Soccer: Zidane revient !! (Zidane is back!!)
scottb replied to ASNL77's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Hopefully Zidane can help them out. It would be a shame if they didn't qualify and get a chance to redeem that dismal 2002 showing. Still can't figure how that side didn't even score a goal with the likes of Zidane, Trezeguet, Viera, Henry, Cisse, Makelele and Dugarry. Impossible is nothing. -
I think the sonic improvements of THINK! are worth the upgrade as well. I didn't even A/B it with my old copy as it is an obvious improvement. Drums snap and horns sparkle.

My current house is just beyond a very good resolution area (on the right of this picture)

Does everyone already know about this? I just found out about it today. Amazing stuff. I can see my old house and even make out the kids swingset and slide in the back yard! "Without going out of my door, I can know all things on earth." Forget transcendental meditation George, I've got google earth! This is going to save me tons of money on vacations! "Hey kids, gather around the monitor, we're going to the Grand Canyon!" Here's the LINK Here's my old house.

Jim, Joe and Randy, I don't even have my copy yet but hearing several cuts on www.radioio I want to congratulate you all on a fantastic job on this disc! I can only imagine how excited you guys must be to have this out. I was excited to hear it for myself and now that I've heard some I'm getting excited for you. I am very impressed with the development of the band since ...Sisters and I thought that it was pretty great too! Joe especially. I think your playing on Sisters was very good but it was the kind of playing that might get lost on nonguitarist or nonmusicians. From what I've heard so far, Joe's playng is not only the right notes played technically well but there is an energy and a passion that I didn't get as much from ...Sisters. It may have just not been captured on ...Sisters as well but it's a noticable difference. It's the kind of energy and passion that everyone can not only hear but feel. Kinda like how Santana can play a one note solo and it be great. The songwriting has improved as well. On ...Sisters, several of the tunes reminded me of other songs and were obviously derived from influences. These tunes seem more original and more your own "voice" rather than imitation of others. Even if this recording doesn't bring you fame and wealth (if there is any justice in the industry it will - BIG if, I know) you guys should be very proud to have made such a great record. I wish you all the success this record deserves. Keep it GREAZY!

More great playing! Thanks for sharing. You've got quite a few tunes, when are we going to see the album?

How cool does that feel to have your tunes streaming about 1 per hour in the midst of Miles Davis, John Scofield, Terence Blanchard, Frank Morgan? -

Of course! By the way, I did order a signed copy. Two actually! I was going to suggest you could send one copy now and just one signed one later but I don't want to run up the shipping so I guess I can wait like everyone else. -

Wealthy Street just streamed on their site! (I finally got my sneak peek!) Seriously I thought it was Scofield at first! A more edgy guitar tone than anything on ...Sisters. Very nice Joe. You other two guys were OK as well. Now I really can't wait to get my copy! Jim, please put mine in the mail TOMORROW! I know you've got 'em! It's not like I'm asking for special treatment or anything... well actually I am. I didn't want to bring it up but... I was the very first person to order Boogaloo Sisters on that historic March 1st just after midnight as soon as it became available, remember? Doesn't that count for something? -

It is there now, you can't miss it. "this is the place" by organissimo ... coming out this week is the second release by organissimo, "this is the place" ... a self-produced cd from the lansing michigan based trio. organissimo is a popular bar band that has expanded to larger clubs and festivals in the midwest... we bring this dynamic trio to the world ....this week on radioioJAZZ... ... usually skeptical when i hear the words 'organ trio', i will give a listen because i find it interesting to check how organists build a whole cd within the trio format. please don't misunderstand me. i love jazz played on the hammond and perform with my own xk2. but to build an entire album that will maintain the interest of a broad listener population can be problematic. this challenge creates no problem for organissimo... ... organissimo consists mainly of three players... organ, drums, and guitar... the organist is 28 year old jim alfredson. encouraged by his father who himself was a professional musician, jim began writing songs on a yamaha organ at the age of eight. ... joe gloss is the guitarist. also from lansing, the 35 year old began early with bluegrass and switched to jazz in 1990'a... ... the drummer for organissimo, randy marsh, is known as the '1st call drummer of choice' on the michigan jazz scene. alfredson and gloss sought out the 55 year old drummer to perform with them ... marsh brings fire and intensity to the foundation of the trio... as well as a great sense of humor and harmonica... ... the result is funk, blues, and jazz... organissimo's "this is the place" is serious fun. each track highlights the player's individual talents. be careful as you listen though... you can get wrapped so heavily within the groove that the individual solos seamlessly enter the mix before you realize it. each player crafts and expresses melodically within the context. groove is common ground... but when played by masterful musicians who integrate their own voice, the results are special. the musicianship of the players and the unique sound of this trio 'nudged' me to pick this album for this week's feature ... ... an organ trio with organ, drums, and guitar playing 'funk' will leave skeptics yelling "oh yeah? what about the bass?". when 'funk' works, the bass and drums have to talk with each other with punch. alfredson and marsh handle this problem beautifully. listen to the track "play nice"... the hook and beat will grab your ears then gloss's guitar will provide the upper melody... then alfredson kicks in his own lead. your attention span will never be challenged... this formula works for the 'trademark' sound of organissimo... ... "smoking section" is a heart pumpin tune that also showcases the solo ability of alfredson and gloss... don't miss randy marsh's harmonica on "brother ray" ... ... check out organissimo's web site at www.organissimo.org. learn more about this trio and purchase your own copy of "this is the place" ... ... organissimo and "this is the place" ... this week on radioioJAZZ... let me know what you think about these tracks... an e-mail is simply a click away!... ... we are here for you! ...your ticket for the the best in jazz! -

Comparing the size to the dollar bills, that would be quite a matchbook! Matches to light big Cheech and Chong size... uh,... cigarettes. I believe that is a napkin. Cool nonetheless. And it would be a cool matchbook also. -

How about Sonny Criss - Birth of the New Cool? This one sounds very Mingus-like (or Mingussy if you will) to me.

I'm a fan of CH. I saw him live a while back and his playing is much more impressive in real life. Listening to his discs I tend to forget he is playing both organ and bass on a GUITAR! To see how comfortable he is playing that beast is amazing. REcently my Favorite Hunter has been his disc with Previte prior to the Groundtruther projects.

I am going to make a recommendation for anyone wanting to ROCK! This DVD from Andy Aledort and GUITAR Magazine is a bargain! I picked up a copy just to check it out because I have been playing more rock lately. $10. This is an unbelievable video. It's 2 hours long but contains NUMEROUS lessons worth of material. Honestly, there is more here than 6 months of lessons from a very good instructor that I studied with when I first started out ($300 and that was 15 years ago) Check out the TABLE OF CONTENTS I'm an intermediate player so a lot this stuff I know already but I think he does a good job at explaining things in a concise manner and demonstrating it with tab and in the video. It's kinda like going to your friend who can really rock's house and him showing you how play.

SWEET! How about a little sample clip to whet our appetite? A musical hors d'oeurve, if you will. (I'm going to keep begging until I hear a SAMPLE!)
