  1. Climate over here is a bit dizzy. In the last two month the temperatures are going up and down with a spread of ten/twelve C° often on daily basis. Not a big problem for us, city's rats, but seriously annoying for farmers and agriculture in general. The biggest concern for city's rats like me is to find a different price (usually higer) at grocery street markets every weeks, because I usually buy local products: vegetables and fruits mostly.
  2. Hey Van Basten did you see the yurpean championship tournements? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/i...als/7123700.stm
  3. To answer the question of the title of the thread: you can switch them off, and I do it most of the time. Though I think that generally cell phones are some sort of imposing annoyance, sometimes I found interesting listen to other people's private conversations, my personal social and psychological survey. Actually it happened to arguing with a guy at post office: he was bothered by the fact I was listening his own business, I said that a postal office is a public place so if he wanted some privacy he could go to the toilet and stick his cell phone...you know, I am an Organissimo Forum's member so I have to keep a reputation of rude guy. True story, anyway. And I gained a general applause from the crowd in the post office: the guy was really a bothersome idiot.
  4. I saw him with the Berliner Philarmoniker conducted by Abbado at the Royal Albert Hall, many many years ago. I forgot the program, but a great performance. The same year I got the Ninth of Beethoven played by London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tennstedt. Curiosly the young Brendel on picture looked like my father, an impressive likeness.
  5. TORERO Banda Corrida Of Mexico City Bluebell Records. I wish add OLE!
  6. Chris Farlowe OUT OF TIME Stateside, italian pressing mono.
  7. J.S. Bach THE WELL-TEMPERED KLAVIER , Glenn Gould on piano CBS
  8. Chris Farlowe THE ART OF CHRIS FARLOWE Immediate, italian pressing, mono.
  9. Sorry GS, I growned up in countryside surrounded by dogs and cats, I still remember every name of them, I understand how bad it could be. I wish you the best.
  10. The Jimmy Heath Orchestra REALLY BIG! Riverside mono, as above
  11. Clifford Jordan Quartet SPELLBOUND Riverside stereo. From this http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;#entry719808
  12. I can loose control and I can be unpolite like everybody's else. I am an adult with a lot of flaws like everybody's else, I am not claiming I am THE PERFECT MAN, nobody here is it. When I was wrong or unpolite, and I was, I apologized and recognized my fault. That's adulthood for me. Nobody here will chasing you around internet in order to threaten your personal life or you family or your reputation. It's a forum, a discussion board, discussions can be harsh and nasty, as well as interesting or useless. For me adulthood implies you can manage all this. If you're interested in other's POV. So being able to apologize afterwards makes it OK to be rude and impolite? And that is proof of adulthood in your view? I couldn't disagree more. We clearly live in two very different worlds. It might be an idea to think twice and proof read a post (and remove any name calling and rudeness) before hitting the reply button. That way you wouldn't have to apologize afterwards No, we live in the very same world. We just have a different POV and temper. I presume you never apologized for anything you did in your life, because you never lost control nor your politeness and never did a mistake. I envy you and your cold blood. No name calling in this post, so no apologize in the next one Thanks for calling me cold-blooded, very nice. Of course I made many mistakes and of course I apologized many times, but that is not the point here. If there's something I hate, it's bad manners and rudeness and I will avoid that in my posts, and that (bad manners and rudeness in posts) is what we're talking about in this discussion, not about the way we behave in the real world - we know nothing about each other and our behaviour outside this forum, so let's leave that out of this. I think we made our points of view clear and I don't see any point in going on. In my post "cold blood" was meant as someone who doesn't loose control, not an insult at all. FWIW.
  13. Just collected for free one hundred records from a friend of a friend, that wanted to get rid of them. Mostly crap, but some Riverside and Impulse! plus some rock and Glenn Gould box sets. And a big bunch of the stuff that Teasing The Korean would love. I didn't listened to any of them yet, so maybe I could have been only the garbage man.

  16. Steve gets to speak negatively about other engineer's work and that seems to be ok. That's the part I don't like. If we say something negative about Steve, we're taking food from his children's mouths. If only Steve was as concerned about these other engineers, if only..... Well, it's part of the business as well: speaking negatively against your competitors. I mean if I remastered Soul Station and RVG did the same, speaking negatively about RVG would push my product. Welcome to the free trade. That's all fine with me except the part where he and his gorts sqash any negativity towards Steve and his work because it's against the forum's policies. (Happened to see this post and thought I'd reply) No, it's because they feel that negativity towards Steve Hoffman and his work can harm his business interests and threaten his livelihood as a result. Please note that this is not what I think, it's how Steve Hoffman and the gorts at his forum see it. I don't think Jim would take it kindly if members would post anything negative here about him, his playing and his band - such negativity would certainly not bring in more dates, would it... Sorry, J.A.W. but you asked for it. From my point of view, running up a forum in order to promote your work is absolutely legal and legit. Deleting 'negative' posts or critics is absolutely legal, though not very 'elegant' (but, hey it's THE RULE, if you don't like it post elsewhere). Denigrating your competitor's work, aka RVG or Bernie Grundmann or anyonelse, is frankly disgusting and I am not sure it's absolutely legal. I mean everytime all the SH's gorts jump at the throat of every other remastering engineers, a part Mr. Hoffman, they are threating their livelihoods. If I were a competitor of SH I probably could sue his gorts and mr. H. for slander and damage. About Jim and Organissimo. First have a look at this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=33019 Second I don't think Jim would delete a post where someone said his last cd is not at the same level of Larry Young' Unity...isn't it? Please read my posts carefully and don't put words into my mouth - I never said anything about Steve Hoffman condemning the work of other mastering engineers; as a matter of fact I don't think he should do that, but that's not the point in my posts. I was explaining why negativity towards him and his work is not tolerated on his forum, that's all. By the way, I think the rudeness and insults in some of the previous posts do not help getting the message across and it says a lot about this forum and some of its members that offensive remarks and personal attacks are made and allowed here. It's got nothing to do with freedom of expression, it's just mud slinging, nothing else. I didn't put words into your mouth. I express my opinion about your post and developped the issue: defending SH livelihood by his gorts in the way they often did damage other remastering engineers's reputation. About "freedom of expression", well, Clem is Clem, Chuck is Chuck, Chris is Chris and I am me...adulthood implies you can deal with people with different opinions and writing styles. If you are offended by them, you should be able to ask for an explanation or apologizes if you think you deserve it and clear the issue without leaving. That's my opinion.
  17. It might be, but I did a blind test with my wife and my son with the iPod hooked on my system and the cd player. Guess who won?
  18. No. That's one of the reason because exists stuff like that: http://www.toneimports.com/emt/jpa66.html The other is to steal money from vinyl's nut like me.

  20. Give 'em a call and find out! Right, their customer service is terrific. I broked one cd from a big set, mailed to them and they sent a replace for free. I think the guy's name is Scott. edit: I bought the set directly from them, so your situation may be a little different, but if you are a registered Mosaic customer, you shouldn't have any problem.

  22. I didn't mean we shouldn't enjoy our passions, only being aware about what it implies in term of enviromental impact. If you like watching movies on TV, or sport, it's fine for me. The point is that in a lot of houses TV is switched on all day and nobody really watch at it. Like radio in the old days. It's a background. Now, a small transistors radio consumes few watts, a 40 inches flat screen is another story.
  23. Please, please, try to pick up any of the three albums I mentioned. They are absolute gems, especially Village Green. Promise, but I'll look for vinyls
  24. Not really sure if the early Who could be referred to middle class, at least in U.K. in the mid-late sixties.
