  1. Give it time and he'll have a fleet of enforcement UAVs circuiting the stage !
  2. Bob Crosby Israel Crosby Gilad Atzmon
  3. Shergar Ronnie Biggs Lord Lucan
  4. Conditions at Swanage yesterday were some of the best I have ever seen down there. It was as good as the Mediterranean - if not better.
  5. 4 more please. Two more weeks of this coming up.....
  6. To say that he exceeded expectations would be the understatement of the year ! This being an Ashes test, you expect neither team to give a quarter - so I don't know what the fuss is about.
  7. He still sounds wonderful to my ears. One of those sounds you can detect very easily. Yes, still one of the most distinctive and lyrical tenor stylists in European jazz. A good couple of shows at Swanage last night with Kate Williams' trio. I'll try to post a few pictures when I'm finished with the Swanage trips after the weekend. Miles Davis 'My Funny Valentine' (Columbia 2-eye stereo)
  8. Stan Tracey 'Under Milk Wood Suite' (UK Columbia, mono) By way of appetizer - going to see Bobby Wellins play tonight.
  9. Lou Donaldson 'Gravy Train' (BN NY USA, mono)
  10. Bumble and Farokh Engineer were pretty good ! I agree, Clive Lloyd was a phenomenal all-rounder - and a great captain too. Many of the players on my list retired around the 1971/73 period. It was the end of Yorkshire's last truly great side, 1960s vintage. Add Doug Padgett and Tony Nicholson to that list. Meanwhile, back at the Test..
  11. Robert Peel John Peel 'Dave' Cameron
  12. Jackie McLean 'Bluesnik' (BN 47W63rd mono, DG side 2)
  13. Frank Zappa Frank Skinner Frank Oz
  14. Was that the Tony Palmer 'All You Need Is Love' series? That would have been around 1975/76.
  15. Beep-Beep The Road Runner Junior Walker Junior
  16. Make sure to take a peek at the Painted Hall at the ex-naval gaff down the hill !
  17. Weather-wise it's looking pretty damn good for the Swanage Festival this weekend.
  18. Bring back Jim Laker, John Arlott and E W Swanton ! One of the best commentators of course was Richie Benaud. Remarkably impartial for an Aussie..
  19. What was that guy doing batting at No. 11? Should have been in at No. 2. Incredible performance ! He was remarkably sensible in his batting today. Will it last..? Now that brings back memories. One of the first matches I ever saw (Sunday League - John Player League no less ) had a Yorkshire side led by Illy (Closey had defected to the turnip-pickers) and with Phil Sharpe, Jimmy Binks, Fred Trueman, Don Wilson and Jack Hampshire. And a certain Mr G Boycott. I think I even asked for Jimmy Binks's autograph. I believe after he finished with cricket he emigrated to San Diego to the world of hi-tech software !
  20. ...all over by Saturday? Quite likely ! With conditions which swing the ball and erratic batting lineups like these two, I can't see it lasting the full 5 days. The dismissal of Prior yesterday, for example, was total recklessness - and Pietersen's dismissal was feeble too. Bring back Boycott and John Edrich and no hooks before lunch.
  21. Predictable batting collapse from both teams !
  22. Happy Birthday !
  23. 'Pendulum' Mosaic Select, Cds 1 and 2
  24. John LaPorta '3 Moods' (Debut, Mono)
