  1. Go Cards! Go Tampa!
  2. Why doesn't that surprise me...? 92. And I, for one, will miss his work on 60 Minutes very much.
  3. With all due respect for everyone's particular favorite team....I'm holding out hope for a Brew-ha's vs Tigers WS. That would be fun to watch, IMHO.
  4. I was with you until the last three sentences, Jon. We're all "foreigners" or interlopers on Native American soil. And where I realize you can't unscramble eggs, so-to-speak, everyone of us have ancestries which come from another part of the world. Well put, otherwise. I completely agree with you.
  5. Dear Jed York, Dump Alex Smith. He sucks. He will always suck. Thank you.
  6. Kobe is not going to risk an $83.7 million contract for $700,000 a game. Something happens to him, the Lakers will cut him loose faster than a speeding bullet (or something). Another point: the numbers are indeed totally insane. But they are only a reflection of the decayed culture in which we live, where sports and celebrity are the obsession of most of the public. Just a guess, but I would not be surprised that people who would not pay an extra $100 a year for their local schools think nothing of paying out $300 for basketball or hockey or football seats on a regular basis. Bread and circuses. Exactly.
  7. Congrats, James!
  8. Kobe will make more staying in LA. He still has three years left on his $83.7 million dollar contract with the Lakers. Then there are the endorsements. $700,000 is chump change.
  9. Is it safe to come back yet? I'm not going to say anything because I don't want to jinx it...so, pretend I'm not here, OK? shhhh
  10. Niners lose a game today they should have won if they actually had a QB. Alex Smith just plain SUCKS.
  11. Yeah, it was just too much to ask for a team to make the playoffs with half the starters on the DL or IR. On to next year. Go Niners.
  12. Giants vs D'Backs this weekend for a three game series. They blow this one, they may as well cash out now and go home. Grrrrr
  13. 101 and hot, hot, hot! Atleast it's not muggy anymore. Ugh.
  14. I can definitely relate, Stefan. In terms of creating, I have a burning desire to write, but like you, I have a full-time job. I keep files of various writings of this and that, but don't have the time to balance my job with giving my writing the focus it deserves. Photography helped me keep my creative side alive for a time, but when everything went digital my pocketbook couldn't handle the expense of it all. Maybe when I retire in four years I can finally get serious about my writing. Until then, I must live vicariously through my son's musical talent and composing abilities. I think it goes without saying that I wish you the best of luck!
  15. Umpires- 1 Astros- 4 Giants- 3 Bochy- 0
  16. You said the same thing last year, James. And guess what? Texas Rangers win the AL Championship. You ain't kiddin' nobody.
  17. Not when OGANDO! (and I'm keeping it like that just because the truly electrifying impact of his first half hasn't worn off yet) & the rest of the Rangers' starters (save for C.J. Wilson) look like they're lost their zip and/or location. If there's a second wind to be had (and there's no reason to believe that there shouldn't be), they need to get it ASAFP. But yeah, you can't throw chum up to that lineup of sharks and not expect to get eaten alive. And eaten alive we got. Bullshit. Your guys look plenty strong. I pick the Rangers to repeat as AL Champs.
  18. Geez. First mountains of snow, 100+ degree heat, earthquake and now a hurricane? What's next...the plague of locust?
  19. I solved that problem by starting with the top shelf and then I work my way down.
  20. Giants make a comeback against the Pads only to lose it in the 9th. Wilson joins the rest of the team on the DL. All is lost. Go Niners.
  21. Hell, we wouldn't have noticed 5.8 if it happened on this coast... Just a speed bump out here.
  22. Giants actually beat the Lastros....in extra innings. Oooo. Hold me back. I am summarily underwhelmed.
  23. Pssh. First earthquake in 114 years. Wussies.
  24. And the NL East has 8 pennants and 4 titles in that span. I'm not sure why you're getting so defensive over a simple remark "does anyone want to win the NL West?" as the "does anyone want to win..." part is a common saying when the contending teams in a division both are experiencing short losing streaks or losing in dramatic fashion. We have a "history" in this area, JH. Besides, I'm a Phillies hater now. Remember? Grrrrr
  25. Don't get too smug, JH. Lots of 100 game winners choke in the playoffs. Besides, as I have stated numerous times before, the NL West is a very competitive division. May I further remind the NL West has had teams in the WS five times in the last 15 years...and won it all, twice? Add to that the WC has come out of the NL West several times in that same time span. It ain't over yet, my friend. To wit: [From the Hot Stove thread]
