  1. OK, now I get it. You can download as much music as you want to play on their software and sure you can burn as much of it onto CDs that you want... for additional fee that they have failed to mention up until you hit the download now button. I will load my harddrive with discs I have wanted to sample and haven't bought yet and then I'm done with them.
  2. Really? It seemed like they were saying I could dowload it and burn it to CD as much as I wanted.
  3. If you don't want to reveal your love for Cinderella in the open, just drop me a PM
  4. OK, I'm now making my 80's hair band compilation. Stuff I would never buy but if its free, what the heck. So far: Poison: Unskinny Bop, Nothin' But A Good Time, Talk Dirty To Me Motley Crue: Girls, Girls, Girls, Dr Feelgood Ozzy: Crazy Train Guns and Roses: Welcome to the Jungle Ratt: Round and Round, Lay It Down Def Leppard: Pour Some Sugar... Extreme: Get The Funk Out Whitesnake: Still Of THe Night Wanted AC / DC : Thunderstruck but I can't find it available as a download. I've got some more room on the disc, what should I add? (Van Halen is taken care of)
  5. I have signed up for a 2 week free trial with Rhapsody. Unlimited downloads for 2 weeks. (I better go get some more CDRs!) Anyone use this service? I'm probably not going to keep it after the trial but they do have a lesser service which is FREE and gives you 25 free downloads a month. I might do that just to get an album or two each month that I normally wouldn't pick up. Especially new release, non jazz stuff.
  6. The "spot" is really a slight indention over the hole that I patched when replacing the Tunomatic bridge with the LP junior style bridge. I plugged the hole with a dowell rod (see pictures), patched with bondo, sanded, primed, painted, clear coated. The entire hole is not visible, only about a 1/3 circle. It doesn't show up on photo. It looks like a fingernail impression. The same defect has reappeared each time I've painted. As I mentioned I am baffled because I did exactly the same on the other side without a problem. I have suspected that maybe the dowell rod was not sealed or maybe some wood glue got exposed but I used just a drop to secure the dowell. It's still hard for me to believe that below that many layers. the defect would appear after a week of drying / setting. I used Duplicolor auto paint in a spray can as well as duplicolor primer and clear coat. They are lacquer based products. The paint is an acrylic lacquer. By the way I have a similar defect where the bridge holes where patched as well but I haven't really tried to fix them because they will be under the new bridge.
  7. He meant somehow they kicked it up a notch from Antibalas, which in case you haven't heard them, absolutely kick the grooves with that jungle boogie Afro beat. There aint much groove left on the meter after Antibalas, Soulive must've taken it to 11!
  8. SON OF A...!! I just looked at the gold Cort. THE SPOT is BACK! This thing is like Satan. I can't figure it out. The other side, which I did at exactly the same time, exactly the same way has never had a problem. In previous attempts I had hints that THE SPOT might give me trouble, but this time from coat one of primer I thought that I was good to go. It's been a whole week since the last coat of clear coat and everything has been fine until now. Unbelievable! I'm now just resigned that there will be a blemish on the front of my guitar. I can live with it but I was thinking it should be perfect in case I wasnted to sell it later. Oh well.
  9. OK I know it's been a while since an update. And I'm not sure if anyone cares but... The Gold Cort is FINALLY up to my exacting standards. In the end I redid the entire guitar 3 times and the front an additional time but I have finally conquered that patch that kept showing through no matter how many layers were on top. Kinda like the pea and the princess. It is in the closet for the two months. The Charvel body has been sitting around waiting for a turn since I stripped off that color shifting paint. I finally read the clear coat label and it says it is specially formulated to enhance the color changing effect. So maybe it would have worked after all but that's history Fletch. My wife took the kids to grandmas for the fourth and this is what I've come up with.
  10. I got a Maxtor drvie, something like 40 gb for something like $25 dollars on sale at Compusa. I used it to revive an old computer that had died the year before and let my kids play games on it so they would stop crashing mine! (Ever notice how a toddler can hit a keyboard and do things with one keystroke that you didn't even know were possible? They just touch it and a message comes up, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO LAUNCH NUCLEAR MISSILES AGAINST CUBA?)
  11. I must be having technical trouble. When I click on Perchance, I don't go to a link with samples.
  12. just kidding! Couldn't have asked for a better page break. Chuck, how red did your ears get before you advanced the page?
  13. Chuck, Just curious, how's it selling? I know the membership here is excited (and hopefully buying from you) just wondered how others are taking to it. My dozen or so friends that I made CDRs for are loving it as much as me!
  14. I got Borboletta last night. It begs a new thread on guitar gods with the worst lyrics. Jeff Beck is still champ thanks to NIGHTHAWK from FLASH but Santana has a TON of honorable mentions including a few on this disc. Hey Carlos, shut up and play!
  15. Where can I get my hands on some of this CHILL music?
  16. Yes they do. Which is why the gangsta rap idea has fizzled a bit. What's the point without all those Ns and MFs, and Bs and Hs?
  17. I had Borboletta in the check out box last night and then for some reason balked. In the light of day this seems to be a pretty good choice.
  18. Some considerations: Santana's BORBOLETTA. a compilation of newer rock acts. Or maybe even an 80s rock compilation. Poison, Motley Crue, Ratt, Def Leppard, Ozzy some basic gangsta rap :bwallace2: Allman Brothers latest live release - it wasn't available Looked for Sharon Jones and The Mighty Imperials without success Browsed Fela Kuti I don't know I just wanted a change. I've got the new RVGs coming soon so I was thinking something non jazz. I guess right now I'm a bit on a rock guitar kick so something guitar heavy would do. I wish Jimmy Page had a new project!
  19. I switched to DIET COKE after college when I was drinking quite a bit of regular Coke and Dr Pepper and started putting on the weight. The switch to Diet Coke increased my intake considerably. My teeth are not as white as they could be. Last year I had a root canal related to a prior filling but overall haven't had any new cavities since college (>10 years) Obviously, it doesn't rot your guts out or mine would be rotten. I have consumed lab rat levels of the stuff for 10+ years and are doing fine. Studies showing a link to esophageal cancer are related to it's increase in acid relux from the carbonation. I don't have reflux problems.
  20. Have you ever noticed that if someone drinks a WHOLE lot of soda... I mean, A WHOLE LOT of soda, it is usually DIET COKE? I truly believe there is something in there, besides caffeine, that causes addiction. I crave the stuff even when I'm not thirsty. And when I am thirsty, if I drink water I still feel the need for a DIET COKE. One theory of mine is the aftertaste. Shortly after drinking a DIET COKE you get this little aftertaste that makes you think, "Boy, I sure would like some more DIET COKE to wash that out and wet my whistle." Actually, it's not an afterTASTE so much as an after-DRYNESS. Last time I cut way back (down to a six pack a day!) I did it with the help of chewing gum which make a coke taste pretty bad and relieves that dryness.
  21. Typically I'm finishing my 3rd as I roll into the office at 9 AM. I tried to cut back with great success last year but my consumption has crept back up recently. typical day 6:30 - 1 for breakfast 8:00 - 1 for the car ride 9:00 - 1 back in the car 11:00 - 1 just to hold me until lunch (this one is optional, I'd say 50%) 12:00 - 2 with meal (lately one cafeine free and one regular - my effort to cut down) 2:00 - 1 in the car (my car is FULL of cans) 4:00 - 1 to help my make it to the end of the day 5:30 - 1 when I hit the door at home 6:00 - 2 with meal 8:00 - 1 just cuz 10:00 - 1 getting tired and have some more to do 12:00 - 1 to calm down for bed ( drinking as we speak) That's actually 14 Diet Cokes! Sadly a pretty typical day give or take 2. Somehow, typing this has brought me to a moment of clarity, THAT'S A BUTTLOAD OF COKE!!! I'll cut back as soon as this music deal is over. Really, I could quit at any time. It's not really a problem with me.
  22. I know a lot of people around here don't like WalMart. But I do loves my Coke! Coke is giving away 2 downloads at Walmart.com for every 24 pack I buy! I usually burn a 24 pack in 2 days if I'm home all day, 3 to 4 days if it's a work day. Bottom line, a lot of free music this summer. I need help. I was thinking, for a change of pace, I would get a rock or metal or rap that everyone should have and I don't. Like Metallica's Black Album or NWA's Straight Outta Compton but every time I think of something, it's not available! I also considered making a greatest hits from Jay Z or Snoop Dog or from some recent rock bands like Franz Fredinand, Queens of the Stone Age, Velvet Revolver. I have literally spent a couple hours for 3 nights in a row browsing music, filling my cart, emptying my car, rinsing and repeating. I'm giving up and handing it over to you guys. What should I download?
  23. Ok, That's it! Yahoo SUCKS! Once I joined Yahoo groups (add 10 spam mails a day) I was informed I was not a member of the gourd music group. If they want it to be that hard to hear their music, forget 'em!
  24. Thanks again to ROPEADOPE for finding some crazy stuff on the web. Check this out if you're down with NWA Straight Outta Compton
  25. So Jim, whose fault is that? A The station for not having it? B The labels for not giving it to them? C The listeners for never requesting it before? My guess is B, I don't think the labels care enough about jazz (ie not enough money in it) to bother promoting it. And the "jazz" they do promote SUCKS. This a corollary to my "Jazz doesn't sell because it's not for sale" ramblings.
