  1. Thanks Saint Vitus for this... so I can asssume that they might cancel my Basie and Henderson pre-order too....As the European release date was anyway set to Feb I was not taking care of that until now.. What I'm really keen on are those Dan's coming out in summer Cheers, Tjobbe
  2. in the office this was one of the greatest laughs today Cheers, Tjobbe BTW: the water in UK was never quite my taste, always had lite taste of mint...
  3. Hi All, can anbody confirm that the Johnny Hartman&John Coltrane Impulse SACD won't be released as expected, or have I missed something ? I pre-ordered it witrh Amazon.de and today I got notified that they won't be selling it due to no release planned Cheers, Tjobbe
  4. you have to pay Tax/VAT on the shipping charges too.. so its "normal" that the higher the charges are the higher the tax and handling fees to get. I normally order everything with gound shipping to avoid this as best as I can (although you then have tracking issues as well as probs to get your stuff in timely manner) I personally have had good experience when ordering some PDA and electronic equipment but that shop offered some "choices" which carrier to use (as well as giving themselve some recommendation which is the cheapest in terms of handling fees) Cheers, Tjobbe
  5. but as said Claude.. in the given example the 91 Euro are for VAT+Customs and the amount (30+/-) the carrier charges... The privat carrier always pays the the VAT/Custom fees upfront and you need to refund him for this as well as pay the handling charges.. If German Post delivers instead they do not charge handling but the VAT/Custom has also been payed by them upfront which they will wantr you to pay for (but sometimes the postman forgets....) Cheers, Tjobbe
  6. Hi deus, I assume that its the 5CD box you've ordered... so lets calculate some numbers.. 80US$ *16% Einfuhrumsatzsteuer (the VAT for imported non VAT goods) + customs assume 9% = 20US$ that your freight forwarder has already paid on your behalf.. the rest to your amount payed to GLS is the fee that they charge for handling this which normally 10% of the amount they deduct to german customs.. so all in all I would not worry here .. I would assume that even GL Shas added some sheet where they calculate more in depth what position your invoice has. The tag on your box saying "no further fees" means in taht case that GLS has already paid them on your behave... Cheers, Tjobbe
  7. oh oh... so much Zorn... I never had bought any of his records as the snippets I heard so far have been all not my taste but what you put together here does sound great..maybe I need to revise my decision on #2: I I thought I've heard most of Evans records but I was not aware he did any cinema score... on #3 how is the rest of that record ? anyway... lot of fun, lot of new sounds. Thanks a lot Cheers, Tjobbe
  8. sure.. what do you think I am.. an ignorant
  9. I do not own any... -_- ... as up to know, I tried to avoid collecting disc as I normally verify my colleection after a while and decide then to get stuff sold again as I lost either interest or I do not like some records any more (which in the past years was rarely the case....but I do not have an attidute of must have "all recordings an artist ever did..." no.. maybe Bill Evans comes close there or Guaraldi) Cheers, Tjobbe
  10. maybe... I just pressed "order" for those three I haven't got before Cheers, Tjobbe
  11. for those not having bought the last Koller MPS re-releases.... 2001 has now six of them in store... (you need to search for MPS as no dedicated link exists from the homepage) Cheers, Tjobbe
  12. Hi Dmitry, as Bev said... they played with a lot of musicians ad are a kind of institutioin here in Köln (@SCUD Missile: here's you Umlaut for Cut&Paste... you can store it somewhere).. they also play with local musicians and even sometimes do sessions in the Cologne Carneval season or for TV Shows The BigBad is led sinds few month by Mike Abene and they did a well received intro concert ... I heard them few times when dutch Jerry van Rooyen led the band... they where competing against Herbolzheimers RC&B at that time for th title "Best BigBand" Cheers, Tjobbe
  13. 'ne schöne Jrooss us Kölle... cheers, Tjobbe
  14. Looks our man tried to put some packages of 3-4 themes together #1 no clue, but I believe that’s coming from some non-Jazz combo #2 starts like a regular swing theme, but with a fresh 90’s feeling, turning to some Latin in the middle with- attention- flute to get to a marching band at the end… all in all a little bit like a best of swing… oh you want my guesses: .. no clue , but I like it #3 sounds familiar…..little bit like cannonball adderley orchestra (is that Phil Woods playing the Alto ?) #4 a post Monk piano ? #5 no clue, but cool…(some West coast sound) #6 sounds so much like Henry Mancini that I would bet money on this #7 still searching #8 Film music…. But which one ??? #9 ups.. there was a track nine … #10 the guy singing there doesn’t sound as if he’s doing that latin groove regularly …but some Las Vegas show singer. The music sounds good, but that guy is driving me mad #11 Mongo Santamaria…. #12 no clue for now… #13 an electronic Accordion with Latin…interesting combination… shouldn’t be hard to find #14 my first thought was…. Gary Burton and Pat Metheny were doing some Piazolla for GRP label… smooth Jazz with some Tango. #15 ECM ….. same first though like in #14 #16 an ‘80s fits well in #13/#14/#15 as package of four #17…no clue so far #18 …to dark for me #19… same as above #20… sounds that there not much matches, but an enjoyable compilation
  15. sounds familiar I have a separate room upstairs which does allow hearing Jazz at anytime... only if I turn the volume knob beyond normal, she comes complaining... Cheers, Tjobbe
  16. yes, and even some Canadiens defintely are
  17. Not sure Adrien how to find out individually, but the www.jpc.de (also having an english site) do always note when a record is copy protected (which is a great service as most other online shops don't do this) So I normally check first what they have put on their webside as remark before buying anything .... Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: link to JPC webpage (in English)
  18. Hey man... great compilation, but it will bring me one step closer to Chapter11 (you ruin me ) just one first impression: this is full of swing and I found none on the disc that I do dislike so as deus said: one for me ! At the moment I'm sorting my impressions as I have the feeling that 3-4 tracks are burried somewhere in my collection and I only need to name them. I have the impression that there is some Q.Jones, N.Hefti, Mancini type movie scores in the first half of the disc, as well as some Satamaria Latin on but I need to check individual tracks.. and I still cannot figure out what track #14 is as I want to - no, better: I must- order it somewhere !!!! more to come later this weekend Cheers, Tjobbe
  19. I have it, I have it and track #14 is definetely not....
  20. I guess I know what you're after Deus... it might be that only the elctric piano sounds a little bit distorted as brownie mentioned... I tried to keep the ear directly in front of the midrange/tweeters at left/right speakers and tke left sounds ok while the right electric one sounds really a bit strange.... but anyway.. not my favourite B.Evans.... Cheers, Tjobbe
  21. 2001 sent me regular jewel cases m too... cheers, Tjobbe
