  1. The really hot stuff has moved 100 miles West. Not a cloud in the sky here.
  2. Probably the TV series I've enjoyed most in the last ten or so years. I saw a fair bit of series 1 when it was first broadcast on TV in the 90s but only saw all 3 via DVD. I especially enjoyed series 2 with Maria's son emerging as a Stockhausen like figure in the turbulence of the 60s. Yeah, I saw all 3 series when they were broadcast over here and was able to view repeats on video for the whole of Series 1 when it was first broadcast. It will be nice to digest the whole thing again 'at leisure'. Series 1 in particular was an absolute highlight of 1980s television, along with 'Das Boot'. Superior to anything generated on these islands, for sure. For anyone interested in these boxes - Fopp has them for £15 (Series 1 and 2) and £20 (Series 3). Fill your boots !
  3. Yet another day of 30 degrees + !
  4. Picked up the boxes for all 3 series of this German masterpiece recently. Exceptional !
  5. I wish Peterson would get his batting act together. It will be an interesting day's cricket today - I wonder if the Australian's will be able to build on Siddel's fine bowling spell late yesterday and if Joe Root can build a decent innings.
  6. Neil Ardley 'A Symphony of Amaranths' (Regal Zonophone) Ardley's masterpiece, IMO. With a wonderful cast too, including some renowned British classical players of the time - and Ivor Cutler.
  7. Jonathan Livingstone Seagull Albatross Seller Guillemots
  8. Graham Collier 'Deep Dark Blue Centre' (Deram, stereo)
  9. Mr Magoo Alistair McGowan Shane McGowan
  10. Nice box. For anyone in the UK, FOPP have it for £8. The only negative I have is that there are no sleeve notes or band line-ups, unfortunately. Minimal packaging.
  11. I was in Waterstones UCL store/Bloomsbury on Torrington Place yesterday. It (and the Fopp store adjoining it) seems to be doing fine !
  12. A fairly evenly poised game at the moment, I think. Good batting pitch though - that outfield is fast.
  13. Not sure - I wasn't aware that some of the CD versions came out later.
  14. Sandie Shaw Sir Cliff Katrina
  15. I've got the Art Hodes on LP but I'm not selling..
  16. Hapy Birthday !
  17. Nice one - $400 is a fair price and this is a very fine set indeed !
  18. HRH Duchess of Cambridge (mornings) The Duchess Duchess of Pork
  19. Did you raid a Swiss bank account to get it?
  20. He (Abate) was in good form at Swanage over the weekend.
  21. Happy Birthday !
  22. Very, very hazy out there this morning and the house still boiling hot from the day before. Today will be a pressure cooker..
  23. This one caused me a few palpatations.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRANT-GREEN-I-WANT-TO-HOLD-YOUR-HAND-1964-MONO-BLUE-NOTE-4202-EAR-RVG-NM-/261240046179?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=bg9FyPL%252B16NFGpWEdGuQRCG5iZo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  24. Played that one thin when I was 17. One of my first records - 10" LP. Saw Humph in concert a couple of years before he passed on (the previous time I saw him was around 1976 when he had Bruce Turner, Kathy Stobart and Mike Pyne in the band). Had a nice chat with him at the interval about his radio show and the merits of Horace Silver (!) and he kindly signed one of his books for me. I was even able to put in a personal request to have some Horace played on his BBC radio show. A very nice person and hugely influential over the years on my jazz listening.. On the same theme, I'll dig this 10" on Parlophone out (Vic Lewis's old audition copy)
  25. Good - need to have something to raise a bit of excitement at work !
