  1. The Gatefold must be the UK pressing and the non-Gatefold the German/European one. Never seen either of them in person ! I remember hearing about that 'Rock Workshop' - if I remember correctly vocalist Alex Harvey of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band was involved.

  4. Good deal. Third Class in the coal wagon?

  6. Up again with this 'Vintage' thread. Enjoyed listening to Ray Russell's 'Secret Asylum' on Reel CD over the past few days. The original LP would no doubt have totally bombed in the shops. Here's drummer Alan Rushton as part of the 'cast' on 70s BBC kiddies TV show 'Play Away', for anyone who remembers that one. Is that also Spike Heatley on bass? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H8_W7yv2vk
  7. Bresnan's performance contributed greatly to the positive momentum as well I think, with the key wicket. Som,ething of an unsung hero !
  8. Incredible turn-around performance from England this afternoon, Broad on fire - one of his greatest performances. I wouldn't have given them a chance at Tea - Australia 120 for 1 !! Amazing stuff.
  9. Those twofers were a real god-send back in the 1970s. The high street LP stores over here stocked them - a big plus, when most of the jazz selections in the racks stopped at Stanley Clarke and Spyrogyra. It really was a case that if you wanted/could afford imports then you had to get the train to Kings Cross.
  10. Happy Birthday !
  11. That is very true. Particularly those early Prestige 74000 series twofers pressed by RCA here (although I have reservations about the ones over here from Carrerre in France). The Riversides can be noisy though. The Savoys are some of the best of the lot !

Clifford, I'm only about 10 years late in responding to you on this but are you thinking about Basil Kirchin 'Worlds Within Worlds'? That one came out on UK Columbia (sort of - it never made full release I believe). Or maybe the Terry Durham 'Crystal Telephone' on Deram?

  20. TedR - I can relate completely with that. I still have most of the 'brown' twofers too and would not want to part with them. Not least because of the nice liner notes by Messrs Cuscuna and Lowrie plus various other knowledgable heads and the fine session pictures. Back in the late 1970s these twofers were the absolute Dog's Bollocks ! I've probably already said that some years ago earlier on in this thread but I don't care..
  21. Sad news - RIP. Seemed to me to ubiquitous in films from the 1970s onwards albeit always in a positive way.
  22. Rodney Marsh Rodders Del Boy
  23. I have the Deram LP. Usually goes for around £100 or so these days, they are certainly 'around'. Gonsalves a bit 'medicated' on this session.
  24. My copy is that America 3LP foldout version too - sounds fine.
  25. Really sorry to hear this (and shocked) . Last time I saw him he was in the piano chair in a Cannonball Adderley tribute group put together by Nat. RIP. Just found this photo of him taken at that particular performance.
