  3. Verve Announces Posthumous Jimmy Heath Album, ‘Love Letter’ Verve recently announced the release of saxophonist Jimmy Heath’s final recording, an album completed just one month prior to his Jan. 19 death at the age of 93. Love Letter, a collection of ballads that spans covers like “Con Alma” and Heath originals, counts contributions by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, pianist Kenny Barron, guitarist Russell Malone, drummer Lewis Nash, as well as vocalists Gregory Porter and Cécile McLorin Salvant. For the album, the bandleader mainly sticks to alto, picking up the soprano saxophone for “Inside Your Heart,” a piece originating in a 2010 suite Heath recorded with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. https://downbeat.com/news/detail/posthumous-jimmy-heath-album-announced?fbclid=IwAR1FLAz6u6EhK1c-BJ7ZlmwMi7SVcZRCmbboCggK9ARhz8qnB40dc21dVZU

  5. One of the all time best. Happy Birthday, Kenny.
  6. He's way under recorded. He did for sometime seem to disappear. So maybe he himself had something to do with it.
  7. He's 92 today. All the best Freddie. I'm listening to his last session right now from 2016, "With Due Respect."
  8. Sad day. He will be missed. A great drummer has been silenced. RIP Jimmy. Thoughts with you and your family.
  9. No. It was on Tony's Facebook page

  18. Wes Montgomery's "Full House". This was around 1976, shortly after I started to play guitar. I was blown away by his playing. I still am 44 years later.
  19. Plus, the quality isn't all that great. Very grainy. The Sonny Rollins concert from B.B. King's has a lot of frames freezing. I though it was my internet, but I watched it additional times with the same issues.
  20. I believe I may have been at this show. I recall seeing the two at the Blue Note in the late 90's.
