  5. Hopefully a 'legit' issue of the Cosmic Eye will be released, Steph, and your father's estate will get the rightful royalties. I for one would love to hear it. Any idea roughly how many vinyls of the 'Integration' and 'Hum Dono' actually sold on Columbia Lansdowne? Neither LP can have been around for too long when they came out.
  6. Modern Jazz Quartet 'Fontessa' (London label UK original pressing) Tony Crombie 'Atmosphere' (Renaissance label reissue). With Tubby Hayes on baritone.

  12. That's good to hear. It was at the Cafe des Copains where I saw him in solo recital (now the Montreal Bistro, I think). Great show. Around the same time I also saw Sir Charles Thompson (another one for the Bird list, I think). Stony Plain - that's a great little label out of Edmonton, Alberta
  13. I remember being totally amazed that he was still musically active when I saw him in Toronto but that was 15 years ago..
  14. Not Oliver's greatest moment, I have to admit.

  16. A bit of John Patton with the the Friday night beer.. 'Accent on the Blues' (BN Rare Groove vinyl) 'Boogaloo' (also Rare Groove)
  17. Suprising that 'Rumasuma' doesn't score higher. I'd definitely put it ahead of 'Manhattan Egos'. Haven't heard 'Burning Spirits'. Any thoughts on this one?
  18. The Chet Baker bio has an interesting section about Woody Shaw's final year - I think he returned from Rotterdam to his parents back in the NYC area for care and attention during the final stage of the illness.
  19. There's also a Sonny Simmons DVD documentary for sale, in which he reminisces at length.
  20. Tubby Hayes 'Tubbs in NY' (Fontana). Recorded with the Horace Parlan trio
  21. Well said ! I agree 110% with your comments on the JJ set. The music is a class act, like the man himself. A box not to miss.

  23. Looks like the material on those CDs is not rare - from the Lps 'Volcano', 'At Her Majesty's Pleasure' and 'Off Limits', which are all fairly readily available.
