  1. You are kidding, right? Certainly, McDonalds needs the Islets of Langerhans much more than the Isles need McDonald. But if all is well in the Isles, a few McDonalds wouldn't hurt, would it?
  2. I got a little package from Mr Nessa today! (The 60th anniversary of the event by the way.) I'm much more into hardbop, soul jazz, organ jazz etc but WOW!! This is one of those genre defying moments of greatness to be esteemed by everyone. This is now my definitive bebop recording, displacing Massey Hall which I now view as merely a fond look back to the glory which came eight years before! I enjoyed the reviews of the show included in the liner notes in which the reviewer wsa more concerned that a program was not followed!! That's rich stuff.
  3. That's what I've done. I've puchased the US release to replace my Spanish releases as soon as they become available. How long was I supposed to go without hearing TRUE BLUE or BASRA or THE COOKER or CURTIS FULLER VOL3 or... you get the picture? If BN has a problem with them spilling into the US market, then release a US version! I'll buy it.
  4. Adrian, The difference is that here in the states we can't roll out to the Chelsea drug store and get Codeine! If Jim's pain is not relieved with Ibuprofen he will have to see the Dr to get muscle relaxers and stronger pain meds.
  5. Great ! That way these guys don't get any money!
  6. I thought it was Greensleeves too! If it is, I been listenin to WAY too much B3 music. I just took the sample and looped it for three and a half minutes to make a full song. It reiterates, repititious redundencies over and over again, but it's still greazy!
  7. Now that the mix is in could we beg for a sound clip? Just maybe 30 secs of a tune to satify our collective Jones for the greaze?
  8. That helps a lot! I just had no idea where to start.
  9. It's just a SoundBlaster Audigy 2.
  10. Didn't know I needed one. I guess I was thinking on going straight into the microphone jack on my soundcard but I could send it into the input on my preamp / digital processor (I have an ART SGX LT designed for guitar. Would that work?)
  11. First, let me preface this question with some basic facts: 1. I know next to NOTHING about microphones. Don't know any brands, what frequencies ranges are good for what, don't know about diaphragms, cardioid, or condensors. 2. I am not and never will be a professional musician who needs studio quality equiptment. 3. I enjoy making multitrack recordings on my computer with some basic studio software. 4. Currently I achieve #3 by recording from guitar through a digital processor straight to my soundcard. The results are a VERY "nontube-like" sound. 5. I would lke to capture the great all tube sounds I get from my amp into my soundcard. Now the question: What would be a good microphone to mic an amp for these purposes? I get Musician's Friend so it would be easiest to recommend one from their selection. How about the MXL 990 cardioid condensor mic on sale for $59?
  12. Guitar project update: (almost too embarressed to post) Project 1: Since my last update I attempted to touch up that nasty little spot that keeps showing through which resulted in me eventually taking it all back down to wood! I have since reapplied primer and the paint and am waiting a few days before starting the clear coat (although I think with only one color, the wait is probably unnecessary.) Third times the charm, right? Project 2: After jumping through hoops to get my hands on the Magenta / Gold Mirage kit and ordering a second can of the color coat, I hated it! I could generate a slight color change by holding the guitar up the light, but 99% of the time it looked like a mixure of purple and gold which resembled a brownish / plum color which was not attractive at all. So I'm back down to wood again on this one too! My plan for this guitar now is to utilize a stencil kit which I got as a free offer from Duplicolor, and some of Duplicolor's new metallic flake paint. Thinking about blue with silver flames.
  13. Whenever I tell people I'm from Baton Rouge, the first thing they usually say is "You don't have an accent!" Everyone in Louisiana does not sound like Justin Wilson OK? And very few of us live in swamps or have gators in the backyard or take pirogues to work. It is kind of amusing to me that in my entire life the people who made the most of my "accent" were Texans. They really commented more on the laid back pace of my speech rather than any pronunciation differences.
  14. Saw this in the store today. Anyone have any opinions yet? Larry Goldings on B3, Wurlitzer, piano. Guest include Fathead Newman, Warren Haynes, John Mayer.
  15. The cut-outs are now $1.99!! If you ever thought about getting some of these, now's your chance. I can ship them to you for just over a buck each. Let me know if you're interested. I just picked up three more myself, Bruce Katz, Charles Fambrough, and The Bush Crew (Les Arbuckle, Mike Stern, Abercrombie)
  16. How about that blouse he is wearing in that photo. Have you ever worn a shirt with buttons like that other than a halloween party?
  17. I remember the movie we walked out of... it was ONE NIGHT AT McCOOL'S (why was I there to begin with? probably one of those nights where you get a babysitter but don't really have anything good planned so at the last minute you head to the movies where nothing is playing and then BAM... next thing you know your watchin' McCOOL'S)
  18. It's funny that no matter how bad a movie is, I don't consider walking out an option. Like somewhere along the way my mother told me it was rude so I never even consider it. Once my wife and I left at her request (because I didn't think of it) but was glad she suggested it. Usually I just sit through the thing and then talk about how much it sucked later. My wife and I have turned off DVDs before, usually if it's bad I just fall asleep on the couch. Al, I can't believe you walked on MEET THE PARENTS! I consider you my cyber twin. We were born in the same month and share similar views about most things discussed here on the board. I'm a bit shocked about this one.
  19. I am going crazy! The Dragon IIs have nickel covers. So we're back to Black trim, Chrome/Nickel PU look. Must be too many paint fumes!
  20. Project 2! Completed the sanding of the existing finish.
  21. Here's Black / Black optioin (not too keen on this one)
  22. When I first moved to Shreveport, LA, one of the first days there while driving home from school, I heard The Boys Are Back In Town. I thought to myself "Cool, hadn't heard that in a while, not a bad classic rock station." Then for the next four years I heard The Boys Are Back In Town at least twice a week on my way home if I was listenening to the radio.
  23. "Although genetic variation in a population is generally good, allowing the population to adapt to changing conditions such as environment, food availability and the presence of predators and prey, most genetic mutations are NOT beneficial"
  24. I had initially ruled that out but maybe it would work. I'll make the mock up tonight. I'll post some picks of Project 2 - Charvel strat soon as well. I've just about got it sanded down to wood. Should be able to finish when I get a free hour.
