  1. This is all you need to get around the city. http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm
  2. Just stay away from those double decker tour buses. They steel your money and are not that safe.
  3. On Saturday May First Jimmy Heath will be conducting a class at the Blue Note. It's at 2PM.
  4. Juinor Cook and Blue Mitchell
  5. Wayne is still on the top of his game. Should be a great show.
  6. Adam, maybe you can ask Horace is he would like to join this board. Seriously, I would really enjoy having one of the GIANTS chatting with us. He could tell us stories. Isn't Horace one of the last jazz musicians from that great photo, “One day in Harlem”? I think Sonny Rollins and Marian McPartland are the other two.
  7. Thanks for the info. I was just repeating what a guitar maker at the guitar show said. He made one of a kind arch top guitars starting at 4500 and up. Couldn't play any, all right handed.
  8. It's the wood. Brazilian rosewood is the best. But there isn't enough of these adult trees around to make guitars with. I was told this recently. I had gone to a guitar show in NY. Brazilian rosewood makes for the best tone.
  9. Adam, did Horace mention anything about his new album? It's supposed to come out this month from what I read.
  10. He's on the NRA forum.
  11. How do you sign up to pick the album of the week?
  12. Wow, a real celebrity on the board. I've seen most... well some of your movies. I especially like the one with the chimp. What was that one called? When someone gets banned, he should be able to still post, but be forced to have "I'm Banned" stuck to im. It will be sort of like the scarlet letter.
  13. I wonder what it was that got Diz fired?
  14. Here's all the jazz greats playing in NYC in April Sam Rivers- April Freddie Hubbard- April Curtis Fuller- April McCoy Tyner- April Horace Silver- April Roy Haynes- April Jim Hall- April George Coleman- April Benny Golson- April Ray Baretto- April Dr. Lonnie Smith- April
  15. I knew this subject could not have gone this long without it be touched upon before.
  16. Is this true? I'll have to find some CD's to buy regardless wheaher I want them or not.
  17. Now through April 15, 25% off Blue Note CD's. Free shipping with any order over $20. Not bad. I placed an order last week. If only I would have known.
  18. Is this the place you're thinking of? http://www.southpaw.net/ Thanks AfricaBrass. That's the place.
  19. Any of the other guitar players here play any guitars with floating bridges? This use to be a problem for me. Whenever I would change strings, the bridge would slip and I would need to calibrate the bastard.
  20. Of all the arch top guitars I ever owned, my Guold X-500 had the most beautiful sound. I sold it 10 years ago when I hung up player for a living. Mine was blonde. If you're ever in the market for a arch top, this is the one to get.
  21. There's a guitar store in George or Tennessee I believe that just sells left handed guitars. Does anyone know the name of that place?
  22. Thanks for the info Dan. BTW, good look with your new home.
  23. Doesn’t former Gibson employee’s make Heritage guitars? Heritage has some nice sounding arch top guitars. And for myself, being a lefty, they make more then just one left-handed model. What about Ibanez guitars? Joe Pass played them, and so does George Benson. Is there anyone on this board playing on an Ibanez arch top guitar?
  24. Does anyone know if he is still performing, or has he hung up the sax?
