  1. Correct. I’d buy a Riverside or a Pacific Jazz or a Vee Jay or a Prestige or an Impulse sight unseen. Columbia and other general labels might be underestimated unless they have some big names on the cover.
  2. Indeed, I tend to understimate labels like Columbia, Miles a part, compared to Blue Note, Prestige, Riverside and others.
  3. Digging this one on these days.
  4. Same here. And I wanted to get rid of dupes and music I don't listen anymore, so I loaded all my stuff on Discogs and started selling what I don't need anymore.
  5. I posted this in the Covid poll. I thought I have to repost it here because IMO it's the wisest and smartest contribution I read about the covid, and trust me I read lots of them, unfortunately. At the Epicenter of the Covid-19 Pandemic and Humanitarian Crises in Italy: Changing Perspectives on Preparation and Mitigation https://catalyst.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/CAT.20.0080
  6. I found it interesting. At the Epicenter of the Covid-19 Pandemic and Humanitarian Crises in Italy: Changing Perspectives on Preparation and Mitigation https://catalyst.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/CAT.20.0080
  7. Some trios from this.
  8. A crunchy white label original, I spin lots of Monk these days.
  9. Well done, I did the same for my discogs items.
  10. Over here there are billions of funny meme on whatsup and facebook, we didn't lost our sense of humor yet.
  11. Some more considerations and numbers from the southern front. The death toll may be very very different if you consider different methods of categorizing. In Italy all the deceased people are filed under covid even if they had some previous diseas, but unfortunately there is no agreement or specific protocol worldwide, so in some countries they may not consider covid the main cause of death, likewise when a pneumonia is the fatal consequence of previous diseases, the cause of death is the primary diseases Deceased: 2978. 0,8% without previous diseases, 25,1% one previous disease, 25,6% two previous diseases, 48,5% three or more previous diseases. Median age of deceased: 80,5 y/o, male 70%, female 30%. Only 17 deceased under 50 y/o, all with previous diseases. 14.363 hospitalized. Due to the exceptional number of hospitalized, italian health system is running low of supplies. Economic consequences a part, Europe is a unique economic region with a high grade of interconnection, closing down the borders to goods may result in collapse of production and availabilty of primary goods like foods and medicine in all the continent, for example Poland produce a lot of food but no medicine or medical devices. More the production of complex goods like medical devices requires components produced abroad, even spare parts for ambulance are produced abroad. So selfishness is the worst and most miopic choice in this scenario.
  12. The problem about this virus is NUMBERS. The main contagious in Italy is in Lombardia, the top notch Health Care System in the country, same, or even better, quality and quantity of Sweden or Switzerland or whatever you like, California? At this very moment almost ten per cent of medics and people working in Health Care are positive to covid, the army are moving death people in close regions because Lombardia hasn't got enough facilities to cremate them. It's true that we are talking mostly about old people, but what about if the system collapses? Car accidents, post surgery, lots of pathologies requires intensive care. Bad really bad when medics have to decide who treat and who don't, that means who lives who dies. And it’s happening right now
  13. I agree, I am just saying it’s not easy especially if you’re a single. When your city has been closed down for a couple of weeks we’ll talk again. When you can’t visit friends or relatives or sons or daughters, no sports, parks closed, out only for food and medicine. No offense but you don’t know as I didn’t until now. Say that I stay cool, spinning records , cooking and draining my cellar. Btw a couple of weeks will not be enough experts say a couple of months at least
  14. Thanks, absolutely correct in depicting the situation, just like a field hospital in war.
  15. The biggest problem over here it’s the health system This virus causes a pneumonia that requires ventilator and intensive care, don’t get fooled about the death toll: a fair number of people under 60 y/o need it to recover. Second biggest problem is the medical staff: more exposed to virus. So this virus if underestimated can cause the collapse of health system. Nobody wants medics having to decide daily who treat who don’t because there’s a lack of resources, and I would add all other diseases that require IC not only Covid. The task force of the government is formed with the best experts we have. Though I have been very critic about this government, in this case I think they are doing well.
  16. The PM just announced that Italy is closed down for two weeks: only pharmacies grocery stores supermarkets public offices and postal services open. Basically we can go out for buying food and medicines. Working is permitted with safety restrictions.
  17. The most disturbing thing is to keep a physical distance from other people: no shaking hand, no hugs, no kiss, because you can be dangerous to others or others can be dangerous for you. I mean when I meet a friend or even I am introduced to a stranger I usually touch him/her. Dreadful situation.
  18. Thanks Chuck I’ll do my best
  19. In Italy the situation isn’t fun. Basically there’s a curfew after six pm: restaurants and bar closed, you have to show to authority a valid reason to be out. No sports events, museums and gyms closed, concerts and exhibitions cancelled. Even funerals and weddings have to respect strict rules. You can’t travel unless for specific working reasons. Intensive care places in hospitals are overcrowded. Not fun at all.
  20. Japan pressing. I have a huge sweet spot for solo Monk, and Monk's Mood with Trane is best cherry on the cake.
  21. Yep, nice mono sound.
