I said she may be a hack because I'm not sure what the art community would think about an artist who sold their stuff on ebay. I got no problem with it and I really liked her work so I'll probably get the painting. You just never know, people who "know" art may say that it's something any art major would do in oils class. She may be the Kenny G of oil paiinting! Didn't know of any taboos against ebay artists. I DO know, however, that you shouldn't have dental work done in some guys living room! (Guy from Mexico was busted here several months back.)

There are several artists who have shared bits of their work in the past and I've always enjoyed seeing their work. Thought it might also be interesting to see some members' taste in the visual arts. Post what you've got or even just what you like. The painting I'm posting is one I just happened across on ebay. What do you think? The artist my be a hack but it caught my untrained eye.

I just saw the highlights of the Brazil match and WOW, Adriano can finish! Robinho's goal went something like - Robinho to Adriano in the corner, centered to Kaka, sent to Ronaldo in the six yard box who layed it back to Rubinho for the finish. Who could stop that!

I think Adriano got the hat trick and Robinho added one of his own.

It took me two attempts at listening to the sample of Shape of Things to make it through the vocals to sample his playing. On the first attempt I just wasn't psychologically prepared to be sonicly violated like that. I had to abort the attempt and returned later once I mentally prepared myself and even then it wasn't easy!

And that is one of the great tragedies of the music industry. Your music would have to get worse in order for you to be more successful. If you guys added a DJ, a rapper and some hootchie dancers you could be HUGE!

Finally got through to my sister in Baton Rouge, things there are pretty crazy there as well. The population doubled essentially overnight. Before influx somewhere around 350,000, Greater BR area around 500,000. Schools are closed indefinitely and are trying to figure out how to make room for 40,000 new students, already bad traffic conditions just got a whole lot worse, gas shortages, grocery shortages (one of my sisters hasn't been able to find any bread for 3 days, the other took three trips to get milk and luckily got some meat because the delivery truck had just come.) increased crime with reports of hold ups, car jackings etc and general unrest both in and out of the shelters.

Sadly, this behavior is not new to NO. Emergency personel are fired upon often in the projects in New Orleans. Why? I have no idea.

I've been trying to get in touch with a friend who lived in Slidell and surely has lost everything. I would probably give him the money directly if not I think the Red Cross is the way to go. Unfortunately there will be scam relief efforts.

Yeah, I was thining about cancelling the trip in light of the events even though certainly we could find an alternative route. It just doesn't seem right to take a vacation when so many people are in dire need.

I'm supposed to fly out of New Orleans on vacation in October. That's probably not going to happen. I think the airport would be OK by then but I doubt commercial airlines will move back in if there is not a city to serve.
