  1. For those of you who waited, your gamble has paid off! These Audioquest disc have been marked all the way down to $.99! That's right, a buck! Still a large selection. I really think this is as low as they can go! I can't see them giving them away so if you've had your eye on a couple, now's the time!
  2. Hardly ever! At least not around this place. I like to not give it away with smilies, it's more fun when people aren't sure if I'm serious or not. I refuse to watch the crap that Hollywood puts out as blockbusters. My wife and I like to rent the better American films and foreign films as well. Usually wait until a film gets some good reviews (taken with a grain of salt,) or wins some awards (other than best action scene or best stunt coordiation) or friends (only certain friends) recommend something strongly.
  3. I don't get it. Why would Americans want to watch movies from other countries? They should just watch our movies. That's just how it is. You do cars and electronics, we do movies!
  4. Wow! I wish I could've seen that one! Could this be the beginning of the end for Chelsea's title run? Is it too late for Arsenal to catch them? Will Wigan continue their string of good results and end with a spot in Europe or even catch Chelsea for the title? This is getting good!!!
  5. I'll take that off your hands. In my haste to reply, I didn't see your email in your post. Just let me know if I'm the one.
  6. Let's hear a showcase for Randy! How about Little Drummer Boy a la Duke Pearson's version from Merry Ol Soul?
  7. You guys better be working on at least a couple more Christmas tunes for this year! With the past years' songs you could make a great little holiday disc with 6-7 tunes. Not a big production, just something from your studio on CDRs, minimal packaging, perhaps a paper sleeve. Obviously you could sell quite a few here and more at gigs (suggested retail price $6-8) which could help raise some revenue for upcoming projects, maintaining the board, gas money for the tour, whatever. Also a good way to keep the Organissimo wave in motion until the live disc hits the streets. It would be a good excuse to visit radio stations, club owners etc as you hand out copies. I expect to see a songlist by Friday and have the finished product by 3 weeks so we can start distribution. We're getting a late start so you're really going to have to pull together as a team! (I still dream of being a producer or manager or whoever gets to organize these projects and bark orders! )
  8. As another aside, are any of those Keystone dates recorded by a guy named Pendergraft (or something similar.) He's lives here in town and once mentioned that he used to be a sound engineer and had recorded Blakey once at the Keystone.
  9. The technique in question is actually been named The Bresnahan Maneuver (despite Kevin's protests - he's just being modest ) This problem was discussed at length on the old board after several of the early RVG batches were sealed with an industrial strength sticker which everyone was having trouble removing. Now the problem is residue. Will our torment ever end?
  10. I agree, as soon as the disc started the sonic brilliance was obvious. It's good compared to other RVGs not just the old releases.
  11. Doesn't look like ANYBODY is following the drummer! I hope she can keep time.
  12. I love getting mail, especially packages! I know a lot you get A LOT of music in the mail daily or weekly but this week is unique for me due its variety. Here's what I should see: 3 CDs from CDUniverse - new RVGs - Lonnie, Jimmy and Hank 2 mini guitars off Ebay which I plan to modify and give to my niece and nephew 1 oil painting won on EBAY aution to benefit Katrina victims 1 game worn Ramon Ramirez soccer jersey won in an auction for Katrina victims 1 order of soccer gear for my daughter and I who have both started new leagues Who knows what else the mailman might bring!
  13. I had the chance to see Gatemouth on a couple occasions. His music was a gumbo of styles reflecting his Louisiana heritage which always left you warm inside with a smile on your face. RIP.
  14. Why isn't Bruce Arena bringing Freddy Adu to some of these meaningless WCQ games? Now that the US has a spot locked up, it would be a good chance to get him some valuable experience. If Quaranta and Chad Marshall can get a look, why not Adu?
  15. a little later...
  16. That is a print of his. We have one of his originals but I don't have any pictures. It's a bit strange in that he only does trees. It's interesting to see how his trees have evolved over the past few years. This one is typical of his early work.
  17. This is by Mike Klung also form south Louisiana
  18. We have a giclee print of this work by Robert Cook who is from South Louisiana.
  19. Is the sound OK? The samples I listened to were kinda murky with a lot of crowd noise.
  20. I thought there was an art thread but when I did a search I came up empty. Who knew it would be called, THE ART THREAD!?
  21. As to which tune it sounds like... well, in short, all of them. (And I think they are all credited to Joplin.)
  22. I lived the bad art museum. I was laughing out loud and had everyone at the office wondering. The critiques are hilarious! for example: A blood curdling scream from the fires below. A lost soul cries out in agony, eyes upward, forever to be taunted by the reclining though erect Adonis just out of reach. This brilliant reworking of one of Art's oldest subjects -- recasting the cloven hoofed, behorned one into a youthful virile stud is a refreshingly original treatment of an age-old theme.
  23. Most of these women thought they could do very well without me and in fact have!
  24. THE MAN??!! How dare you! Although he certainly died a man's death with the pills and the toilet and all those kinds of things, he is the KING! and should be esteemed as such even in casual references. Speaking of the King, Graceland could be entered in its entirity into the bad art museum.
  25. I had forgotten about Thomas K. when I asked this question. Obviously that position is filled. Perhaps she could be the Najee of oil painting.
