  1. I saw it several years ago - interesting, but ultimately quite sad. Amazon has it in stock, but I suspect it's probably not an all-region DVD.
  2. Jesus... my MLIS in Archives will be done in December!
  3. Just got this info; might be interesting: My group, the New Six Jazz Project will be doing a birthday tribute concert for Kenny Dorham on August 30. As you may know, Dorham grew up in the Austin area and became one of the most famous jazz trumpet players of the Blue Note label. The event will take place at the Elephant Room and will feature Dorham's music. The New Six Jazz Project features: Thomas Heflin-trumpet Michael Arthurs-tenor sax Mitch Butler-trombone Chris Budhan-bass Marc Devine-piano Dave Colvin-drums For more information on me, you can go to the following sites: http://www.thomasheflin.com http://www.myspace.com/thomasheflin http://www.bluecanoerecords.com/label/artist.do?id=10 http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:dzfexzl5ldae http://eclecticmix.com/Show.asp?S=108 http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=14844
  4. Thanks for posting.
  5. It was either in '63 or '66. I'll have to check my notes. Bob Cranshaw and Roy McCurdy were in the band also.
  6. Ray Russell - June 11, 1971 (Live at the ICA) - (RCA-Victor UK orig) w/ Tony Roberts, Harry Beckett, Alan Rushton and Daryl Runswick. Smokin'!
  7. Is that Half Note stuff with Prince Lasha? I really would like to hear all of this material. Missed out when the group with DC was posted on his website.
  8. I only have New Dance, which is fantastic. I would like to get more, but always forget to look on scum-bay.
  9. Shit, I'd go if he were playing a date anywhere near me!
  10. Awesome! Happy Birthday from the East Side/Cherrywood neighborhood!
  11. I've always wondered why the most prominent musician on the America jacket is Don Cherry! Muddying further: I could burn the missing set for whomever, free of charge!
  12. Don Cherry - Symphony for Improvisers - (BN Liberty stereo blue/white)
  13. Like WD45, I have only one LP. What are we supposed to do? Sell the LP and buy the CD.
  14. Trane - Crescent - (Impulse Mono orig) One of the best sounding of the bunch, fidelity-wise. And not a shabby performance, either...
  15. Another big up for Oar. I have it on Sundazed CD; the bonus material isn't always all-that but as a whole, it's astonishing.
  16. I remember driving over that bridge often when I lived in Minneapolis. I can't imagine how traumatic it would be to be in this situation - my heart goes out to the victims. I called my family and my sister and her fiance are safe; still have to find out about a few friends though.
  17. Now: Brokeback - Another Routine Day Breaks (Hi-Ball) Great little EP by Doug McCombs of Eleventh Dream Day, Tortoise and a bunch of other things I rarely listen to. But this is really nice.
  18. Indeed. I haven't heard the other one he did for the label - a little scarcer, I think.
  19. If you don't have it at all, buy the CD. If you have the LPs, don't buy the CD. It's that simple!
  20. Wow, sad to hear this. The Blakey 4tet is indeed a particularly fine one! RIP.
