  1. Pokka dots and Moonbeams always remind me of Bud Powell’s version.
  2. "The Girl from Ipamena" always reminds me of the Stan Getz's version.
  3. Which standards do you identify with a particular artist? Whenever I hear All the things you are or play it in my head, I right away think of Bird. Autumn Leaves I think and hear of Cannonball and Miles.
  4. Are any of his recordings on his label Silveto available today? I know that Rockin' With Rachmaninoff was issued and was recorded back in the 80's when he was on his own label. I'm trying to find "Music to Ease Your Disease".
  5. I have to add Joe Goldberg to the top of my list. Good notes on Mobley's Soul Station and Coltrane's Lush Life.
  6. I got out of the deal. In the listing the shipping charges were in the description section and not the shipping area. I contacted eBay via email and they replied once a bid is made the price and shipping can’t be changed. But you can change the description part. I emailed the seller and asked him what the deal was about changing the shipping cost. He let me out with no problems.
  7. Are there any new exciting guitar playes out there play jazz?
  8. Carl, I see Here we come on dustygrooves web site. Maybe it only arrived recently, but it's there now. Bottoms up is also a great record.
  9. Does your avatar say something about yourself?
  10. Wow, I thought I only did this. I use to go to tower records on 66 street and Bbroadway for lunch about 6 or 7 years ago. It got to a point where all the clerks in the jazz section new my name and what I usually bought. One time when I walked in, one of the clerks came up to me with 2 CDs in his hand and said, "I pulled these aside for you when they came in today. I know you're going to want them". That's when I realized I spent too much time buying CD's.
  11. Step 1: Admit you buy too many CD's. never step 2 : step 3 : step 4: step 5: step 6: step 7: step 8: step 9: step 10: step 11: step 12: How can you tell if you but too many CD's and records? I've only bought 7 for the month of March. And yes, March has 31 days making it one of the longer months. Now February I just bought 4. Not a problem in my opinion.
  12. Where a new reissue of a CD comes out, do you upgrade to it, or do you stick with what you have? I have done this with Duke Pearson's the Sweet Honey Bee, and I like the sound better then the rare grooves release of the session. I'm debateing wheather to do this with Grant Greens Green Street. I heard it sound so much better then the Conn.
  13. I did receive a bid that the seller had made a change to the item. This was how I found out.
  14. I place a bit on an item and I am the high bidder still with 1 day to go. The seller went and changed the shipping charges after I had placed my bid. It was $4.50 to mail one record. Now he has it at $10. Is this allowed on ebay? I should have the option then to reject my bid.
  15. Would it be a good idea to have her play more then one instrument at this early age? It's going to be piano. I did find a private teacher that works with all ages.
  16. Then it must have been the late 80's when I saw him and not the 90's.
  17. He had a nice sound on the trumpet, then one day he was no longer on the scene. I don’t want to speculate, but did he have a drinking or drug habit? Could this have been the reason? I once saw him playing on a street corner in Manhattan in the early 90's and often wondered what went wrong. I didn't have the heart to go up and speak with him. I did through 2 bucks in the bucket he and the other musicians were using for collections.
  18. Would anyone know where I could fine these for sale? I've been copying my old LP's to CDR's and want to store them in the cardboard sleeves. Plastic cases would end up costing me too much and they would take up too much room.

  20. It reminds me of this product. A friend did part of his masters thesis on this. http://members.aol.com/bumperdmpr/bumper.htm
  21. Damn she peed for a long time. Must have been drinking beer.
  22. She wants the piano, so that's what it will be. Now are there teachers that will be willing to teach them at this age? There is a music school 2 blooks from me. I went in there, and he said he doesn't take any new students unless they are over 7.
  23. If a Jazz Hall of Fame doesn't exist. I will start one somehow. I'll write all my local politicians. We spend money on so many other shit in government.
  24. My choice is bias, since I'm from NYC. But that's my choice. Bop got its start here as well as so many artists.
