  1. The second list was a little more knowledgeable than the first, it seems. I like the self-titled Hatfields LP better than Rotter's Club, but YMMV. Not much Krautrock represented, either. No Yeti? For that matter, whither Catherine Ribeiro and Alpes?
  2. Groundhogs - Scratching the Surface - (World Pacific, stereo)
  3. Adam Lane is about 36, I think. Darius Jones, Forbes Graham, and Eri Yamamoto are from what I can tell, in their thirties as well.
  4. I couldn't get my iTunes to load track info. Hopefully my memory holds down the road.
  5. Noah Howard - Live at the Village Vanguard - Freedom/Intercord 28.488-5U Noah Howard (as, tamb, bells) Frank Lowe (ts, bells) Bob Bruno (p) Earl Freeman (el-b) Rashied Ali (d) Juma Sutan (cga, tim) Back A'Town Blues (12:42) Conversation (NH solo) (8:33) Dedication (to Albert Ayler) (14:34) NYC, 22/8/72 Great LP!
  6. Fucking hell. RIP, Hugh, and thank you for everything.
  7. You're talking about Discogs on the web, right? For me it doesn't work because a lot of jazz listings aren't in there. I just use Excel, though it of course I keep that pretty minimal. Access might be a better endeavor if you want to go "deep."
  8. Ben Young isn't the fastest cat on the planet, but you'll get it. Just be patient. I have one on order as well.
  9. Might have been one of these...
  10. Seems reasonable. Who knows, maybe someday you or I can afford a copy!
  11. Miles - Agharta - (Columbia, US pressing)
  12. One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble... Well, he may have been experimenting with this method for years and it didn't work out in his favor this time. According to "sexperts," one should ALWAYS have a safety person nearby when using this method in case something goes wrong.
  13. Hans Dulfer Kwartet - Jazz in Paradiso - (Heavy Soul) 1968-69, w/ Bennink, Van Manen, Altena.
  14. Thanks, would love to hear that Hal Stein.
  15. Yeah, really upsetting news. RIP and thank you, Mr. Carradine. (I accidentally posted a new topic on this as well, sorry porcy.)
  16. Hmm, seem to have missed out on that one...
  17. After my girlfriend got through her Human League jag, it was: Woods/Quill/Shihab/Stein - Four Altos - (Prestige, OJC pressing) picked up for $5 in the shrink after work.
  18. "The Complete Palm Recordings of Jef Gilson"
  19. I would wager that, like the first edition of the New Acoustic Swing Duo and the Jihad titles, this will become an eBay hands-changer.
  20. Portal is usually interesting & a hell of a cool guy, so this could be worth picking up. Then again, those "Minneapolis" CDs made my head hurt.
  21. Yeah, I've been having second thoughts... Chuck, how do the new Bowie/Mitchell/Art Ensemble reissues compare? Much of a difference, or would you say the box is fine enough? (I'm sure it is, actually! But still...) I'd be happy to have it in all forms, myself. But then I really like the early AEC period a lot. Ayers' point about the notes is good, too (though I never really had a problem w/ the original note to my recollection).
  22. I spoke with a label who had wanted to do something with Milford about reissuing those records - don't think it's gonna happen in the foreseeable future. From what I understand, he's not particularly interested in seeing any of the IPS or SRP material reissued.
  23. The hand-painted Pullen-Graves? The first time I saw it on eBay (2002?) it was about $1,200 and I haven't seen it end cheaper than that since. $400 for the second, gold-cover edition, sure... edit: quick check of Popsike and $1,500 is the lowest with a second edition just shy of a grand... I have Nommo and can live with that.
