Honeybees Dying Off in US and Parts of Europe

She might do this lady's hair: -
That's what they keep telling me. She's a big Cecil Taylor fan, too!
-
Congrats! I still have a ways to go, even after the somewhat ridiculous number I picked up this weekend. The fact that my gf encourages my habit didn't help (or did help, depending on how you look at it).
-
I'm totally unfamiliar with Stuff. How is "Cat on a Hot Fiddle" as a starting point?
-
Sorry, I find that hard to believe.

J&R in NYC is having a $6.99 sale on RVGs (and other BNs normally priced at $11.99). I put a pretty big dent in my "RVGs to buy" list this weekend. This sale is good on web orders as well: http://www.jr.com/JRSectionView.process?N=...mp;Ne=500#Label I have no idea when this sale ends. There is no discount on conns.

Good to see you, Manny.
-
I got .006472% just now, but I'll have to check my work when I'm in a more sober state.

Maybe I shouldn't say this in public, but Manny is the reason I almost never go in DMG, despite living about two minutes away. Seeing how he treats some of the staff has really embarrased me on more than one ocassion. Plus he has denied the existance of several albums that I was looking for, which is just annoying. Bruce has always seemed like a really nice guy to me. I run into him at shows all the time - he coincidently sat next to me at Cecil Taylor a few weeks ago and was right behind me at the Braxton show last night.

What was your board name on the BNBB?
J Larsen replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
J Larsen. I was one of the few who was never banned from the BNBB. I guess I was doing something wrong... -
Is it one owner or two? I always got the impression that the big guy and the slender guy were partners.

It deserves a spin here too. It's been a while since I watched it. It's a great video, but I wish they hadn't added the cheesy video effects - it looks like the producer was learning his editing program as he went along. That's exactly what happened. First day with a new camera. Whoops - were you the camera man?

There's a f@*##* rat in my house!
J Larsen replied to trane_fanatic's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Apparently a popular dish in China is called "The Three Screams". A live mouse is pinned with a fork (1 scream), dipped in boiling oil (2 screams), and swallowed alive (3 screams). Quite a delicacy they say but I would recommend that it's probably not a good idea to order this for dinner if you're on a first date. I'm a little skeptical of that "Three Screams" dish - it has the air of an urban legend to me. However, I do know that in parts of Vietnam field rats are caked with mud and baked for a long time at low temperature. The mud forms a hard shell around the rat, which is broken off before consumption. I have it on good authority that it is actually quite delicious, but I don't plan to conduct an independent verification. -
It ain't 1948 anymore, folks. I applaud the measure and it will not hurt business one bit. That's been my experience in NYC - no impact at all on bar and nightclub attendance, although some owners make claims to the contrary. I suspect they are smokers themselves. I love coming home not smelling like an ashtray. The only downside I can see is that it makes the streets a lot noisier at night, as all the smokers go to the sidewalk outside the bars/clubs in groups to get their fixes. That's actually a small part of why I am moving. I have been woken up by loud, drunk smokers outside my place at 4 am on far too many Thursday nights/Friday mornings.

You get to see throwing back an Anchor Steam in that one.
-
Funny, I was just thinking of throwing that DVD in today. I'm the guy whose head is in the way every time the camera pans across the stage in that YouTube video.
-
I was at that show! For that matter, I'm in that video...

What live music are you going to see tonight?
J Larsen replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
He was even better tonight. Best show I've seen since AHA3 at the Iridium a few months ago. -
I like about some of the Gastr del Sol stuff, but I was never gah-gah over them like a lot of people were. I'm going to give this Anitibalas disc a try though, unless I can check them out live first (I see that they are local).

Anthony Braxton was so good last night that I'm going again tonight. -
You guys have been slacking today.

cant be I hate to say it, but it really is. Worst part is I may have a view of it from my new apartment. The blue colors are even more ridiculous looking in person than in the picture. Here is another page of photos: http://flickr.com/photos/iceberg18/sets/72057594099741071/ This one in particular is pretty close to what the finished product looks like in person: http://flickr.com/photos/iceberg18/2272870...57594099741071/ I'm sure the developers are happy to see their next door neighbor close its doors.
