  1. Recent concert action!

  2. Stockhausen - Goldstaub (Aus den Sieben Tagen #7) - (DGG GER, from the box)
  3. Thought for sure I'd kept that one but alas, sorry! (probably woulda just given it to ya!)
  4. Amon Düül - Disaster - (BASF)
  5. And back to visual art, I'll add Herbert Joos (brass multi-instrumentalist, bassist) to the mix.
  6. Modern Jazz Quintet Karlsruhe - Trees - (Excenter)
  7. New Life Trio - Vision of the Third Eye - (Mustevic)
  8. If we're talking writers, I'd also add Don Heckman (alto saxophone) and Mike Zwerin (brass multi-instrumentalist).
  9. Boulou Ferre. Well, maybe not totally, but his early recordings were much more in the avant-garde spectrum.
  10. Yeah, Hawk was who I was about to say. Bill Dixon too. Not jazz, but: John Fahey.
  11. Han Bennink - yeah, forgot to mention him earlier. Interesting collages. Though I don't think of Misha Mengelberg as a visual artist, he (along with Brötzmann) did participate in some fluxus events and happenings in Holland during the '60s. Fluxus was more trans-media before the composers and improvisers got kind of pushed out by the latter half of the '60s.
  12. Bill Dixon Cel Overberghe Richard (Dickie) Landry Masahiko Togashi Robert Wyatt
  13. Thanks for the heads-up. One of the best gigs I have ever been to, honestly...LP will be special! No way I could resist this one. I have no reservations re Oto LPs, great pressings, wonderful cover art which I love !!! . I have some concerns that newly recorded LPs we see issued these days are little more than CDs on LP with a nice cover. Oto price their LPs at a price that says , try me. So I will be supporting them too. I agree re: Oto and the "CDs on LPs" (or MP3s on LPs) problem. Usually crappy pressings, too (Trost!).
  14. ee-voh also, freelancer, why the intense pile-on? I mean, you're free to voice your opinion and sure, I don't think Ivo would classify his paintings on the level of Pollock or Newman, but beyond that, he's an interesting guy and an insightful person. I did catch your jibe on Peter Evans and the "interview idea" which honestly just came across as unfriendly rather than an honest suggestion.
  15. I think I paid $40 for an M- Creator Spaces years ago... it remains a favorite. The Cosmic about broke the bank but I was glad to find a crisp copy in the last year. It's very good.
  16. I'll ask him next time I see him .
  17. Masahiko Togashi Quartet - Speed & Space - (Union JP, second press) God this record is so good - I'd forgotten how killer it is!
  18. It's an amazing record and I got it for far less than what it's at currently (probably in better shape, too).
  19. Manfred Schoof & Yamashita Trio - Distant Thunder - (Enja, GER)
  20. Yeah, the Heliopolis looks really cool but it's pretty boring. I'd buy a CD reissue just to have it around but it's not worth keeping a lackluster $500 album! Indeed, IIRC even with a green label, the original of that Togashi is with a gatefold.
  21. I think there's a certain song missing from this Touch of Grey (hair color for men) ad.

  22. Perhaps I should have broken this up into several posts, but here's the whole shebang... Ivo
