  2. Dobbie the House Elf Errol Garner Clint Eastwood
  3. No brainer - LP12 ! Was the 'yes' from bank manager or Mrs-to-be? Enjoy the McCoy. I think I'll be checking him out in Bath in a few weeks' time.
  4. Nuclear Tea And Cucumber Sandwiches
  5. David Cameron Cameron Brown Gordon Broon
  6. Happy Birthday, Yves. Hopefully more Mosaics/vinyl?
  7. Spent a fair bit of today diggin the 'Joe Henderson Complete Milestone' box and the 'Eric Dolphy Complete Prestige' box. The Dolphy is of course desert island material but the Henderson is a fascinating insight to his neglected 'middle period'. Disks 7 and 8 with 'The Elements', the Flora Purim tracks and 'Black Narcissus' are very good - strange that 'Black Narcissus' doesn't get more plaudits.
  8. Wee Willie Harris Keith Harris Orville
  9. Hey Lonson - nice commentary, great sales pitch. You make me want to buy that set (which I will in any case when it gets to 'running low'). You should definitely be working for Mosaic A&R/Marketing.
  10. Aric Efron Aric the Half-A-Bee Eric Bloodaxe
  11. I'm impressed. Preparing Spaghetti Carbonara whilst changing LPs ! Now spinning: Lou Donaldson 'Sweet Slumber' (King GXF, stereo) after that - Music Matters 'LD+3' (45rpm stereo)
  12. Once worked in a place that had a guy called Alan Parsons running one of the technical sections. Of course, it was referred to as 'The Project'.
  13. Indeed. It would seem that it was only after the horrors of Stalingrad and the Eastern Front into 1943 that the Wehrmacht officer corps could see that the situation was irretrievable and that the only solution would be to take Hitler out and do a deal. Before then it would seem that they were more than happy to go along with his plans.
  14. Michel Sardou Michel Legrand Michel
  15. That sounds a bit radical !
  16. Hope it's a good one !
  17. Time to invest in a box of chocolates porcy !
  18. I'm really looking forward to 'Secret Sessions' - and Lon's comments have wetted the appetite further. Have been diggin' the 'Last Waltz' box too - particularly fascinating having seen this group only weeks before in London on a couple of consecutive nights and the effect of hearing the box set was to take me back what is now nearly 30 years ( ). It was indeed a most memorable trio.
  19. Whichever way I look at it it's clockwise for me. Call me 'Mr Right Brain'.
  20. Yeah, this is a good one.
  21. Or put on superman outfits and protest from the roof of Parliament. Hell, seems to work ! Next up: Harold Vick 'Steppin' Out' (BN NY USA mono)
  22. Yes - that has been the cause for the closing of pretty well all of them. At least the ones in popular and lucrative city centre sites. Usually they closed to make way for ladies fashion outlets.
  23. Damn, why did my fave vinyl shop shut down! Not a good shop in the whole capital. Man, I live in a Third World country. It took some digging out Porcy. In a shop full of crap LPs by the likes of Demis Rousos, Showadywaddy and the Wurzels there was a forlorn stack of 50s original jazz which I suspect must have come from a deceased fan. In the middle of it all was this particular gem. Unfortunately, most of the rest either I already had or covers or vinyl was fairly trashed (an Art Farmer 'Aztec Suite' with torn cover but great vinyl on London for example - maybe I should go back for that one?). The vinyl stores are very much on the way out here too. Most of my faves have already gone. This one somehow lingers on.
  24. My latest acquisition: Ernie Wilkins with Donald Byrd/Ernie Royal/Joe Wilder/Idrees Sulieman etc. 'Top Brass Featuring Five Trumpets'. Recorded RVG, Exec Producer the late Ozzie Cadena. UK London DG mono pressing of the Savoy session. And sounding way better than the Savoy, I'm sure. In great condition and picked up for princely sum of £5
  25. Horace Parlan 'On The Spur Of The Moment' (BN NY USA DG both sides)
