  1. Transcribing notes from one of the Joe Morris concerts - the trio with William Parker and Gerald Cleaver - I wrote "but what does shredding even MEAN in this music?" Take that as you will.

  2. Sorry to hear of these travails. My albums and my friends rarely mix, thankfully.
  3. Oh, it's gone for more than that! It's an excellent album - really - but I can think of many things I'd rather do with that kind of cash. I don't know anything about Ruff. John Jamyll Jones, who organized the Worlds' Experience Orchestra (and the later band called simply Worlds') resides (or did, last I heard) near El Reno, Oklahoma and runs/ran a recording studio there. I should call him up sometime - I do have his number. He would probably be able to provide pertinent information.
  4. Great!
  5. It is. He still has copies available on vinyl and is making digital downloads available (his words were that the CD market just isn't viable).
  6. New York Art Quartet - call it art (LP 5) - (Triple Point Records) so far, no complaints.
  7. Me: I don't understand why anyone would want to go to Coachella. Why does it exist? Claire Odom: You don't understand because you're a curmudgeon. Me: Ah yes, thanks.

  8. I thought Clark had a heart condition or something but that's probably incorrect.
  9. From the cover of A Jackson in your House: Charles Clark (March 11, 1945-April 15, 1969)

  11. Nice - don't see one of those every day.
  12. Hmm. I have this on a Japanese Metronome LP from the '70s. Sound is excellent. I'm not sure the alternates would make me "need" this but regardless, it's a wonderful album that deserves consistent mention. The Metronome EPs (the original issues of this material) are pretty fancy looking, though I've never owned one.
  13. Has anything on the Circle label ever made it to CD? I've got a number of the LPs and they're all quite interesting.
  14. I think it shreds. I'm a Softs head to be sure. It's fairly "out".
  15. Ha! There are a lot that would fit this criteria for me. A LOT.
  16. My gmail crashed and I lost about two weeks of communication. If you emailed me recently about anything important, please follow up. Thanks.

  17. So, if you missed seeing Tristan Honsinger last Monday, there is another chance to see him on Saturday at 6 PM. Word on the street is that DMG will be hosting a trio performance with Tristan, Joachim Badenhorst and Thomas Heberer. It will rule.

  18. This might be of interest, but I interviewed Smalls' regular drummer Clifford Barbaro for the March NYC Jazz Record. Interesting dude.
  19. feedtime - s/t - (Sub Pop, from the boxed set reissue)
  20. Dinosaur Jr. - Green Mind - (Blanco Y Negro GER)
  21. Mudhoney - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge - (Sub Pop, purple vinyl)
  22. Yes. It is a DVD of the concert (w/o extraneous stuff, so I considered it comparable to a CD release w/ visuals). Sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm glad you were able to help out and that he can live on through memories and music in your household.
