Niners just got thumped last night. Geez.

I realize you have never been big on details. You said he pitched a few games went on IR and not DL and that he never pitched again. He did pitch again. In fact he pitched four more times in 2009 and was 2-2http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/schmija01.shtml
-
As long as the Yankees are a non-factor, I'm a happy guy.
-
Jason Schmidt, [after pitching 3 games in early April, going on the DL then pitching 3 more games in early June then missing the rest of the 2007 season and all of 2008 and placed on the IR list] pitched 4 mediocre games spanning his quasi-return in late July and exit in early August. 10 games, 10 starts, a 4-6 record, in three years' time with three stints on the DL/IR list spanning nearly two years. He was done and did little to help his new team after the move. Hence, my point about trading Dickey. http://www.baseball-...1&t=p&year=2007 http://www.baseball-...1&t=p&year=2009 And the problem here is what again...?
-
I wonder who's going to take on "Tebow time"? More of a distraction than a help, IMHO.
-
That's why they traded Josh Thole to the Jays as well. However, R.A. Is not your typical knuckleballer. He has excellent control and also throws a fastball. More than other pitchers, he has mastered the knuckler. No doubt. I hear even his knuckler comes in at 90 mph
-
Little slow there, Mike. This was resolved more than a week ago. Try to keep up, OK?

BTW...Niners win the Super Bowl that should have been: Niners 41 Pats 34 And all is right with the world The thing that bothered me most about the media coverage is they seemed to be more worried Eagles players might be juicing than dealing this guy's death from a heroin overdose and his father's grief.

Good point. I remember being plenty ticked off when the Giants traded Jason Schmidt. He was one of my favorite Giants at the time. But, after starting a few games for the [hated] Dodgers, he went on the IR list and never pitched again. So, I certainly see how Mets fans would be angry, but there again, maybe they figured to get something for Dickey before he was totally spent. I dunno.

Oh yeah, now the Lakers' salvation is to be found in a 49 year-old point guard. Good times at Showtime! Um...he's 38. The same yapping idiots that wanted Hamilton gone in the first place (i.e. the local sports media) have been going on and on about this powerful Angels lineup that now features Hamilton and Pujols. Seems I recall Pujols had a disastrous year last year, pretty much singlehandedly kept the Angels outta the playoffs, if memory serves. These same chuckleheads claimed that Hamilton will thrive because he's going to be "surrounded by stars." Uh huh. Because that's ALWAYS a good idea. Clearly, brains are not required to work in sports media.... I wish nothing but the best for Hamilton, because he was a HUGE part of the Rangers getting to their first and second World Series, playoff wins, etc etc etc. I realize sports is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately game, but if anyone around here has the gall to boo Hamilton when he returns, then I hope they choke on their Superdog. Not saying I wish he'd re-signed with the Rangers, but he sure as hell deserved a more graceful exit. Furthermore, coming home empty-handed is a helluva lot smarter than blowing money just because the sports hounds say you need to make a big splash at the winter meetings. So many times the "big splash" has come back to bite the Rangers in the ass, a lot more times than I wish to remember! Seriously, the way the Angels are spending money to lose, you'd think Tom Hicks & John Hart had taken over the franchise. I genuinely feel bad for Angels fans. I dunno. It could work yo the Angels' advantage, too. Theoretically, the team has two big bats in the line-up. If both Hamilton and Puljols have great years, the Angels will be a tough out for the always competitive AL West. I just don't think two prima donnas (Pujols & Hamilton) in the same clubhouse has ever worked outside of the Yankees, and I don't think Mike Scioscia is up to the challenge of managing this particular set of players. Scioscia is best when you have a bunch of overachieving players, who fight hard for each win, but when it comes to top-notch talent, he's not so good. I predict he will lose the clubhouse, and will be gone by the All-Star break. The Great Carnac Has Spoken! PS: 39, 49, 79, it doesn't matter, Nash is old and washed up, he'll be terrible with the Lakers! Mark it! Good Heavens, I'm on a roll tonight! We'll see. Dickey has struggled in the past other than having this one sterling year. He certainly deserved the Cy young, but maybe the Mets know something we don't...

Jerry Buss brought the Lakers 11 championships. I don't see that as a liability, TBH. Yankees still have the largest payroll in the league. As to the BoSox, Angels and Tigers they are going about this fairly moderately. The Dodgers, OTOH, are clearly trying to buy their way into the WS.

Wait'll Nash comes back...it's a loooong season.

Happy Birthday to my favorite Texas Rangers fan!

Even with the Dodgers in shambles, the Angels have never had a chance of taking over LA baseball, there is zero interest in the Angels outside of Orange County. On this signing: Well, good luck with Pujols and Hamilton in the same clubhouse, that is a terrible mix, and besides, the LA area is the last place Hamilton needs to be with his history. This has disaster written all over it. My brother [who still lives down there] told me that when the new ownership changed the name [yet again] to Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem that was the thinking: To gain a market share of the LA fan base. Didn't work. But the team has no trouble putting fans in the seats from OC, East LA County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County. The Dodgers, OTOH, couldn't fill the stadium if they were giving away free tickets. LA is a Lakers town now.
-
The OC is a far different world from LA. Trust me on this. That and Angel Stadium is an hour's drive from Chavez Ravine. Depending on traffic on the I-5.
-
I rather see Belinda Carlisle get better. Sorry. Dodger hater since birth. Is that a good thing?
-
I doubt that will happen. They have built a strong and loyal following. More people fill the seats in Anaheim than in LA.
-
True dat. But think The Team Formally Known as the Dodgers are only interested in short term gain [buying the World Series] in order to pay back the mortgage in one year.
-
I won't swear by it, but I think the Yankees West [The Team Formally Known as the Dodgers] might be interested in Hamilton, too.
-
The Giants didn't trade Jacobs. He was a free agent and the 49ers signed him for $1.6 mil. Thanks for the correction. Bottom line is the Giants didn't want him enough to pay out that much. He's still a punk.
-
Brandon Jacobs punks out on the Niners then declares the only team he will play for in the NY Giants...the team which traded his sorry, mouthy ass: http://msn.foxsports...comments-121012 If the NFL has any moral scruples left, they'll uphold the suspension and keep Jacobs from playing again until 2013. Wow.

Niners get past the Fish. Now, for the big test vs the Pats and in New England.
