  1. I have unbounded respect for Jim and if he tells me to stop, I will go away out of respect to him and his work. I wouldn't expect nothing different from you. You're one the guys who makes this place worthing, though I hate you attitude against audiophiles
  2. Hey, we were trying to answer at your question, all the guys checked out their copy of Silver and wroted down informations, and add some suggestions coming from personal experience, no need to be rude. Nobody here said you're trying to fraud anybody. Or I misunderstood the tone of your post WOW, I think you're not reading me right or I'm not expressing myself right. It seems that there are too many possibilites and the only way to be sure is to open it. I just re-read my post and see that it could be read sarcastically, but that was NOT the way it was intended. I just now that I ALWAYS pay extra for shrinkwrap and I would definitely pay extra for a sealed copy for myself if I knew it was an original (and also knew that it wasn't a reseal). But that seems to be too many ifs and buts. I think it is probably best to lay the cards out on the table. But for collector geekiness sake, I'd love for the next owner to know that regardless of what pressing it is.......it was sealed until some time in late 2007 or early 2008. I sure hope it is an unplayed Deep Groove 1st pressing. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I am italian, so it's not so easy for me to get the tone of your post. No problems
  3. Only once that I'm aware of - iirc, a British magazine refused to review our cd after someone on the board had written negative comments about said mag. We sort of shrugged that one off; for one thing, the comments were not wholly inaccurate. Over the 40 years I've had my company we've had about 4 different distributors on the UK. None of them sold more than 50 of any title. Who would want to "kill free speech" to gain that? Not saying 50 sales are nothing, but weigh the consequences vs self respect. I hate this shit when folks are afraid to say what they mean to "protect" commerce. I have undoubtedly lost sales for my uncensored comments here but I accept that and feel it's "their" problem and they lose by not owning some great music. If I thought many posters to any thread were "holding back" to be "polite" I probably wouldn't be around long. In theory I fully agree with you, and I know how thought is business in entertainment. FWIW I sold my shares in a company I owned at 25% because I had to put food on the table, but mostly because I didn't agree with the other trustees. I hidden myself in a very specific role: as film editor I have a reputation, I've got a Ph.D. in History of Cinema, that it's help...and I am an handsome and funny 45 y/o male, so I am pretty hip on the job market among female directors. (let me allowed some narcisism) Sure I made enemies along my careers, I refuse underpayed job and I can be pretty rude with young (and old) incompetent directors. But I never had a Blog or a Forum to promote my job, so I never thought about being harmed by the posts people could do in it. I think it's totally dumb to hold responsable the Band for what we post on the forum, but it seems that some pricks cares, thanks again Chris for the word, About the forum admittely I understimates the thing: at the end jazz business is not different to any other show business, even worst: the cake is smaller then TV broadcasting so the struggling is even harder. Personally I admire you and Chris for holding the line and the coherence. Though I feel ill at easy because I am not betting my ass, it's Jim's one.
  4. Only once that I'm aware of - iirc, a British magazine refused to review our cd after someone on the board had written negative comments about said mag. We sort of shrugged that one off; for one thing, the comments were not wholly inaccurate. Bums me out to see members of quality still getting upset with each other, especially so soon after such a grand show of board-wide generosity. Joe, this seems a very serious issue, IMO, and complex too. I mean that it has to be explained and explorated deeply, because if the liberty, free speech, whatever you want to call it, in the Forum, collides with your careers, as they say: Houston, we got a problem. A problem that can't be solved with a more politeness and some good feelings toward Bernie Nierow/Nero. If the music industry is sensitive of what are going on the forum up to a level of refusing a review or a gig, well...
  5. If it's true, and I have no reason to not believe you, maybe Jim should have had been more clear about the reason for closing down the forum, a part the economic side, the family and his career. Because if we, the forum, are hurting the Band, the donation's rally would be a tragic mistake, we bounded Jim to forum and in doing so we damaged his career. Shees. Paradoxical situation.
  6. I am asking myself the same questions.
  7. I did, and she replied: "Well, in this case you should put a label on the records with the value in the collecting market, you know, just in case..." From that day I prefer to contr....help her in the kitchen, you know, just in case...

  9. I don't know whether this one works good or not, anyway, zoologist are formals : This is a Female . Male has only one "on/off" Switch. And we are heterosexual, aren't we? Do you think my wife would be jealous of 'she'? A little help for your answer: my wife haven't got any access to my bank account's report.
  10. Thanks! Actually when someone wish you good luck for something we use to say 'In bocca al lupo' (In mouth of the wolf) and the answer is 'crepi il lupo' (die the wolf). Italian superstition against bad luck.
  11. Yep, me too. I have a bad sight since I was a child, basically very few olfaction because of a childhood disease (and too much cigarettes)...but a great hear, doctors explained me that when some of your senses fail, the others increase. A natural self adaptation. BTW I always felt some weariness after listening music with earplugs.
  12. Thanks Michel, BUT I won an eBay auction for a sealed Shorter's 'JUJU' that ended up with an unplayed mint NY 'ear' mono pressing, though I have to say that my bid wasn't conditioned too much by the word "sealed", rather then by the fact that I really wanted a mono pressing of the record, one of my fave BN Shorter's session. So Cohn may be right and I was only lucky that a spare mint 'ear' NY pressing was sealed by Liberty when they toked over. On the other hand I shipped back a sealed, and unplayed copy, of a Velvet Underground's record that was evidently a mispressed vinyl destinated to trash and recovered somewhere by the seller. A nice seller BTW, I got a fully refund for it. The joy and the pain of collecting vinyl.
  13. 1) find another publisher for my novel, (the latest one dropped it down because of some disagreement on my book among his employers/co-workers, what a PRICK, thanks Chris I didn't knew the word, he was the damn boss, he was enthusiast about my work, meet me, a lot of compliments, a promise of a contract, and after a month I discovered that he changed opinion). 2) Start practicing Haikido. 3) Digging in my existing collection.
  14. Are you kidding me? Check these: http://stereophile.com/tubepoweramps/704wavac/ http://stereophile.com/turntables/106con/ Basically the EMT is a big bargain!
  15. I agree, I bought few expensive sealed records, and I had to ship one or two back because they were worn, unplayed, but worn.
  16. All of it, the more it provides an antropological essay of Sir James George Frazer about the origin of the tapes, in german and english, obviously.
  17. My copy has no address, 'High Fidelity' on the back cover on the top left, thick cardboard. Labels: one side DG (side 2), 63rd St. label address, RVG stamp and "ear" on both sides. Heavy vinyl. About the weight, I presume that an early plastilyte "ear" NY reissue is more or less the same of a late 63rd St. Just guessing. I have the feeling that the early Lexington's were heavier, but since I quitted to sell dope MANY, MANY, MANY, years ago I sold my precison balance, I am sorry that I couldn't check it out.
  18. Yep, yep
  19. Yep
  20. The oldest and the greatest one, but too late for Reptet, if I understood the request. There are a lot of music and jazz festivals over here, but it's pretty hard to check them all, because often they didn't get the money for one to next year. So it could has been a Bari Jazz Festival in April 2007 that there will be not in 2008. Anyway I have a close friend who tried, unsuccessfully, to promote a jazz group, I'll ask her. BTW that group wasn't at the same level of Reptet!
  21. I love you all guys, it's nice to be at home
  22. Yeah, and the pushers should consume less merchandise. I mean the coke should have had burned your brain to even conceive such idiot thing.
  23. Hi Johnny, sorry, but I haven't got any serious connections with festivals over here. The fact is that they are spread all over the country. I might, I can't assure you about the result, investigating about Rome. The point is that, if you want a Festival, in Rome Music Festivals are part of Estate Romana, (Roman Summer), that is obviously in summer. Anyway you can PM me with a more precise requests and explain me what a St. Dep travel grant would require.
  24. Looks like Rodriguez' movies: Once Upon a Time in Mexico or El Mariachi.
  25. I am not sure I would like a "sanitized" forum, maybe because I am one of "bad guys". An episode to explain what I mean. In the WC thread, after Italy won the Championship I erupted in some heavy insulting posts toward other members. One the reason was that, as you probably know, italians suffered racism when they emigrated in U.S. and North Europe, including some of my parents. The fact is that I took the general disdain for my national team as personal, because of that. It touched my hidden nerve, reminded me the story I heard about from my emigrated relatives, all the common insults as mafiosi, thief, lazy, ecc.. The more I was happy for the victory and I expected the congrats from other members that obviously were pissed off because their teams lost. Plus add the "Zidane affair" in the recipe. Zidane lost his temper, he was a great and a professional player who played for years in italian league, he wasn't a child. I have a good friend who played for a while as pro football player: provoking the adversary is pretty normal in order to making him losing concentration or temper, like it's pretty normal exaggerating fouls inside the goal area looking for penalty kicks. Bad habits, I admit, but it goes like that everywhere, for every teams, not only in Italy, look at Cristiano Ronaldo. Instead of blaming Zidane, some people excused him for being "provoked". And I exploded. Actually I acted in the forum like Zidane on the playground: losing temper. Obviously blaming italian players didn't imply blaming me personally, but as you see in this case, it's pretty difficult to discuss anything with "respect". Anyway I wouldn't like CCs (Cleaned Clem or Cleaned Catesta or Cleaned Chris or Cleaned Chuck), this place would became pretty boring.
