  1. Not Trilok Gurtu..
  2. It is Gerald Wilson but not Pacific Jazz. Kenton connection comment relates to disk 1.
  3. Correct - it is Art Farmer ! Any ideas on track details? It's not from "Gentle eyes", though that has a rather similar approach. My guess is, it's the title track from "Crawl space" on CTI. (Not Freddie Hubbard on CTI, but Art Farmer on CTI - very subtle!) MG It IS from Gentle Eyes ! - on Mainstream. Any idea of the track?
  4. Of course, count me in please ! Download is fine.
  5. That's very sad news Brownie. I always liked his recordings with Clifford Brown and Gigi Gryce - for sure one of the best guitarists on the French scene. And an expat from the US for many years. RIP.
  6. Thank you Durium and good that you enjoyed it (which, at the end of the day, is all that counts) ! 1. Not Don Ellis ! 9. Not Wess or Most ! 10. Yes, there is indeed an Indian influence. Not Dr. Lloyd Miller though.. :rsmile:
  7. This was indeed recorded out West !
  8. Just a friendly reminder that anyone signing up here has got to put their comments in the BFT60 threads first. Otherwise I'll be sending the boys round ! Just kidding.. :g
  9. Nest order I put in to Vocalion I'll definitely pick up a copy of this David Snell.
  10. Yep, I'll put you out of your misery - it's Brashear !
  11. No - but there might be a Kenton connection.
  12. Thank you MG - and glad you like it. Congrats for nailing two of them ! (any ideas on album and title for track 4?)
  13. Not CBBB and Griff but I can definitely see why you would think so. The tenor player indeed is roaring !
  14. Don't think there's a tenor feature on this one but the earlier bit has clarinet and then it leads in to a baritone feature. There's a lot of echo effects - and maybe the LP mix has the band too prominent. Quite a lot of brass in it - typical of this arranger at this vintage.
  15. Glad you like it ! It's flugel - and you've already nailed the player from one of your earlier guesses. A very mellow album, for sure.
  16. Video game? Pac-man maybe? Not 70s/80s but yes this is a really nice arrangement.
  17. Not Farmer, Golson or Holland. Right vintage though.
  18. Not Milt !
  19. Not Mr. K (can't spell it !)
  20. Correct - and this is taken from a deep groove copy of the original LP.
  21. Not Jonah Jones - but it is an R&B group with jazzers ! I think it's just the one tenor soloist but will have to check.
  22. Correct - it is a Gerald Wilson arrangement. And it is Brashear on trumpet. :rsmile:
  23. Not Coltrane or Ali/Williams on drums ! Not Alice - although there is a connection.. :rsmile:
  24. Not Thad - and not a Bellson group. It is a flugel though !
