  1. OK. Tim McCarver is just in annoying dickhead overdrive tonight. "Verlander doesn't want to end the WS with a loss." Gee. Ya think so? Name a player who does. "The Giants are on the verge of winning the WS." Wow! Genius! Then there is the 24-7-365 replay of Posey tagging Fielder out at the plate. A dozen references to the Tigers not hitting. Meaningless statistics about no team has ever won while wearing white socks on a Tuesday. GEEZ. Stop it already.
  2. SI didn't write that. It's a Tweet that somebody posted, and SI put it in their magazine as their Tweet of the Week. They still published it. Not a whole lot of difference, IMHO. If it wasn't for this board, I would assume no one did. I've never met anyone who had any interest in professional cycling, except here. Well, this whole thing has certainly sucked out any interest I once had for the sport. Not really sure what has been accomplished here beyond settling old scores.
  3. And the way that it always is! (except when it's not...) I'm not ready to declare dominance over anything until the last dog dies. It ain't over yet; Detroit is throwing Scherzer against Cain tonight. It will be a tough game for both teams. GO Giants!!!
  4. In many (maybe most) states if the key is in the ignition (whether the engine is running) they'll get you for it. Once in a great while someone drunk gets into a car, puts the keys in the ignition but thinks the better of it and sleeps it off in the car. Because the keys are in the ignition and not in the pocket it can mean a headache if an officer finds the person this way. I don't know the details but I imagine the investigation was led by what condition he was in when he drove to the cornfield. Assuming that he did drive himself there, yes. There is no proof to that effect. He was asleep and stopped....and in a cornfield. Not many cars in a cornfield. DUI is a driving violation. Corn is an agricultural product. I'm not seeing a connection. Thank God in my state, you actually have to be driving to get arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Hence, the term. I think at most he should have been arrested for public intoxication, but there again, that is assuming corn can be considered "public". Was it his own cornfield? Might have made a difference. Good point. Otherwise, assuming he didn't drive himself there, Mr. Fisk sure would have a bone to pick with whoever drove him into a field, pushed him into the drivers seat and left him there to sleep it off while said driver had a nice walk through the corn back home. Maybe Mr. FIsk and his friends enjoy pulling pranks on each other. Though of course there's no proof of that. There is no proof of driving. That is the key point. The rest is pure conjecture. If we are OK with popping people based on assumption, then what's next? Put a guy in jail because he lives on the same street the criminal does and simply upon the basis we can assume he had something to do with his criminal behavior because he knew the guy? C'mon.
  5. On to Game 4:
  6. Cheap shot. I though SI was above that sort of thing.
  7. On to Game 3:
  8. The Mad Bum on the mound tonight vs Fister. Maybe the Giants can keep it going...we'll see. I am certain Fox's Eric "Dodger Boy" Karros will be picking the Giants to lose....again. GO Giants!!!

  10. On to Game 2: Back-to-Back-to-Back jack!
  11. If you build it, they will drink it? How in the world can a guy get popped for a DUI if he's parked and asleep? I mean, doesn't the "D" in DUI stand for "Driving"?
  12. TBH, the Ozzie Guilen firing doesn't surprise me. After he made that idiot Castro comment, I knew his days were numbered. I've always thought his last name was Guillen Oh my God...really? Heaven's forbid we should misspell the idiot's name.
  13. They've already been banned or lost their "victories", for the most part. Armstrong, as the "big fish" had the resources/power to evade for a longer time. But the many, many riders already "outed" from that period is why it's so tough to find successors to the now-stripped Armstrong. I also believe, personally, that Armstrong's celebrity made him harder to fully prosecute - another reason he stood for so long. To be fair, it also made him a bigger target. Add in the fact that Armstrong worked for the United States almost-Government(Postal Service)... Full Disclosure: Yes, I have a personal thing against Armstrong. He's an a**hole. He made me and all U.S. riders look like shameful, disrespectful cretins. Since he controlled "the microphone", we were unable to defend ourselves. Well put, BeBop. You would know better than I would. All I'm sayin is if UCI and USADA want to put an end to PEDs it can't begin and end with Armstrong.

  15. I patiently await the banning of all the other cyclists who doped during that same time period. Clearly, this is just another case of only going after the big fish which will do nothing to curb PEDs in the sport. It will, however, make the cyclists just go deeper underground with it. It is about as legit a solution to the bigger problem as that French cycling gossip sheet Le Equipe is to real journalism.
  16. I was thinking at the time, if you could sum up the essence of Hunter Pence in one hit, that would be it. Hey, what works is good, right?
