  1. Don’t think I have that one. I have the Roulette Tea though.
  2. The ‘Roots’ session.
  3. Going by what was in the doc, it will focus on the baroness more than the jazz I think, although Monk featured prominently in that prog as I recall. As I remember it, she moved from London to NY for a while in the 80s to stay with Nica for a period.
  4. I saw her BBC documentary on this year’s ago and scanned the book around that time - the impression I got was that it didn’t add too much to what was in the programme but I may be wrong !
  5. Still in stock at JazzMessengers.com, for the moment.
  6. My (immaculate) King copy also from Mr Tanno. It will be on deck later on tonight.
  7. Canadian ECM version, Polydor pressing. Rather noisy and not a patch on the German version but not too bad.
  8. Sounds also from what Joe was saying that there will be some Transition titles to come. I guess the Donald Byrd titles will be well up there.
  9. Yusef Lateef on Atlantic was playing (years ago) at the Starbucks in Bath. Also Lee Morgan, can’t recall the title.
  10. Sounds like it is either the King LP or Mosaic Grant Green/Sonny Clark set for that title on vinyl. ’Sweet Honey Bee’ tape loss not a total surprise but no mention of ‘Jody Grind’. Very Interesting interview !
  11. Up for this thread and the TV broadcast of ‘Original Peter’ by the BBC from 1970, with the Concert Jazz Band plus Norma Winstone. Totally bonkers but great ! Original Peter 1970 Where else can you see a Dave Holdsworth trumpet solo backed by a Punch and Judy show punch-up !
  12. Likely to be good sound. I think these were recorded for CBC broadcast at the time.
  13. Yeah, it’s a gem. One of his very best. Jimmy Garrison comes through very clearly on this version and there’s a very spacious sound to Elvin’s drums.
  14. The new Acoustic Sounds version. Probably better than the real thing.
  15. Canadian pianist and arranger who was based in Alberta and very active in Canadian broadcasting. Yes, that’s him. I saw him a few times, at least once backing Judi Singh I think.
  16. Soul Brother 2LP. Signed by Gary for me when he toured the UK for this release with them (with Eddie Henderson).
  17. Usually goes for around £100 in exc. nick these days, I think.
  18. Excellent Bergenfield NJ copy, mono.
  19. That Clark Terry album sounds sort of plausible ! As for Dick and Spiro - maybe ‘plays Gallivan and Young’?
  20. Timeless -not the Japanese version. Will have to check mine, can’t recall any noise issues although those CBS LPs of that era can be noisy.
  21. Careful selection is required with the pressings. Tone Poets and Acoustic Sounds Verve/Impulses are usually great - but priced accordingly. A fair amount of budget dross from dubious pressing plants out there. When vinyl is done correctly though and on the right equipment - hard to beat.
  22. Double prairie fires.
