Giants are tanking again....to the Rockies? Ugh.

An update: Now that certain internet characters have completely taken over and dominated the forums at JazzCorner, they have been spending their time lately denigrating me and justifying their complete lack of civility and collective posting responsibility [this on the heals of a gang cluster fuck and at the behest of the least circumspect posters on any BBS] with thread after post after baiting response in a clear effort to justify their own boorish behavior. If I were any of you, I wouldn't post on that "it's all about me and if you have the gall to disagree, we'll come after your ass" BBS at gun point. JazzCorner used to be a great place of Jazz and non-Jazz discussion. Now, it is just a good ol' boy toilet. To survive, you have to know three things: What to kiss, whose to kiss and when to kiss it. To do otherwise will bring a self-involved insult fest down on your head replete with personal attacks from the pumped-up egos who run anyone off they personally disagree with...then they'll blame you. Organissimo, OTOH, is an oasis of clear-headed discussion and moderators with a wonderful sense of calm and discussion etiquette. I have a tremendous amount of respect for those who keep this place under control. Personal responsibility is dead at JazzCorner. Avoid it at all cost. Suck-ups, however, are more than welcome.

And if they don't...?

I hope it's a great day, Larry! Happy B-Day

Gah! Armando Benitez' name gives me nightmares. Now, you know how we feel. It's Deja Vu all over again! I feel your pain, Brad.

Care to make it interesting? Nah. Sucker's bet. Lakers are too spotty to bet on this season. I'd pay to see that one. Eight days rest vs. one day rest. OKC was fresh, LA was flat. I think this series goes to six. That is no excuse. Every team has the option of closing out their series early and getting extra rest. The Lakers failed to do that. And in a way, they had the advantage of being "sharp" but they weren't that either. So what else is new??? OKC is just a better team this year. I don't disagree. OKC is a much better team...except in the 4th quarter. But to say a seven game stretch doesn't take it out of you vs a team with fresh legs may be over stating it just a tad. Just sayin'.

That hurts just thinking about it...yeow!

It's hard work being a Giants fan right now.

I dunno. Denver had a mediocre season topped off by a just-glad-to-be-here playoff appearance. The Lakers are notorious for having down games against less than stellar teams. If they would have tried, the Nuggets would have been gone in four. Presumably the Lakers tried in Game 7 and yet they still blew a 16-point lead in the third quarter, with the Nuggets going up 4 with about 8 minutes left. Despite Gasol having a monster game and Gallinari getting completely shut down by Artest, they threatened to take it until the last 3-4 minutes or so. Karl's strategy of relentlessly doubling Kobe almost worked. In two years Ty Lawson is going to be a monster. True, but you have to remember for the first six games they were playing one man short...and still beat the Nuggets. Maybe. But if Kobe gets hot, it may be a different story.

FWIW... I drink coffee, too...but it is a diuretic. The water hydrates your body where coffee causes you to pee it out. As often as I can, I drink 5-7 pints of H2O a day, but I think I'll give Dan's suggestion a try: One glass to start the day. My metabolism came to a high-speed screeching stop in my 30s. So, it's worth a try. Oh, and diet soda or sodas of any kind are the worst. The sodium content and the sweetness causes you to hold water in fat cells and makes you crave sweets. I quit that stuff and lost weight. Carbs and wine are my nemesis. -
Well, looks like the Dodgers' Kershaw is human after all: Giants win 2-1 with Vogelsong on the mound. But where are all the Dodger fans...? Place was half empty; same on Monday. If this series was in SF, there would be standing room only. Wow.

I think we had this same conversation about Phillies fans last season. "Philadelphia sports fans are often described as an invading army, troublemaking hooligans or a projectile-hurling menace to civility in the stands." Guess I wasn't that far off, was I. Hm.

Mota out for 100 games: 2nd positive drug test.

Sadly, I have to agree with you, JetMan. It's all about the money anymore.

Giants win an extra inning squeaker vs the Brewers yesterday. Castilla is no closer, that's for sure...but Romo looked real sharp.

Indeed! He keeps good company. A few I found include (these were the first names that popped in my head and then I stopped): Age 41 - Teddy Ballgame 2 HR, 6 RBI Age 41 - Stan Musial 3 HR, 4 RBI (as w/ Williams' last season, Stan's 1962 is one of the great "old man" seasons) Age 40 - Edgarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Martinez 2 HR, 5 RBI Age 41 - Dave Winfield 1 HR, 5 RBI (so nice he did it twice) Um...and one of GoodSpeak's favorites who is just a little bit controversial so I won't write his name, knocked in 6 at age 42. You mean the GREAT HR King Barry Bonds....? I like it

Anyone else think this woman is extremely unfunny?

I get very upset when people like this find success in life instead of just going away to suffer in silence. Fucking worthless pieces of shit, they are. They do not deserve to live, much less make money. On the other hand, good for her! She'll not get any of my interest or money, but I've had a life just fine without her presence, and can continue to do so. So, win-win. Exactly, Jim. I never even heard of this Jenny Lawson until this thread...no kidding. -
Whatever, Dude. Maybe you think crying and hurt children are funny. I, however, do not. Do you have kids? Have a nice day. No doubt. My kids, when they were little, were scratched by our cats as well. Putting that stuff on YouTube as some sort of "humorous" event is just plain wrong, IMHO. Bad parenting to say the very least.
