  1. I really like The Almoravid, so this will be a no-brainer for me next round with emusic.
  2. Well, from a person who's done a great deal of figure drawing, I've found a great number of the Olympic athletes to be amazing specimens of human anatomy--particularly the Jamaican sprinters but not exclusively. It is only through intense effort over a long period of time that physiques reach such maximized potential.
  3. Unemployed here for the better part of two months. I hope it doesn't come to that. *gulp* Wishing you better luck, SS1.
  4. I'm most aggravated about not being able to see highlights of the events on ESPN. NBC doesn't show the highlights frequent enough that I've been able to catch them, they just squirrel the footage away from everyone else. I want to see the men's basketball highlights, dammit!
  5. Not too concerned about the W/L column in preseason. McFadden looked outstanding, and I like what I've seen from Russell so far. The secondary is loaded with talent. This Raiders team has great skill players, they just need linemen.
  6. Baked chicken with barbecue sauce, baked potatoes with cheddar, sour cream, and green onions, corn on the cob, Hawaiian bread, watermelon, and red grapes. It's been hours, but I'm still basking in the glory.
  7. Your internet preferences may have been changed to a setting which refuses "cookies."
  8. Hey, Noj, I've been on a blues jag, too. There's lots of good stuff on eMu. Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Deborah Coleman (check her out), Luther Allison, Jimmy Dawkins ... to name a few. I would even toss in the Jack Bruce/Robin Trower album - very bluesy. Thanks for the recs, BF. I'm also planning on checking out that Steve Cropper disc. Got those, WB3! There's so much great reggae on emusic!
  9. I was thinking of going all blues, and ended up going all reggae today: Prince Douglas - Dub Roots Prince Jammy - Destroys The Invaders Augustus Pablo - In Fine Style Augustus Pablo - Rockers Meet King Tubby In A Fire House Dillinger - At King Tubby's Scientist - Encounters Pac-Man At Channel One Hmm, maybe a booster pack for a blues batch...
  10. Congratulations, Ed!
  11. Happy Birthday, Soul Stream!
  12. Thanks Agg! Snagged three Lee Morgans and Archie Shepp - Attica Blues.
  13. I'll be back to defend my title!
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. That was the first thing I did when I heard the news last night. RIP, Isaac Hayes.
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Happy Birthday, Shawn!
  18. Giving this yet another spin as I type. I love the variety of compositions.
  19. A belated happy birthday to both of you guys!
  20. Happy Birthday, Lon!
  21. I saw TDK tonight. I thought it was outstanding on all levels and can only echo all the praise being directed to the late Heath Ledger. What a performance!
  22. Well, I'm hoping that Manny and Casey Blake bring enough firepower to the lineup to help the Dodgers score runs. He's the first real home run threat on the team since Sheffield, I'm praying Manny's still got something in the tank. The Dodgers have been so offensively impotent for so long that I'm excited just to see a big bat on board. Hopefully the Dodger pitching can help Manny avoid being a circus in the outfield...
  23. ...wow, I didn't see the Manny to the Dodgers thing until after my last post. Crazy! Hell of a risk, considering Manny's bizarre behavior--but it will be great to have a real home run threat in the lineup if it happens.
  24. It's painful to think how much the Dodgers are paying that guy, or how much better the team would be if Andruw would play like he's worth it!
  25. By chance my mom was given four tickets to tonight's Dodger game against the Giants. Best seats I've ever had, about fifteen rows behind home plate just to the third base side. Three Dodger pitchers combined for a 2-0 shutout (Johnson, Park, Broxton). The second Dodger run was scored on a strange play, with newly acquired Casey Blake doubling down the third base line with James Loney on second, and Loney appeared to be thrown out at home. Apparently before the throw home the ball was "knocked out of play" which negated the out at home and resulted in the Dodgers runners advancing one base each.
