  1. Thanks for the warning but I realise these are part of the Atlantic 24 bit reissue series from Japan. The ones I already have are a vast improvement.
  2. I'm in for the Darin. Bound to be an improvement on the previous poorly mastered CD.
  3. I know its in the Mosaic box but I can't believe Sam Rivers "A New Conception" has never had a CD release of its own. This would be my number one request.
  4. I have just ordered from Japan where it was in stock. Mini-LP format too which I like.
  5. I gave away that Jenkins/Burrell CD ten years ago and regretted it ever since. You do realise it goes for $40-50 second hand?
  6. A rather dull album. Can understand why its never been reissued.
  7. It appears to be a combination of "Kirk's Work" and "Jacki Byard Experience".
  8. Stan Getz and Frank Rosolino. How relaxing for everyone.
  9. I can recommend "Meets Dollar Brand". An unlikely combination that works very well.
  10. And don't forget this one which is even better. No organ but some great playing here.
  11. Another vote for Eastern Rebellion with George Coleman
  12. You won't! It's a FANDAMNTASTIC set of music! Too right. Anita may have been a "difficult" person but she epitomises the fact that you don't need a great voice to be a great singer. I especially love the numbers with OP where he apparently got pissed with her and tried to blow her away. She just goes along for the ride.
  13. Working my way through the entire Anita O'Day set. For 9 CD's and almost 200 tracks I haven't come across any real duds yet.
  14. "Organ Grinder", that's the one I was trying to think of! It was on Skye which was the label owned by Cal Tjader and Gary McFarland but I picked it up as a paper sleeve remaster from Japan.
  15. I'm aware of Grady Tate as a drummer, but was pleasantly suprised to find he has a career as a singer as well. This effort from 1968 with Gary McFarland in charge is an excellent listen. Tate doesn't have the greatest voice (he's no Hartman) but allows his natural musicality and style to come through. Cool version of "Work Song" rivals that of Oscar Brown. The only track I don't like is "Don't Fence Me In" which is too country and doesn't fit the rest of the album. Is that really Herbie Hancock on piano?
  16. Great to be back. You might want to update the message on the front page as it still tells people to not use the forums. There could be a few are not as impatient as us.
  17. My personal favourite is Musique Du Bois with Jaki Byard. Another is Alive And Well In Paris with a terrific European group.
