  1. I long for the good old days when people walking down the street talking to themselves were schizophrenic. Now they're probably just talking to someone on a cell phone.
  2. The discography doesn't mention the producers. (It does list the other musicians, though.)
  3. Yes, you should. Carla could be mentioned in the quote discussion we were having. Lots of quotes on side two of European Tour - the side long "Spangled Banner Minor And Other Patriotic Songs". Of course hers are composed into the tune...
  4. I assume that you know that Mutable Music issued a CD of the Revolutionary Ensemble's 1975 recording, The Psyche, earlier this year?
  5. Invent a device that will turn off cell phones and I'll be a happy man!
  6. I think I saw her group on tour around the time of "Social Studies." When's the last time she toured in the U.S.? * sigh *
  7. Two tracks were issued on European Blue Note CD compilations! "I Wish I Knew" was released on "Misty Blue" (CD BN 5-21151-2) and "Until It's Time For You To Go" was released on "Deep Blue" (CD BN 5-21152-2). Other titles remain unreleased according to BN discog.
  8. Yeah, that's an excellent interview. There's a lot of what of what he says about musical practice that could be seen as metaphors on creativity. (I think I should give a copy to a friend of mine who's a painter/painting teacher.)
  9. Especially since Clapton had a massive booze problem! I suppose it wasn't a good idea for him to accept payment in cases of beer instead of in cash?
  10. I'm tempted to have the link go to the Miles box!

This is teh same lineup as on Live at Nefertiti, on Ayler, which I really enjoy. I'm glad to hear it is worth listening to. Have you heard the disc on Ayler and are you able to compare the two? No, I haven't heard the one on Ayler! Hopefully, someone will have listened to both in a bit...
  12. Sure it wasn't wood? Maybe a tarogato?

Speaking of Brotz, this one's excellent and out in only two days: Peter Brötzmann - Medicina (Atavistic 149) Oct 19 -- 2003 trio studio recording of Peter Brotzmann (alto & tenor saxes, tarogato, a-cl), Peter Friis Nielsen (el-bass), Peeter Uuskyla (drums); recorded in Sweden
  14. Congrats! I like the drummer quote. (I spent last night's listening time on "Dance with Death," mostly listening to Bily Higgins -- he seemed to have no lack for ideas on that one...!)
  15. ...and I'll throw out another vote for "Funk Dumpling."
  16. To throw out another name, I've heard some nice playing from Marty Ehrlich...

  18. $97.98 at CD Universe. A review can be found here.
  19. So, whatever happened to "Live at the Half Note"?
  20. I'm currently collecting mostly cats, dust, and troubles.
  21. I've liked Lord Dunsany's writings as well. (As a matter of fact, I once worked for Owslwick Press, which published illustrated editions of a couple of his works.)
  22. I think the great page inflation ocurred just as my interest was winding down. Writers were more concise when they had to use typewriters!
  23. When I was younger I've collected such things as stamps, coins, comic books and science fiction. I'd like to sell a bunch of my comic books, but haven't had the time. My enthusiasm for SF faded a bit after I'd worked as an asst. editor at an SF magazine for a couple years -- I read too much bad SF on the slush pile. The only SF author I've read lately is Jack Vance. (I'd like to reread some P.K. Dick sometime; hope it still stands up.)
