  1. Agreed! Speaking of the Tournament, it occurred to me today that for the first time the headlines that I saw this week said, "Tigers win ALCS" rather than "Tigers win pennant". One more shoveling of the collective sub-conscious into the notion that you're only really a "winner" if you finish all the way on top. A lot of that going around these days, and there's only one way it ends up...beware, brother, beware. Yankees fans need to take a lesson here. Meanwhile, my Gigantes play tomorrow for a chance to play again on Monday. Win or lose, this has been a terrific season. GO Giants!!!!
  2. I don't understand it either, but we'll take it. What interests me is how the media harps on Lynn's error. You know, there was a fair amount of hitting going on, too. Oh, well. The Eastern media guys just can't stand to see the Giants win. On to San Francisco. One game at a time.
  3. yankee fans on new york talk radio are near suicidal, blaming everyone in sight and wanting to get rid of them.  Bunch of spoiled whiners. Win the WS or you're nothing to them. Wow. may i extend precondolences, goody? last evening, the gigantes looked nearly as inept as this years feeble incarnation of the legendary pinstripers. You won't get an argument from me. Go hard or go home time. Yeah, the Giants looked like a beat team last night, no spark at all. It will be interesting to see what Lincecum does in the off season, he is notorious for going his on way in terms of conditioning, his pitching mechanics, etc. It's clear he needs to bulk up, and get a new approach -- whether he does that or not might tell the tale of a athlete on the downside of a great career. I agree. He's not been the Lincecum of the Cy Young years since the last couple months of the 2011 season. He's hanging everything and his velocity is way down. Maybe if he quit smoking the happy plant he'd get it back. Who knows.
  4. I dunno. The Blue Note compilation is pretty good, IMHO.

  6. Barry Zito on the mound. Ugh. Unless there is a small miracle, the Giants' season is over tonight. yankee fans on new york talk radio are near suicidal, blaming everyone in sight and wanting to get rid of them.  Bunch of spoiled whiners. 7. And BTW, Mister Stats: Hunter Spence, HR in the 2nd. You were saying...?
  8. Oh? Make that 0-4, bay-bee! SNAP!
  9. Pence has scored one run on five hits. Yankees...zero wins in the playoffs. May the Yank Spank continue.
  10. Pence....the whole story: You have to win in the regular season first. He has one RBI/Run and 5 hits in the playoffs.
  11. Now hold on there just a minute, Matthew. Yesterday Pence was the goat and he admits it. However, he has been fairly productive up until Game 3 and in the regular season which got the Giants the NL West and past the ALDS. Cain was the problem last night. Giving up that tater to a bench warmer in Carpenter is what killed the Giants last night.
  12. Lemme see... Holliday is 6'4" and 235; full of muscle. Scutaro is 5'10" and 185; small frame. Oh that's fair
  13. No kazoos, banjos or air guitar. No accordions, either. Just sayin'.
  14. I quote the fans in LF after Holliday's pointlessly violent slide [ala Cousins vs. Posey]: "What's the matter with Holl-iday? HE'S A BUM!!!"
  15. 7-1, Giants. On to St. Louis.
  16. When did they do that? My bad. My ears were full of the Yankees this and the Yankees that from the TV in the other room when I typed my post. I have since corrected my error I need to get that for next season. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver just plain make me ill. Why Fox can't hire Kruk and Kuip to do the game(s) is beyond me.
  17. Quite the strange sight a large empty section of the left field upper deck at the SF/Cards game tonight.... According to StubHub there are 5,442 tickets available for tonights game. Upper deck, left field going for $84.99 to $195.00. Field level behind the Giants dugout: $425.00 to $985.00. I'd stay home and watch it on tv. The only tickets I saw were for SRO @ $140 bucks a pop. What I don't understand is why Bochy didn't go get him until the game was 6-0. That four spot the Giants put up in the 4th show they still got some offense going; chased Lynn, too. This one isn't over by a long shot.
  18. The Mad Bum on the mound tonight vs Lance Lynn. MLB Tonight goes on about Lynn's Tommy John surgery but those Eastern guys just can't give it to the Giants. Their prediction: Cards will dominate. OK. I'm not saying the Giants are going to win, but do you think the sporting media could at least ONCE pick the Giants? Geez. I've been hearing this stuff all season about how the Giants can't get it done...even after sweeping the Reds at home to win the NLCS. Just once I'd like to rub the media's smug little noses in it the next time the Giants win after they write them off...again. Wow.
  19. Niners...didn't.
  20. Now that the Cards have made it to thw NLCS, may I assume you guys will be rooting for the Giants? What Chuck said.
  21. I've seen these numbers quoted, can't vouch for their accuracy though. 2013: $28M (age 37) 2014: $25M (38) 2015: $21M (39) 2016: $20M (40) 2017: $20M (41) That's what you get when you try to buy the WS every year. Go Tigers!
  22. Baseball and the debate. Just toggled back and forth.
  23. I musta missed all the drama over A-Rod [besisdes the Trump phone call]...what is the problem with him playing?
