  1. At least nostalgia for vinyl and cassettes is safer then the one for sixties’ cars.
  2. Taking care of my analog equipment is a pleasure for me, few tips and it's done. Cooking or gardening is much more complicated and time consuming IMO.
  3. With this box set was love at first sight and still going strong in my routine listening
  4. cactus needle From cassette to files: the Waterloo of the Record Companies' war against private copy. When I taped records 45 years ago it was a matter of money, I borrowed records from friend, BUT my ambition was to have these records as I did often when got enough money. Back then a taped record from a cheap TT to a cheap cassette deck was anything but a "hifi" experience. The funny thing is that now most of the people that can have for free a perfect copy of a record don't give a damn about the sound quality.
  5. WOW! Thanks!
  6. I was sure I had a japan pressing of it, right now I discovered I don't.
  7. My choice too, Ella and Mad.
  8. Shipping myself to Tokyo is way much more expensive then the opposite.
  9. I usually buy three or four used records from the same seller in order to reduce shipping cost per record.
  10. Lately I bought few records from discogs japanese sellers, usually they are fine, no bad suprise.
  11. Yep, I do not have any knowledge about NY jazz scene or Jazz school, BUT I came to the same conclusions when I saw the film back then: it's a brilliantly acted and directed sport movie with drums in place of ball. What I didn't like is exactly what dislikes the author of the review: jazz is a decoration, a misplaced one IMO. I mean I could set Richard III as a mobs movie because both Shakespeare and mafia are about struggle for power, revenge, betrayal, family, violence. Backlash lacks a true relationship between the plot and the music.
  12. Don't know this one, but I really loved the other Klemperer/Bruckner I listened to.
  13. I have to spin BIPLH one of these days, I have a nice original pressing of that.
  14. Yes, Inside Out is my least favored, Solid Air would be my choice if I'd keep only a Martyn's record.

    Frank Zappa

I was a Zappafanatic for ages, I think I bought all the different mix that was around of his recordings. BUT this relentless reissues mania knocked me down. I rised my white flag ten years ago and I will not look back.
  16. Talking about cities, the richest market with more profits and less investments, more isolated locations are different animals, I have at least one call everyday, that is an hassle, from companies with combined offers cellphone/internet. Gas and electricity companies too are very aggressive in their search of new customers.
  17. 70$/month? I thought internet was cheaper in US, I pay €30/month for the fiber with phone, and I have €9/month cellphone too
  18. I had one of those in my former honda, but still the noise of the wind over 80 Km/h was very annoying. Usually the engine in modern cars is quite noiseless, (Porsche's and Ferrari's apart), it's the aerodinamic and the soundproofing the problem IMO. Lately a friend lent me his BMW 520 for a week and I enjoyed jazz trios with the onboard music rig. I guess a Lexus or a Tesla should work as well.
  19. What bothered me with music in the car is that unless you have one of those superluxury and supersilent german sedans, doublebass lines are lost forever in the noise of the car and the traffic. When I had a car I used to listen rock music bluetoothed from my phone.
  20. Mayonaise on french fries
