Importing/exporting UK/Europe after Brexit
Д.Д. replied to David Ayers's topic in Miscellaneous Music
OK, got back from the post office. The €45 tax-free threshold for private gifts seems to work (Hans, the Netherlands customs seems to confirm as much: https://www.belastingdienst.nl/wps/wcm/connect/bldcontenten/belastingdienst/individuals/abroad_and_customs/receiving_goods_from_abroad/ ). In my case, I was charged VAT because the sender did not indicate his name, so the customs could not confirm the package is from an individual (as opposed to a company). What's annoying is that on top of the VAT there is a €5 "processing" fee charged by the post here. -
Well, I can always fall back on "Kinda Green" by Djll / Perkis - I am the only person who bought this one. https://djll.bandcamp.com/album/kinda-green

Please don't, got to keep my rebel status intact. Will send you the full edition of Backstreet Boys for cooperation. Traveling to Austria from the US is relatively trouble-free, but UK is actually in the "red" zone, not sure how the Brits (Steve Beresford and Pat Thomas) will manage. Don't care about Thomas too much, but really would like to see Steve Beresford.

6-CD set? Severe case of braxonitis?

There is a 20% discount on this Webber / Morris big band recording at bandcamp valid till the end of the day today (August 8th) , the coupon is bcaugust20 Just bought me a copy. https://webbermorrisbigband.bandcamp.com/album/both-are-true Btw, this looks like quite a popular release on bandcamp - bought around 1000 times. With my going pop, I feel the need to question my values. Normally the stuff I buy is summarily ignored at bandcamp, reinforcing my image of a true rebel. For example, the most wonderful "Flockterkit" by Aram Shelton ( https://singlespeedmusic.bandcamp.com/album/flockterkit ) I bought recently is "in 4 other collections". Regarding live music, I am considering attending the Konfrontationen festival next week. I normally don't like festivals - too much music at one go for me, but just check out this line-up: https://www.konfrontationen.at/ko21/#

Importing/exporting UK/Europe after Brexit

Well, the Austrian customs page is fairly straightforward on this: Für private Geschenksendungen besteht die Abgabenfreiheit bis zu einem Warenwert von 45 Euro. I will probably go to the post office to retrieve my packages (one from UK another from Switzerland) tomorrow, let's see what they say. Will report. -

Well, the only thing I received was notification from the post office that I should come pick up my package - and pay some fee. Let's see what it is, I will try to get it reimbursed. Fun to ensue. -
A nice sale at erstwhile records: https://www.erstwhilerecords.com/news .

"Occasional" imports of gifts from individuals (not companies!) to individuals of value up to €45 is apparently not subject to VAT in the EU. I have something shipped from the UK this way at the moment to see if this works. -
Not necessarily new (actually a lot of old stuff), but Scott Fields is selling a lot of his CDs for just €5 from his website. Flat worldwide shipping regardless of the order size. https://www.scottfields.com/store

There is always 1984.

I was targeting for 2083, but I was extremely efficient.

Rolf Kühn Quintett "Solarius" is good (recorded 1964 in East Germany). It was reissued on CD in 2012 as a part of the very nice AMIGA JAZZ mini-series, an is already quite hard to find. Gil Cuppini - What's New Vol. 2 (recorded September 1961), a pan-European team of Italian Cuppini, French Wilen, Swiss Gruntz, Macedonian Goykovich and German Geier.

looking for someone in Japan to post some cds
Д.Д. replied to Harbour's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Well, amazon Japan will charge you UK VAT, 20%, but will subtract the Japanese one, 10%. There shouldn't be any additional charges upon import. -

Sorry for dumb question, but why don't you order from amazon Japan yourself? They deliver to the UK by DHL. -

It's a bit of a hassle, but you might want to consider contacting the Discogs sellers - more likely than not, they will be happy to sell to you directly. -
Ah, so that's what it is. In any case, I listened to that Hannibal album for the first time (thank you amazon) - it is good stuff indeed (except for the chanting track closer to the end).
-
Nice people at Edel (the current owner of MPS) have made a lot of MPS albums (including the Harper and Hannibal ones) available on streaming platforms.

I like Greene's music a lot, his klezmer projects including (coincidentally, I started listening to Klezmokum's "Le Dor Va Dor" today before I saw this thread). Recently bought this one https://balancepointacoustics.bandcamp.com/album/lifes-intense-mystery-mf193-as090 , did not listen to it yet:

Thee is a new one by Northwoods Improvisors as well, have not listend to it yet: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3a36NPSlZtXaO9K1KAhNKw

Rogueart gives 30% discount on their back catalog on June 19-22.

Yeah, that was my first exposure to Thomas, through "Transmissions". Got very excited and bought a few of his other CDs (duo with Gino Robair, some albums with a female vocalist...) and they were all quite weak.
