesting that cow's milk is (almost) universally accepted as more appetizing than human milk? Don't get me wrong, I love milk--but this idea that the milk from our own women is somehow less palatable than bovine breast excretions is ironic. I mean, wouldn't a lady's breast milk, if pasteurized, fortified with vitamins A&D, and refrigerated to an ice cold temperature be just as good? I don't remember what it tastes like. They'd need a lot of lactating ladies to churn out all those flavors!
