  1. It's always entertaining checking out the early weekend nightmares/hangovers of the North American board members posters, as they wake up and get back on line.
  2. Well, I for one won't be pissed off, because I'm watching the cricket . Total non-event of a game ! Having said that, I think it is very good that the final isn't being dominated yet again by the over-exposed, overpaid mercenaries of Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea etc.
  3. Boris Becker Boris Johnson Hooray Henry
  4. Harry The Hipster Lacy Gibson Batman
  5. Good description. That set is fascinating ! Today - Miles Columbia 63-64 set, LPs 2 to 4. Sam Rivers Blue Note LP set, LPs 1 and 2 Then possibly some of the Kenton/Holman/Russo LP set and/or the Phil Woods set.
  6. Yep, 'crystallizer' or 'catalyst' would be a very apt description - and a shrewd talent spotter/utiliser. Great and visionary artist, without a doubt though.
  7. First I've heard of this. You mean, Miles actually pioneered in 1972 a music that had been developed by James Brown and, on the jazz side, Freddie McCoy in the mid-sixties. Wow! That takes some doing! MG But neither of these guys dabbled in Indo-jazz fusion and Stockhausian repetitive grooves though, which Miles (with Buckmaster and Teo) did integrate into the mix.
  8. Doris Day Robin Day Sir John Nott
  9. Patrick Swayze Pat Patrick Eloe Omoe
  10. I wonder if these tracks were taken from the 'Jazz 625' recorded by this line up up in Kilburn, West London (possibly at the Gaumont?). Don't know of any 'Royal' Jazz Festival (oxymoron? the only Royal who would ever touch jazz would be king ubu ). The '625' by this group had a short trio set by Teddy Wilson and also an appearance (and excellent it is) by T-Bone Walker. It was recorded back in 1966 I think (it would be either that or '65 but more likely it is '66).
  11. Also available as part of the Curtis Amy Mosaic Select for anyone interested in getting this session.
  12. Bought the whole lot back in the day (and also all the 'West Coast Classics') and they are sitting in one of the racks with the OBI strips on them.
  13. Miles Davis 'Columbia 63-64' set, LP1
  14. Thanks, sw - nice to be back although difficult to re-awaken the posting habit. There might be something by Ronnie Ross for download that you would find of interest at http://ronnierossmusic.blogspot.com/ Oooooo - thank you !
  15. That one sounds pretty good (bought it about 30 years ago) but I'd love to hear the East Wind version. Just spinning Tal Farlow 'Trinity' (CBS/Sony - Teo Macero production)
  16. Sad news - RIP. I have quite a few of his original albums (including the 'Name Band 1959') and will dig these out over the weekend.
