  1. Views of 193 Eldridge Street, at Rivington. Former location of Studio We and the Aboriginal Music Society - New York. Also Burton Greene's loft space until 1969. I'll try to get some less impromptu shots of the building soon. Oh, the sounds that went on in that space at one time...

  2. Almost typed "callender" in my chat. Clearly I have been thinking about Red Callender and 1940s Los Angeles jazz today. For every misspelling there is a proper usage.

  3. Yeah, I just have the Cortical... bought it when it came out, I think.
  4. Dang. RIP. Dug his playing on the Larry Young material; will have to check into the Dave Burns album.
  5. Not part of your crowd is he? Nice guy, excellent musician. I am more a fan now than I used to be, FWIW. I felt he needed to grow into his music, and he has.
  6. That Kosugi is cool; I only have the reissue, but it's a neat record.
  7. earlier: Lee Konitz - Stereokonitz - (RCA Original Cast, IT) now, Steve Lacy - Sortie - (GTA, IT)
  8. Sad to hear this. Wish I'd known to get in touch with him before I left Austin.
  9. You found a copy ! Graham C. wasn't even aware that the stereo version existed before the BGO reissue was done. I did - a few years ago, actually, and in good nick.
  10. 'Tis the season for yearly iPhone death.

  11. Graham Collier - Deep Dark Blue Centre - (Deram, stereo)
  12. Perry Robinson - Funk Dumpling - (Savoy orig)
  13. Yosuke Yamashita Trio - Mina's Second Theme - (Victor JP)
  14. ^ Interesting date. Glad it's out there. Clarke Boland Big Band - Off Limits - (Polydor GER) I return to this CBBB session a fair amount, probably because it's a bit more left-field than most of the catalog.
  15. Yeah, Tyler is great - love his tone too. I think your thoughts are spot on. My idea of the "outlaw" thing has to do with the musicians being "outlaws" and that lower Manhattan in the '60s and '70s had something of a "Wild West" aspect to it. But I wasn't there so I can only guess.
  16. How is it? I felt I had to thin my Vmark collection down to the V5, DKV, School Days and Free Fall stuff, all of which I enjoy quite a bit.
  17. Benny Bailey - How Deep Can You Go? - (EMI Harvest) I've been listening to this one a lot lately. Great Swedish session from '76.
  18. Black Artists' Group - In Paris, Aries 1973 - (BAG)
  19. A wonder none of those Brown-Hampel group LPs have been reissued... all three are wonderful.
  20. Figured I'd try to sell these here: Gunter Hampel - The 8th of July 1969 - (Birth/Natural Jazz, GER) VG+/VG+ strong vintage copy of this one, vinyl is clean but the pressing itself is a bit crackly in the quiet parts. Not bad. Cover is nice with a soft crease to the top left corner and light shelf wear. HOLD Clarke-Boland Big Band - Now Hear Our Meanin' - (Columbia, US) VG++/VG+ nice session, deep-groove two-eye stereo pressing (not a reissue - this did come out on UK/German CBS as well with the same title). Vinyl plays great, light sleeve marks only. Cover has a filing strip on the top seam, a small sticker remnant on the back and personnel underlining discreetly penned. $12 Eddie Gale Band - This is Hot! - (Sagittarius A-Star, IT) M-/M- solid millennial session with Prince Lasha and John Gruntfest on reeds, played once if at all. $8 Shipping is $4 Media, $9 Priority - international is much higher but doable. Buy all three and get 'em shipped for $35 (CONUS only).
  21. Haven't dug that one out in years - nice record!
  22. Yeah, that seems about right. My only version of this has been the UK Fontana LP of "Ghosts," which sounds wonderful.
