  1. Yeah, I'm starting to feel a need for growing room too. Ugh.
  2. Hey, I don't even own it.
  3. Ah, thanks. This duo is good: Ballrogg
  4. I have very little Basso in my collection but what I do have is really nice. RIP.
  5. Phineas Newborn, Jr. - Harlem Blues - (Contemporary, yellow label) In absence of Catch and in presence of Phineas.
  6. Yeah, that is a very scarce one. I believe they also share a duo on a Chant du Monde LP. Also: Kent Carter and Claude Bernard, on Kent Carter Solo with Claude Bernard (Sun).
  7. Mambo Nassau, on Z records, is really excellent. I've heard a smattering of other material that was quite good as well, but I can certainly vouch for this one. Rubbery insanity with a club-friendly polyphony.
  8. Lee Morgan - Here's Lee Morgan - (Vee Jay stereo)
  9. Jaki Byard - Solo Piano - (Prestige, blue label)
  10. Coltrane & Johnny Hartman - (Impulse red/black stereo, in great nick)
  11. Yeah, he's great! I've got quite a few of his releases and some live performances as well. And its available! Gotta get it. Required listening if you're into the "free" stuff.
  12. Joe McPhee/Dominic Duval (one on CIMP, one on Drimala) Jimmy Halperin/Dominic Duval - Monk Dreams - (No Business) Steve Adams/Ken Filiano (Nine Winds, Clean Feed)
  13. Freddie Hubbard - Blue Spirits - (BN, 70s pressing)
  14. Emtidi - Saat - (Think Progressive reissue)
  15. Never had it but would enjoy hearing that.
  16. PM sent on the Bailey. The Morgue set is a little out of my price range on vinyl.
  17. Damn - still looking for one of them. The CD will have to do. I see both pressings often on the 'net; will let you know the next time one passes by.
  18. Alan Shorter - Parabolic - (Verve/Polydor UK)
  19. The Pozar is a nice one. Also the Ed Curran and Marc Levin (all those New Music Savoys that Dixon helmed are rad). I like Watts's tone on the tenor, even if he's not really assembling things that cohesively. One of those things that I find hard to put a finger on why I enjoy it so much, but maybe it has to do with the interesting ratio between the date's obvious faults and its sheer beauty. The Savoy comp can be had for about $5, but (IMO) you're better off sourcing the full sessions and biting the cash/patience bullet.
  20. He's really nice on both of Marion's ESPs. I guess he's also on Jacques Coursil's ESP, with Marion and Reggie Johnson. Hope that finds its way to circulation someday.
  21. Muhammad lives in Philly and is playing some. The loss of Rashied is sad, large and (for me) unexpected. RIP.
  22. European Echoes is a nice one.
  23. It's a great record and the tracks on that comp don't do it justice, save the Patty Waters "Lonely Woman," which is just heartbreaking. Glad to say I bought a copy about two years ago.
  24. Of the Riversides that is the one I listen to the least. Not trying to be all OG or anything, but...
  25. Been swamped, Chuck, but don't worry: reviews will be live by August's end.
