  1. good idea ! but I would even prefer wineyards
  2. just for the records and maybe thats of help to search for the root cause of that: I got the left hand menue of the organissimo homepage, the bands bio and the www.organissimo.org/music.. the resst ended up in DNS errors. Cheers, Tjobbe
  3. HI guys, I now have access from home and bypassed all proxies and now it works... not sur what it really is... Cheers, Tjobbe
  4. please do not laugh but the very first impression was a Disney film soundtrack for Jungle Book from Reithermann (guess it was the Overture).. so "Track 1 and Film" was immeaditly there ....but I have to admit that my main motivation for sharing the Blindfolds is because rarely no one in my personal environment does like to listen to Jazz, so you somewhat dealing with the same musicians all over the place.... its like getting fresh wind in and some exiting new stuff to listen to.... getting the right "vote" is not what I'm after Cheers, Tjobbe DIT: arghhhh my keyboard sucks... stupid Laptop eitheer to many "e's" or none
  5. ok... and here's disc2 #1 I hear my favourite Composer/arranger when he crosses my way. As soon as the brass starts I got it, aa good follower of the Impulse ones..... Great choice Randy ! #2 Although I do rarely listen to vocals in Jazz, I'd liked this one, but bare with me.. no idea so far who that is ! some contemporary I would think... #3 another vocal one.... #4 I'm nearly sure but can't put my fingers for 100% on it... would say a Steeplechase from Walt Dickerson Trio but.... (as he's the only one I know playing vibes in a more free style) #5 sounds GRP'isch or DMP'isch to me (or some better Al DiMeola maybe) #6 sorry not my taste... with the #7+#8 I had some slight probs to concentrat on.... maybe dig deeper into them later #9 would bet on Dizzy Gillespie here #10 same as with 7/8 #11 is that a Strayhorn medley ??? Starts with some "Take the A train" phrases ?
  6. Hi Randy, first feedback (really blindfold and non cheating ) from my side on disk 1 only... the second one later: Disc1: #1 some late 40's recording.. its a kind of High Speed intro #2 no clue, but also an up tempo small band piece (no clue who that might be) although the man playing Piano sounds familiar #3 great blues.. mid 60's.. guess it might be that one here #4 wow...great drums and great interaction with the voices. But I have no clue who that is as nothing similar can be found in collection (yet..) #5 not my taste....(starts like a some trial and error piece.. sorry, but gets better afterwards).. what about Cecil Taylor ??? #6 great song, but need to listen a bit more to it... #7 first though on the Intro was.. Henry Mancini but the bowed bass reminded me somewhat of Paul Chambers #8 not one of my favourites on this compilation #9 I have the feeling I must say what it is but its like a blackout... heard it recently , great tune anyway and fine arrangment #10 reminded me of some Cole Porter (got you under my skin) with the broken intro where I believe some notes where missed out. #11 would guess its some of this here Cheers, Tjobbe
  7. Hi Randy, mine is at my place too since few minutes... Feedback within next days. Cheers, Tjobbe
  8. that proves it: God must be CRAZY! he simply has a lot of humor... and he needs it Cheers, Tjobbe
  9. Hi Muskrat, I see that - the contempory vs. re-release debate- a little bit different as I used to learn to love the "older BN releases" much later in my "music loving career" then listening to contemporary (although often fusion or ECM'ish style music). To me its often buying both contemporary but also older stuff that was never on radar before. (you normaly buy what you know or what you expect to be fitting into your musical schema) So would always look-out for those re-reeleases (although I also have a close look to the Fantasy/Concord's) As a non-US I anyway have no issue with the european jazz scene so that my be one advantage you have over here. cheers, Tjobbe
  10. what I just saw that a lot of german newspapers (like the SPIEGEL) are dealing with this from various angles after the Renner/Stein "issues". The SPIEGEL in is last issue discussed specially the downlaod methods like iPod from its usability pespective but that SZ one covers rather a cultural approach and descibes it a set of ups and downs in the music market over longer periods... for me that a new angle... will watch out for the next article to come Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: thats the SPIEGEL one dealing with the next generation problem the industrie will face: In German only... sorry
  11. great one ubu... Cheers, Tjobbe
  12. let me say it that way Guy, my experience with some hybrids is that they are even as good if not better normal CD's and a good choice And often they are on a K2 re-master level (some techies do believe that an SBM "downgrade" of the DSD track is done to produce the red-book layer). So if you get them on promotion and compare with prieces of the K" remasters Fanatsy did, you're not to bad when it comes to pricing Cheers, Tjobbe
  13. the main reason why I asked is that I have e.g the Art Pepper or the Dolphy already as "normal" german ZYX 20bit remaster and already there the Pepper sounded great, but I know from other recordings that some re-masters (e.g. the Analogue Productions) do get much more out of the original tapes. Unfortunally (as Claude mentioned) the first batch was rather not using the sonically best recordings but maybe some best selling ones. Cheers, Tjobbe
  14. ... , not really from my end as it was my first Jazz Record I got (my farther gave it to me when I was twelve) and I still have it... to me that was one milestone for to Jazz music ... maybe today the Jazz impression series (as thats not the only one that I found worthwhile to listen to) he did with the Quartet has been somewhat out of focus but at that time the wording of "Jazz impression of" has even reused by others (Vince Guaraldi e.g.) and it got a kind of trademark Cheers, Tjobbe
  15. thanks for the clearification... already ordered !
  16. Thanks John for this one and honestly... some of the tracks have been spinning around in my player even in my car... some Lucky Thompson (more or less unknown to me until this) and Max Roach (somehow have not paid attention to him as I should do) is already on my wishlist... on #4 I saw that amazon is naming this a "in Asia"... Here... ist that the one you're refering too ? as this is a must have to me (EDIT: have never heard much of his earlier recordings which I will surely change now... ups my wife asks about budget ) what I was pretty much puzzled about is #8 as I found out that its hidden somewhere in my treasury but somehow has not found its way out of the dark.. shame on me ... cheers, Tjobbe
  17. yes Sal.. they are all hybrids
  18. Hi Eric, guess you are talking about the first batch Fantasy released last year... (as those I mostly do have) Cheers, Tjobbe P.S. but I'm sharing your comments as the Wes is not the one I would have release in HiRes....
  19. Hi All, the 20th, January is getting near and I would like to know who of you fellow americans had the pleasure to put his hands on one of the second batch of Fantasy SACD's ? Any feedback so far ? Cheers, Tjobbe
  20. count me in too.... and how about some Little Feat: Waiting for Columbus , although isn't Day at the dog races a jazzy tune as Lowell George said when he refused to participate in the life performance of it ? Cheers, Tjobbe
  21. I missed it.... standing in the kitchen cooking... cheers, Tjobbe congraz anyway !!!!
  22. Hi John, disks recieved, listen and copying them now... deus62/ubu: expect to get yours after the weekend.... Thx, Tjobbe
  23. what are you doing here... posting threads for the sake of posting Cheers, Tjobbe
  24. EKE, if you look for better prices... Amazon UK listed it for 12GBP and a little bit lower for 11 incl Shipping at play.com Here.... Cheers, Tjobbe BTW: just pressed the buy now button as I was not aware of this one... feedback guaranteed as soon as it arrives
  25. I have the 2CD RVG (but none of the other releases of this session), but honestly -although I like the musik- the absolute quality of this re-master is poor compared to other sessions e.g. the K2 5CD Freelance Box set including Way out west and more.... So depends o n what your goal is... looking for an upgrade.. I personally would drop that... Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: not sure if the base material allows great improvements in sound quality..
