88 and still playing strong. I saw Mr. Pizzarelli in December 2011. You could tell he loves playing music. Bucky was smiling and joking with the audience. He played a 7 string guitar. As you said Jim, "Continued good music and good health for Mr. Pizzarelli."
#1 correct all the way around. With Ralph Peterson and Santi Debriano. Some might recognize the tune from Woody Shaw's performances.
#2 is Luqman -- I'm glad he's recognized -- but this performance is from a different recording that perhaps not many people have.
I heard the one I mentioned.
#1. Walter Davis JR. "400 Years Ago Tomorrow" from the album "Scorpio Rising." #2. Luqman Hamza singing from the album "When a Smile Overtakes a Frown."
Next Christmas Eve, Woody Shaw III will release a film about his father. I have to say I am really looking forward to this. If you would like to see a preview, you can ask on the Woody Show website.
Anyone else excited?
I mentioned this a few months back in another thread that J&R was down to only two rows of jazz. When I asked where the jazz music was, the worker said that's it.
