  1. 'Bloody good' would be my opinion too - a Liberty-era Blue Note gem. Both Stan and Thad in fime form. Reminds me of Donald Byrd's 'The Creeper' in terms of quality meeting/exceeding expectations.
  2. I already had 'Katanga' and found the Select to be a useful addition for the Bryant material, although admittedly it's not a set I play frequently.
  3. Fantastic news - congrats ! Puts all the crap out there into context..
  4. I have one of them every night.
  5. Baby Face Willette 'Stop and Listen' (BN NY USA mono)
  6. I hope you use one of these for flip the record, otherwise... A keyboard and a monitor?
  7. Definitely off. I haven't used a dust cover for years. I keep mine boxed.
  8. Original creosote pressing ? (or whatever they used - acetate?)
  9. Excellent !
  10. Seconded - that's the band with Hilton Ruiz on piano. Saw them play pretty well everything on the album at Ronnie Scott's during the tour this was recorded. They were smokin' !
  11. Agreed. I was actually going back in to add those when I saw your post. Vol. 1 especially with George Coleman on board. Yeah - it's still the best of those fine albums. Issued in the US on Muse (although the rest were Timeless only I think).
  12. I believe he's resident these days in Australia - but still writes for Jazz Journal International in the UK, so should be contactable via the JJI offices. Sorry I've nothing more specific. Jazz Journal's UK number is 020-8532-0456/0678. Good luck. Wasn't this the first Mole Jazz Lp release? In any event, reissue very welcome !
  13. It's from one of the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) Jazz Workshops recorded up in Hamburg. A lot of the musicians at these workshops were featured at the Berlin Festivals on the same year so I guess there's an informal tie-in with that. NDR did issue LPs within Germany of some of this material back in the day.
  14. I'm just listening to CD1 of the Bennie Green Select. Nice sound, very enjoyable modern-mainstream music. A good Select !
  15. Nice to see the 'Bemsha Swing' available but $30 is a bit ridiculous !
  16. Cedar Walton 'Eastern Rebellion' Vols 1 to 4
  17. Volker Kriegel on guitar and Barry Altschul on drums I believe. Guenther Lenz on bass, Ack Van Rooyen 2nd trumpet. One of Joachim-Ernst Berendt's workshops from the 1960s (68?). Rotary valve flugel !
  18. That's got to be just about the coolest t-shirt ever !
  19. Definitely ! I would rate that one and 'Sixth Sense' pretty high. They don't get much in the way of critical plaudits (and lots of Morgan fans don't much like them) but these two are definitely two of my favourite latter Morgan Blue Notes.
  20. Yeah - I got a DVD of that performance through dime. It's most enjoyable ! Hm, I must have skipped that for lack of space and bandwidth... though for Rhoda I should have got it, I assume! If you can't find it - give me a shout.
  21. Too bad there's no big sets - but then again the ol' wallet needs a rest !
  22. Sounds like a good name for a band.
  23. It's definitely the black slipcase with the two inner boxes. Quite the beast in terms of size ! (at least the vinyl one). cbod - I'm assuming that it was you who won that boxless set that was recently on ebay. Congrats for that and welcome !
  24. Yeah - I got a DVD of that performance through dime. It's most enjoyable !
  25. Various Artists - 'Black Giants' (UK CBS 2LP stereo)
