  5. Lots of good things on CD and 180g vinyl just appeared on the Rearward/Schema site in Italy. Wow ! First 2 Boland/Shihab titles available from Rearward direct ('Companionship' and 'Music For The Small Hours' - both very rare titles) and Dusty in the USA also seem to have stocks in of the first 3 (including the 'Seeds' - wonder how they managed that when it's not yet available from Schema? ). They've even got a reissue of 'The Golden Eight' coming up too. Fill yer CBBB boots ! I've ordered the two Boland/Shihab titles and also the 'Afrodite'. CBBB Nirvana (note - select 'skip intro' for titles to come up)
  6. Bob, I'm glad I went as I'd not seen Moran before or heard much of his music. Overall it was more than a tad disappointing. If it's not too far to go I might be be tempted but otherwise stay in for Eurovision!!!!! Or better still dust off some vinyl. Thanks John and thanks, ejp626 It's a bit of a trek so vinyl and Mosaics it is, with the Eurovision Comedy Contest for some light entertainment. I'll plan on the Tyner on Monday I think - always worth checking out and Eric Gravatt is on drums. Bath is a bit of a disappointment this year. They've cut down quite a bit on the number of shows, which makes the weekend pass option much less attractive. Maybe the subsidies from the Arts Council have been cut back?
  7. Walt Dickerson/Sun Ra 'Impressions Of A Patch Of Blue' (MGM mono)
  8. Leonard Woolf General Wolfe Abraham
  9. Is it worth seeing, John? I'm tempted to check it out at the Bath Fest tonight but may well hang fire and go along to McCoy Tyner/Joe Lovano on Monday night instead. Any thoughts?

  13. I've never been to Austin but - good luck ! I hope it works out well for you.
  14. I think I'll be putting in an order by mail for the £15 deal too - should be a good read. Always liked Mike Hennesey's sleeve notes on some of the CBBB albums and various offerings on MPS ! They are also doing 'specials' on the Ian Carr 'Music Outside' book and Derek Ansell's Mobley bio.
  15. Now spinning Walt Dickerson & Sun Ra 'Visions' (Steeplechase)
  16. Thanks !
  17. OK, well maybe one of these then..
  18. I wonder which venue that was recorded in? Schocter Theatre? Great that it was recorded.
  19. As we are all heading back into the 1970s, maybe we should revert to this?
  20. John Patton 'Accent On The Blues' (BN Rare Grooves Edition, stereo)
  21. Hank Mobley 'A Caddy For Daddy' (BN NY USA stereo) ..... Not ! (renamed for 2008 issue 'A Fiat 500 For Daddy')
  22. You could be right. No doubt after the US have had their RV vacations and the Chinese subsidies are pulled, reality will kick in again. Hopefully..
  23. Talking of Johnny Griffin, he's due to be at Ray's Jazz in London next Tuesday for a book signing with Mike Henessey for the new bio out from Northway. Too bad it's unlikely I can get to that one . Alternatively you can buy it from Northway direct. They are doing the book ('The Little Giant - The Story Of Johnny Griffin') for £15 inc. P&P to UK mainland addresses I believe, special offer before 15th June (regular price is £19.99). Check out www.northwaybooks.com
  24. ? Too American for me, I suspect. MG Think keyboard player. Joe Henderson? MG As in Joe "Piano" Henderson? That well known hard bop pianist?
  25. "Goldman Sachs has warned that prices could reach $200 in a final spike, and even the bears at Lehman Brothers say there may be enough momentum to keep the boom going until Christmas". More pain ahead I'm afraid, methinks..
