    Shocking and extremely sad news. I agree with Dan though that he left a fine legacy and I will be spinning the 'House of David' collection tonight in recognition. RIP and thanks for some great music.

    Ah well - only the 2 of us then. Yes, it was Jimmy Smith on that picture - the 'Extensions' is on that cool 'Jazzy '67' poster on the other side of the inner liner, along with 'Blue Spirits' and one of Sam Rivers' LPs ('Contours'?).

    That one makes me grin too ! Isn't there also a copy of George Braith's 'Extensions' on the floor too that she is oggling? That picture is on the inner sleeve of the French Pathe Marconi DMMs.

    Interesting person. Ever read about him? "Love, the Mystery Of" on one of Blakey's drum albums is by Guy Warren. He recorded in the UK both on his own albums for Columbia and with the Rendell/Carr Quintet on 'Change Is'. Brought into that band by Ian Carr.

    Wow - 'Caramba' in the pop charts. The mind boggles ! Having said that, the first copy of this I got (and 'Sixth Sense') was on an original issue cassete tape 70s oil crisis mail order import bargain - and I think it also came out on 8-track.

    Sounds like a nice one, especially recreating Bird with Strings I think it's just with his regular quartet and not the 'Bird With Strings' project - even so I'm looking forward to it.
