  1. I've been enjoying this one a lot recently.
  2. I'm curious to find out what is the earliest recording other have in their collection. I have a CD of "American Negro Songs" from about the turn of the 20th century. Jazz and improvisation was already alive and well around 1900 when most of these tracks were recorded. It just hadn't been branded the name "jazz" at that point. At least to me this is how I perceive these recordings when listening to them. Here is one that I have.
  3. I always enjoyed his playing with Woody Shaw. Happy Birthday.
  4. Yes. Whenever I use my iPhone to type a reply or open up a thread it automatically changes what I write sometimes to what it thinks I meant.
  5. Happy 99th birthday Candido Camero. He still active. That’s great to know.
  6. Happy birthday Slide Hampton. 88 years young today.
  7. The Ray Brown one with Stanley Turrentine was nice.
  8. Wow the man’s been dead 49 years and he still makes an impact in Jazz. Louis Armstrong foundation is offering $1 million in grants to Jazz musicians in the tri-state area this is welcome news for many of the musicians who can’t make a living outside of playing music. Below is the information on the Louis Armstrong foundation website https://louisarmstrongfoundation.org/
  9. Brooklyn Lager. Real nice taste.
  10. This is a nightmare. Too many are being stolen from the world in too short of a period. RIP Mr. Grimes. Hopefully your not charged extra for taking your bass on the flight to the next gig.
  11. RIP. A fine actor.
  12. My Norwegian Forest cat just chillin’
  13. These are not my photos. Lee, Jimmy Cobb and George Coleman have dinner at the Jazz club Smoke in NYC. Three master.
  14. The Cause of death was pneumonia. Rest In Peace, Lee. Thank you for the great music and your sense of humor. Thoughts with you and your family.f death was pneumonia. Rest in peace Lee. Thank you for the great music and your sense of humor. Thoughts with you and your family. I remember one time seeing him live at the village vanguard. He finished his set and announce to the audience he was going to go outside and smoke a joint. If anybody wanted to come outside and join him. “I’ll be by the back door.” Another time at the Vanguard, he played about a 55 minute set and started to walk off the stage. Lorraine Gordon yelled get back up there you owe me 10 more minutes. Lee did, and he played a solo Sweet Lorraine for about 10 minutes. Lorraine then shouted “ OK, I’ll can pay you now.“
  15. R.I.P, Andy.
  16. RIP Mr. Merritt. Thanks for carrying the music.
  17. This was shared on someone's face book page from another Facebook page, which was shared from someone else's page, so forth, so I don't know who originated it. "I just did the math for all the gigs I lost with the from the lock down, and it looks like I actually saved $214."
  18. It was reported on several Facebook pages. I enjoyed the sessions he played on with Woody Shaw.
  19. What a great ball player. RIP Al.
  20. Last summer I bought 4 CD's used at a yard sale by Arthur Prysock. All four are on Verve. Why wouldn't a label such as Verve know who played on the session? You would believe this would be tracked.
  21. Yeah. Also both did recordings in the 70’s and 80’s on Pablo records and jazz festivals at Montreux where they both appeared. .
  22. I don't believe so. I've collected everything recording by Joe Pass, as least I think I have, and I don't have anything with Sonny Stitt.
